Amnesia. Again *final part* (Tom Holland)
Requested by -NoraAdeline: Y/N gets amnesia, and Tom has to make her remember him.
*Little note, this chapter contains brief mention of blood and injury detail. It's very minor, however I know that some people do get triggered by mentions of that, and so I wanted to warn everyone. Thank you, and enjoy :)*
My eyes fluttered open, my eyebrows furrowing and a quiet groan leaving my lips as pain swept through my head as a result of the alcohol that I'd had last night. My eyelids closed again, my body trying to go back to sleep, but I knew that I had to get up as I properly opened my eyes. As soon as I did, my heart almost stopped.
"Fuck." I whispered, my eyes widening at the sight of Tom asleep next to me, the boy's face barely an inch away from mine as soft snores left his parted lips. I gulped harshly as I only just registered the feeling of his arm over my waist, my heart racing as I tried to figure out what had happened. We were both fully clothed and were lying on top of Tom's sheets, giving me slight relief at the fact that we clearly hadn't had sex after we'd gotten drunk. That would have been awkward. I bit my lip and looked around slowly, Tom's laptop open and between our bodies further down the bed. I puffed out and nodded as I finally started to remember what had happened. Nothing at all scandalous luckily, Tom had suggested that we watch a movie in his room, and a bottle of wine had quickly become involved. We'd only drank more and then had fallen asleep together, hence the position that I'd just woken up in. I started to ease myself into a sitting position whilst trying not to wake Tom up, though I winced as me moving made Tom's arm gently drop to the sheets. I sighed and shook my head as I'd failed, the boy's face scrunching up slightly and his lips parting into a yawn as he came to.
"Fucking hell." He groaned as his eyes completely opened. They landed on me, making both of us give the other a small smile as he sat up.
"Morning, sweetheart. You okay?" Tom asked as he scooted forwards on the bed so that he was next to me as he gently curled his arm around my waist.
"Yeah, Tommy, just feeling a little rough from last night." I admitted with a somewhat nervous chuckle. Why I was nervous, I couldn't really say. After all, I had now been living with Tom for six months, and whilst we hadn't kissed or been physical apart from cuddling, I had definitely fallen for him, and I could safely guess that he felt the same about me too. I couldn't put my finger on why, but for some reason, having woken up after falling asleep with Tom, with his face not even an inch away from mine, had melted me into a nervous mess. It wasn't even as if we'd had sex, but it made me feel so giddy that we'd fallen asleep together for the first time. Tom returned the chuckle and nodded as he scratched the back of his hair.
"Yeah, darling, we may have gone a little too hard last night, but no matter. I think that there's some aspirin in your room, on my side-." His eyes widened and he immediately stopped talking, making me gulp and my eyebrows furrow at what he'd just said. His side? Tom hadn't slept at all in my bed since I'd moved in with him, so why had he referred to it as his side? Unless of course, we'd shared a bed before my accident, which would give me yet another clue as to what we had been before the amnesia. Because as painful as it was, I still hadn't had any memories of Tom. I had memories of everyone else in our lives, including both of our families, and Zendaya, Jacob and Harrison, and yet I still needed to remember anything with Tom. Our relationship had progressed again naturally and with no help from my own mind, but that in itself told me that I probably wasn't just a friend to him before I'd developed the amnesia.
"Fuck, sorry, love, not my side, the, um...shit, the left side of the bed, the left bedside table may have some aspirin in it." Tom gulped and nodded, the boy looking at me somewhat timidly as his gaze flicked between me and his lap. I returned the gulp and gave him a small smile, my mind trying to make him feel like what he'd said wasn't a big deal as I stood from the bed.
"Okay, I'll have a look, thanks, Tommy." I smiled, making him return it but still sigh quietly as I headed to the door and opened it. I took a deep breath and tried not to think more about what he'd said as I headed along to my room.
"Let's have a look." I mumbled to myself as I leant down and opened the cabinet part of the bedside table. I rummaged around the limited contents of the box, a sigh leaving my lips as there was clearly no aspirin in it. I stood back up and opened the draw instead. But my eyebrows furrowed as soon as I saw the navy velvet ring box.
"What do we have here?" I muttered again as I gently took it out of the draw before opening it. My eyes widened further.
"Holy shit." I scoffed, my heart leaping slightly in my chest as I stared at the simply stunning engagement ring that sat against the cushion. But the weirdest thing...was that I'd seen this ring before. My eyebrows furrowed, something seemingly coming back to me as I continued to stare at the beautiful piece of jewellery.
I stood in our bedroom, my eyes on the basket of laundry as I folded it, and put it away. I had been alone for the day, him being out for filming and so I figured that I'd sort our bedroom out, and just get some general stuff done around the house. My eyes widened, a hiss leaving my lips as my finger got caught on the zip of his jeans, the skin tearing slightly as a result and blood starting to gently poke out from the cut.
"Fucks' sake." I mumbled to myself, my mind kicking me for being so stupid as I put the jeans down, and turned to his bedside table to see if I could find a plaster or tissue, or anything in fact to stop the slight bleeding. I opened the drawer, but instead of going to the box of plasters, my gaze was immediately drawn to the navy velvet ring box that was sitting in my boyfriend's drawer. My eyes widened, my heart skipping a beat as my mouth completely dried up. I was trying not to get over-excited, I was trying not to assume that it was what I thought it was before knowing, but it had to be, surely. After all, we'd been together for three years, we'd had the conversations about marriage, about children, about growing old together, and so we knew that we wanted that together. This would be the first step in that, if it was what I thought it was. I gulped and looked over my shoulder at our open bedroom door, just checking that he hadn't suddenly got home without me hearing him before I turned back to the box. I took it out gently, a deep and unsteady breath leaving my lips as I opened the box. My eyes widened again, my heart stopping in my chest and a choke leaving my lips as my eyes immediately fell upon the gorgeous engagement ring.
"Oh my god." I whispered, tears pricking my eyes at how perfect it was. The square diamond was stunning, it wasn't so big that it was tacky but also wasn't so small that no one would be able to see it, and it sat on an equally gorgeous silver ring that was also encrusted in smaller diamonds. It was literally the ring of my dreams, and it would be given to me by the man of my dreams. I didn't know when he'd choose to do it, but I already couldn't wait.
"Darling, I'm home!" My eyes widened again, my hands instantly slamming the box shut and shoving it back into the drawer before shutting it so quickly that my heart raced.
"Fuck, okay, act normal, Y/N, you don't know that he's going to propose, don't ruin this for him." I whispered to myself as I went back to the basket of laundry and continued to fold it. I looked up as Tom appeared at the door, my gorgeous boyfriend giving me a small smile as he walked into the room.
"Hey, my love. You okay?" He chuckled somewhat suspiciously as I put the laundry down, and turned to face him.
"Y-yeah, um, I'm fine, yeah." I shrugged, my entire being desperately trying to act natural as I put my hands on Tom's chest, and he curled his arms around my waist. He raised his eyebrow at me, the boy clearly seeing right through my shitty facade as he tried not to smile.
"You sure, sweetheart? You seem, kind of...I don't know, flustered." He smiled and shook his head. I shrugged again and tried to play it off, though I could tell by how Tom was looking at me that he was trying to suss out what was going on. But I couldn't ruin this for him. He'd bought me literally the perfect ring, and so I knew that he was also planning the perfect proposal too. I wasn't about to ruin that for him.
"Maybe I've been thinking about you, Tommy, you don't know what I've been doing today." I decided to take the flirty route in order to get myself out of this mess. It worked, my boyfriend's lips curling into a smirk as his eyes flicked between mine and my mouth.
"Oh yeah, darling? Thinking about what with me?" He teased.
"I think it's best if I show you." I nodded.
"I think so too." Tom returned the nod, making me squeal and laugh as he leant down and swept my legs from underneath me. He threw me onto the bed, both of us laughing and smiling at each other as he immediately climbed on top of me, and leant down to smash our lips together.
I stared at the box, my eyes wide and my lips parted as tears silently left my lips. Surely that hadn't been a real memory, it couldn't be. Because if it had been, not only had Tom and I been together for years before my amnesia...but he had potentially been only days away from proposing to me. And we'd both been robbed of that by the accident. I choked and shook my head, everything making so much fucking sense now. Tom being so angry at the hospital when I first had the accident over the fact that he wasn't allowed to tell me who he was to me. The look in his eye that he'd get countless times a day, telling me that he wanted to do something, wanted to touch me in some way, but couldn't for some reason. Him getting upset and beaten down when I had memories, but they hadn't included him. Until now. It all made perfect sense to me now. I was in love with Tom, but not just because that relationship had naturally progressed over the last half a year. But because we'd always been in love.
"Did you find it, love?" I whipped around at the sound of Tom's voice, my eyes widening as he stood at the doorway. His gaze immediately went down to my hands, making his smile drop instantly and his eyes waver as he saw the engagement ring box still in my grasp.
"Darling, where...where did you find that?" He gulped, panic and sadness starting to take his face over as tears pricked his eyes. I returned the gulp and motioned to the drawer behind me. I couldn't help but feel fucking awful right now. Whilst yes, I had discovered the ring before Tom had had a chance to propose, I had kept that from him, I hadn't told him that I knew. So not only did he now know that I knew, but I also hadn't even had the sense yet to tell him that I'd finally remembered him. Tom's eyes wavered again, a tear leaving his eye as we just looked at each other.
"I'm so sorry, darling. But I can explain-." I dropped the box, making Tom's eyes widen as I rushed to him. My heart was racing in my chest, my mind hardly believing that I had finally remembered as I grabbed his face, and pulled him down to smash our lips together. The boy immediately returned it, both of us closing our eyes as his hands raised to tightly grip my waist. I knew that it wasn't the first time that I'd kissed Tom, but it felt like it was, and it was fucking perfect. His lips were so heavenly and soft against mine, his hands gliding over my waist and curves with so much love as I curled my hands around his neck and pulled him closer. After a moment, Tom broke the kiss, though neither of us let the other one go as he just held me. My eyes fluttered open, my throat gulping as my gaze immediately landed on Tom's beautiful orbs. He gulped and looked over my face, the boy clearly confused as to what had just happened as he shook his head.
"You've remembered me...haven't you?" He whispered. I bit my lip and nodded, the boy leaning forward and pressing our foreheads together as his hands on my lower back kept me into his body.
"So, obviously I found the ring, but...I found it before, I'm sorry. I came across it that day that I was sorting out the room, and I didn't tell you because I know you, I know that you would have been figuring out a really thoughtful way to ask me, and so I didn't tell you. But finding the ring made me remember...and I remembered you. I saw you." I nodded. Tom's eyes wavered, a choke leaving his lips at my words. At the fact that I had finally remembered him. I couldn't imagine how hard this had been on him, after all, he was the last person in my life that I'd had a memory of, and yet he was the most important.
"I can't believe that you finally remembered. I know that it's not your fault, darling, but I've been hoping every single day since the accident that you'd remember me, that you'd come back to me. And you finally fucking have." He choked and shook his head, tears now freely leaving his eyes as he continued to hold me close. I smiled and nodded as I also cried, my hand holding his cheek as I just cherished the feeling of his body against mine.
"I'm back, Tommy. I'm back." I promised. Tom's smile widened, the boy letting me go and passing me as he rushed to pick the ring back up. He took a deep breath before getting down on one knee in front of me, making me smile and bite my lip as I looked down at him with as much love as I could.
"Love, I know that this may seem sudden given that you've just remembered me, but I was going to do this the night that you got into the accident, and I can't wait a second longer to ask you. So, Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N...will you marry me?" He gulped.
"Tommy, yes, yes, of course I will." I choked and shook my head. Tom sighed in relief, my heart fluttering at how nervous he had been as he stood to his feet, and gently took my hand. I watched in awe, my heart so fucking full as he gently slid the ring onto my finger before curling his arms around me again.
"This is far from the proposal that I had planned, but I don't care. You finally remember me, you're finally back, and so I don't give a shit. You finally remember me, and that's all that I ever needed." He shook his head.
"It was perfect, Tommy. I can't wait to marry you, and to not only remember more about us, but to make new memories with you too. I love you, Tommy." I whispered before leaning in and kissing him again. Tom returned it, my heart and mind finally at rest at the fact that I had finally remembered who Tom was to me. And that was the love of my life.
