Always back to you *part 2* (Peter Parker)
Y/N's P.O.V
I walked into the training room, my body clad in my sports bra and leggings as I headed in for my training session with Peter. But as soon as I walked in, I wished that I hadn't. My eyes wavered, a slight twinge of jealousy pinging my heart at the sight of Naomi standing with Peter on the mats, my best friend laughing and putting her hands on his chest as they spoke. I gulped harshly and looked at them. I had no idea why I felt like this, but I had for the last month. Ever since the morning after I had woken up from that dream. Something had felt off since that morning, I just couldn't figure out what it was, but I knew that Peter felt the same way. I'd often catch Peter looking at me, the emptiness in his eyes being the same one that was in mine when I looked at him. That was what confirmed to me that he felt as much as I did that something was wrong. I still couldn't figure out what it was, but a small part of me felt like it was connected to Naomi. I felt awful doubting my best friend like that, but the truth was that I didn't have a single memory of her from before that morning, and that only added to the weirdness of the situation.
"Naomi, I love you, but you know that you can't be in here." I chuckled in an attempt to cover up my jealousy, making Peter and Naomi look at me as I alerted them to my presence.
"I know, sorry, I just had to wish my man luck before his training." She giggled before leaning up and kissing him. My eyes wavered again and I cleared my throat as I looked down, an air of awkwardness filling the room because of the action. But a lot of the awkwardness came from the fact that Peter was barely kissing back, and neither of his hands were holding Naomi. She broke the kiss, making Peter timidly look at me as she headed towards me. She gave me a wide smile, making me force one in return as she trotted past me, and left the room. I looked back up at Peter, the boy also clearing his throat and giving me a small smile as I walked onto the mats.
"You all good, Pete? You didn't look too comfortable there." I admitted with a chuckle in a weak attempt to make light of the situation. He shook his head and gave me a small smile as he raised his fists and got into a fighting stance.
"Yeah, I'm all good, don't worry. Let's fight." He nodded. I returned it, my mind still not convinced that my teammate was okay as I also got into a fighting stance. And then, we started. I swung out my fist, Peter dodging it with ease as he dropped to his knees and swung his leg out. It caught my legs, making me yelp out as my back collided with the mats. I saw Peter start to pounce on me, but I was too quick as I hurriedly raised my palms and let my energy shoot out of them.
"WOAH!" He yelled, the boy caught off-guard as my powers hit him in the chest and sent him flying back. This gave me a chance to get back up, both of us back on our feet within seconds as we stared at each other.
"That was a really good move." He praised with a nod. I gave him a small smile, my heart fluttering at even the small piece of affection as I tried not to get lost in the boy's gorgeous chocolate eyes.
"Thanks, Pete." I returned the nod before running for him. But Peter was ready. As soon as I got to him, he grabbed me by the waist and pushed me as hard as he could, sending me flying backwards. My back harshly collided with the wall, making me yelp out at the impact and squeeze my eyes shut as I fell to the floor. I looked up and my eyes widened as Peter was striding towards me, making me just about stumble to my feet in time. But I was still too late. I put my hand forward to hit Peter again with my powers, but with a simple flick of the boy's wrist, my own wrist was stuck to the wall with his webs. I yelped out as he grabbed my throat and pinned me to the wall once he got to me, both of us panting heavily and staring at each other as he kept me in between his body and the wall. We both stared at each other with wide eyes, my heart racing violently in my chest as I tried to process the way that he was looking at me. More specifically, the way that his gaze kept flicking between my eyes and my lips. I wanted so badly to lean in and kiss him, but I knew that I couldn't. I couldn't do that to Naomi, no matter how much I wanted Peter. And by the looks of it, he wanted me too. But then the question remained, why was he with Naomi? I gulped, my mind snapping out of that train of thought as Peter gently removed his hand from around my neck. But instead of completely dropping, it fell in a way that allowed his fingertips to slightly glide down my arm and touch my own fingers before finally breaking contact with me.
"S-sorry, that, um...that wasn't appropriate, I'm sorry." He mumbled and shook his head as he took a step back from me. I gulped and looked at him.
"It's okay, Pete, it's alright." I nodded and gave him a small smile as I tried to reassure him. He chuckled and pointed to my web-covered wrist.
"That takes about an hour to dissolve. So, I guess that we have an hour to get better acquainted." He smiled as he walked back up to me.
"Pete, it's okay, you don't have to stay with me." I chuckled at the boy.
"I do, I stuck you to this wall. Anyway, I want to." He shrugged as he stuck his hands into his sweater-pant pockets. I gave him a small smile, my heart fluttering once again at how kind and gentle he was. And how I felt so much stronger for him than I should have been after only a month. After all, we'd barely talked before that morning, and so I didn't know why I was fully falling for the boy instead of just developing a childish crush. Oh well. I guessed that it was all part of the insane shit that was this situation.
I lay in bed, my hands against my stomach and my eyes glued to the ceiling as I lay in my dark bedroom. I turned my head and sighed, the time three a.m. being what my alarm clock showed as I looked back up at the ceiling. It had been almost a full day since Peter and I had trained, and yet I couldn't get the fucking boy out of my head. Or more specifically, I couldn't get what had happened during training out of my head. I couldn't lie, that had been the first interaction that I'd had with Peter in the last month that felt natural, felt like it was meant to happen. The way that his body had pressed to mine, his gaze flicking in between my lips and my eyes making my heart explode. It felt natural and normal, it felt perfect. Which was only making me further question this entire situation with Naomi. Because I'd seen it in Peter's eyes that he'd felt the same thing when he'd had me pinned to the wall. Which once again begged the question of why he was with her. I sighed and shook my head, my mind knowing that I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep as I stood up and headed out of my room. I silently padded along to the living room, my eyes wavering as Peter was also in the kitchen, sitting at the breakfast bar like he had been on that morning.
"You can't sleep either, huh?" I asked, alerting him to my presence as he looked up at me.
"Not at all, got too much on my mind." He chuckled as I walked to him, and leant forward against the bar beside him so that I could rest my arms against the surface.
"Me too. Funny that." I nodded. He returned it and bit his lip as he looked at me.
"You want to talk about it?" He asked softly. I sighed and returned his gaze.
"Does something about Naomi feel a little off to you?" I asked after a moment of internally contemplating whether or not to ask that question. Peter gulped, his eyes wavering as his head slowly started to move into a nod.
"I didn't know if you'd sensed it too. But, yeah. I don't know what it is about her, but something doesn't feel right." He shook his head.
"Me neither, that's what's so annoying. It doesn't feel like she's my best friend, and it doesn't feel like we're only teammates." I scoffed.
"I agree. It doesn't feel like I should be with her, it feels like I should be with-." Peter stopped himself, making my heart jump violently in my chest as his eyes wavered before moving down to look at his lap.
"Feels like you should be with who, Pete?" I asked quietly, my heart racing purely at the thought that he would say me. He sighed and forced himself to look back at me.
"You, Y/N. It feels like I should be with you." He admitted. I gave him a small smile and nodded as I rested my hand on top of his.
"I feel the same, Peter. I don't know why, because we've never been close, but I just...I feel drawn to you. I don't know what happened, but I can't remember Naomi until about a month ago, and ever since, I've just felt like I have to go to you." I shook my head.
"I feel the same. Whatever has happened, we need to figure it out." He stated.
"Agreed." I nodded before looking at him again. He sighed quietly and leant forward to rest his head against his hand that was propped up by his elbow on the island top.
"Is it bad that I really want to kiss you right now?" He asked softly. I couldn't help but smile and bite my lip as I looked down, a harsh blush creeping over my cheeks and my heart fluttering violently at his words as I timidly looked back up at him through my eyelashes.
"No. It's not. But we can't until we know what's going on with Naomi. Until we know, we have to continue acting like she's your girlfriend, and my best friend. Even if we secretly want each other." I nodded. He sighed again and gave me a small smile as he raised my hand and gently kissed it.
"Okay. As long as I'm around you, I can do that." He reassured, making me return his small smile as we continued to softly look at each other, and be comforted in the fact that we weren't crazy. Something was definitely going on. And whatever it was, it had all started with Naomi.
