The boy next door *part 2* (Tom Holland)
Requested by mrsholland199601: Y/N and her boyfriend are getting ready for a party at Y/N's house before Y/N sees Tom, and invites him to go with them. At the party, Y/N gets drunk whilst Tom stays sober, and halfway through Y/N's boyfriend has to leave to deal with an emergency. Tom is left to deal with an increasingly drunk Y/N, so he ends up taking her home and trying to sneak her back into her house.
Tom's P.O.V
Tom pulled into his parents' driveway, his lips letting a quiet sigh go as he turned the engine off and got bathed in darkness as the light in the car turned off, and it was now dark outside too. He climbed out of his car and locked it before starting to head up the path.
"Hey, Tom!" He looked to the side as he heard Y/N's voice call his name, his eyes widening as he saw her.
"Holy shit." He whispered to himself as his heart almost exploded in his chest. The beautiful girl was walking down the path with Jacob, her boyfriend, but Tom was focused solely on her. He was guessing that they were going out somewhere from the tight dress that hugged her perfect body and her curled hair bouncing against her shoulders. It was too dark and Tom was too far away for him to see her makeup, but he had no doubt that she looked stunning.
"H-hey." He yelled back as Y/N walked over his garden to get to him.
"You got anything on tonight?" The girl asked as she approached him. He shook his head and gulped as he tried to figure out a way to make his plans sound not as fucking dull and boring as they were.
"N-no, not really. Will probably just watch a movie with my brothers." He nodded.
"Or, you could come to a party with Jacob and I." She smiled. His eyes widened, his mouth falling open and his heart leaping in his chest at her suggestion. It had only been a week since their first proper conversation and they hadn't spoken since, so Tom had no idea what to make of the fact that she was asking him to go to a party with her. Well, her and her boyfriend, but he could ignore Jacob.
"I-I, um, I don't know." he chuckled nervously as he shook his head.
"Yeah, babe, I don't know how Dan will feel about us inviting more people." Jacob mumbled to Y/N, but not quiet enough for Tom not to hear, making the boy clench his jaw at him.
"He'll be fine with it, he loves meeting new people. Come on, Tommy, it'll be fun." Y/N insisted with a smile. Tom's eyes wavered, his heart almost exploding in his chest at Y/N's use of the nickname. Only his friends tended to call him that, but it sounded fucking perfect coming from her lips, and he knew immediately that he wanted her to call him that again.
"Yeah, alright, sure. Y-you're right, it'll be fun." He nodded as he tried to sound nonchalant about it.
"Amazing. We'll just be out here until you're ready, yeah?" Y/N asked.
"Sounds good." Tom smiled, making Y/N return it and bite her lip as he headed back up the path and opened his door. He slipped into the house, his eyes widening and a breath leaving his lips as he shut the door.
"Holy shit...holy fucking shit." He whispered to himself as he raised his hands to his head. His crush had just asked him to go to a party with her...and he had said yes. Why the fuck did I say yes, he thought to himself. He gulped and took a deep breath, knowing that he had to look his best for the beautiful girl as he rushed upstairs and started to get ready.
Y/N's P.O.V
"Seriously, do I look okay in this dress?" I scoffed as I opened the front door for Jacob and I to leave for the party that we were going to tonight.
"Yeah, babe, you look fine." My boyfriend shrugged nonchalantly as I locked the door behind us.
"I was hoping for more than 'fine', but sure." I mumbled, my eyes rolling at his lack of compliments as I turned around. Immediately, my gaze fell on Tom as he climbed out of his car and locked it before starting to head up the path to his house. I couldn't help but smile slightly at seeing him again. It had been a week since our first real conversation, but I had to admit that upon seeing him, I was still thinking about how adorably nervous and flustered he had gotten around me. He was cute, and I'd confess to thinking that.
"Hey, Tom!" I called out to him.
"Babe, what are you doing?" Jacob scoffed as Tom looked towards me, his eyes widening as he saw me.
"Just saying hi." I shrugged as I started to walk down my path with Jacob, Tom's lips once again moving but I couldn't hear or figure out what he'd said. I guessed that he just liked to talk to himself a lot.
"H-hey." He yelled back as I walked over his garden to get to him.
"You got anything on tonight?" I asked as I approached him. After all, I figured that if he had nothing on, there was no harm in inviting him to the party with Jacob and I. I wanted us to become friends, and so this felt like a good first step. He shook his head and gulped.
"N-no, not really. Will probably just watch a movie with my brothers." He nodded.
"Or, you could come to a party with Jacob and I." I smiled. His eyes widened and his mouth fell open at my suggestion. I couldn't help but let my heart flutter at his reaction, the boy acting like I'd suggested something a lot more risky and daring than him just going to a party with us. Still, like most things that Tom did, it only made me find him cuter.
"I-I, um, I don't know." he chuckled nervously as he shook his head.
"Yeah, babe, I don't know how Dan will feel about us inviting more people." Jacob mumbled as he got to me on the grass, making Tom seemingly clench his jaw.
"He'll be fine with it, he loves meeting new people. Come on, Tommy, it'll be fun." I insisted with a smile. Despite the fact that I didn't know him all that well yet, Tom seemed like the type of guy who would have a great night and loosen up once you gave him the chance, and so I wanted to see that side of him. Tom's eyes wavered.
"Yeah, alright, sure. Y-you're right, it'll be fun." He nodded.
"Amazing. We'll just be out here until you're ready, yeah?" I asked.
"Sounds good." Tom smiled, making me return it and bite my lip as he headed back up the path and opened his door. He disappeared into his house, making me chuckle and shake my head as I turned back to Jacob.
"Really? You had to invite your nervous wreck nerd of a neighbour to the party?" Jacob sighed.
"Don't be a dick, Jacob, he's a nice guy, just gets nervous around me for some reason. We're barely friends but I want to be friends with him, so this is the first chance for us to get to know each other." I shrugged nonchalantly.
"I'm pretty sure that he's not got just friendship on his mind, but sure." He mumbled. I looked at him.
"Tom? Like me? That's so silly, it's not like that." I chuckled and shook my head.
"Sure it's not, babe." He mumbled, making me sigh and roll my eyes again as we continued to wait for Tom. As if on cue, his door opened, making me look at it. I couldn't help but smile at the boy as he emerged clad in smart jeans and a nice shirt, his hair slightly quaffed to complete the look. And I had to admit, it was a look that I very much liked.
"You ready to go, Tommy?" I smiled as he got to us.
"Y-yeah, let's do it." He chuckled and nodded, making me return it as Jacob took my hand and we started to walk.
"One, two, three!" I counted down, both Jacob and I raising the shot glasses of vodka to our mouths as I got to 'three'. I swallowed the bitter liquid, my face scrunching up at the strongness of it.
"Fuck." I coughed, making Tom chuckle and shake his head at me.
"You sure that you don't want any, Tommy?" I checked as Jacob poured us another one each.
"I'm good, I have to be up early tomorrow." He nodded.
"Okay." I shrugged as Jacob handed me the next shot. I looked at Tom.
"Cheers." I smirked and winked at him, making the boy's eyes waver slightly and his throat gulp as I downed the shot. Jacob, Tom and I had been at the party for a couple of hours now, and I was well and truly smashed. Tom had decided not to drink tonight, so he was sober, which I supposed was good considering that my vision was starting to blur with how much I'd had to drink. I wasn't sure if it was the alcohol, but my quiet neighbour also seemed to be getting hotter by the shot. I wouldn't deny that I had always found him cute, his beautiful brown curls and stunning chocolate eyes making him an adorable guy. But the more that I was drinking, the more that he was hot, sexy even, over being cute.
"Y/N, you okay?" I snapped back as Tom spoke, butterflies exploding in my chest as he put his hand on my folded elbow. My eyebrows furrowed and I looked at him.
"Why wouldn't I be?" I chuckled. He returned it hesitantly and shook his head.
"No reason, you just seemed to zone out for a second." He stated. No, just thinking about how you're getting hotter the more that I drink, I thought as I looked at him.
"I'm fine, I promise." I smiled. He returned it and nodded, his eyes scanning over my face as he did.
"Fuck." Jacob mumbled behind us, making me turn around to look at him.
"What's up?" I asked.
"The dog's been sick, mum has to take her to the vet and so needs me to look after my siblings whilst she's gone." He sighed as he looked at his phone. My eyes widened.
"But...you can't just leave-."
"I have to, babe, it's an emergency." He nodded as he started to walk past us.
"Look after her, yeah?" He spoke, making Tom's eyes widen as he patted him on the shoulder as he walked past and left. I followed him with my gaze as he walked out of the party, tears pricking my eyes as my heart sank.
"Wow. He didn't even kiss me goodbye or anything." I choked and shook my head. Tom looked at me, his eyes wavering as he saw the tears in mine.
"Hey, hey, it's okay, I'm still here, you're alright." He reassured me as he gently rubbed my arms with his hands in what I assumed was an attempt to comfort me. It worked, though. I nodded and sniffed as I looked up at him.
"You're right, at least I still have you. Let's dance." I smiled, my drunk mind forgetting about Jacob leaving in a second as I took Tom's hand and started to pull him towards the dance-floor.
"Y/N, is that really a good idea considering how much you've had to drink-."
"Shush, my boyfriend has just ditched me at a party. I want to have fun and dance with the guy who actually stuck around with me." I nodded, making the boy's eyes widen and a slight blush creep over his cheeks as I hooked my arms over his shoulders and pulled him closer.
"O-okay, but let me know the second that you want to go home, and I'll take you, yeah?" He checked as his hands hesitantly but surely raised to hold my waist.
"I will, Tommy. But first, I want to dance." I giggled, making him chuckle and shake his head as we started to dance.
"Okay, sh, sh, there we go, remember to be quiet." Tom mumbled quietly, his arms wrapped around my waist and my arm over his shoulder to keep me standing as he quietly stepped us into my house. I giggled and shook my head, everything spinning and my heart full of drunken love for Tom as he shut the door.
"Why did we come home again? I was enjoying dancing with you." I whined, making Tom purse his lips and put his finger to them as a way of telling me to be quiet as he started to gently guide me up the stairs.
"I know that you were, but I thought that it was enough when you got too drunk to stand." He nodded, his arms around me being the only thing still holding me up as we just about made it to the top of the stairs.
"Boo." I whispered, making him chuckle and shake his head as he opened my bedroom door and guided me in before shutting it behind us.
"Okay, come on, sit down, there we go." He cooed gently as he sat me down on the edge of my bed. I leant back on my hands and watched him, my drunk mind still admiring the boy as he got down on his knee in front of me and started to undo my shoes.
"I appreciate it, Tommy, but why are you helping me?" I asked quietly. He shrugged and looked up at me through his eyelashes.
"Because you're my friend, and I wanted you to get home safely." He stated simply as he pulled my shoes off of my feet.
"That included seeing me right to my room, did it?" I smirked, my drunken head having zero filter as I subtly flirted with the boy. He chuckled and looked down, a slight blush on his cheeks as I scooted back onto my bed fully.
"I'm a good friend." He nodded as he stood up and turned to head for my door. My eyebrows furrowed.
"Don't go." I spoke quietly. He looked over his shoulder at me, his eyebrows also furrowing and his lips parting in confusion as he turned around to fully face me again.
"W-what?" He chuckled nervously.
"Normally, I sleep with Jacob, so I like to sleep next to someone now. Will you stay until I fall asleep?" I requested. Tom sighed, his face softening at my request.
"Y/N-."
"Please. Just until I fall asleep." I promised. He sighed again, but I knew that he was going to give in.
"Fine, alright. Yeah." He nodded, making me smile as he kicked his shoes off. I lay down on my side in bed, Tom crawling onto the bed and lying down to face me too as he did. I bit my lip and looked at him, both of us just looking into each other's eyes as we lay there. There was something seriously beautiful about the chocolate of Tom's eyes, something that I hadn't noticed until our first conversation. But boy was I glad that I had noticed.
"You can put your arm over my waist. It's okay." I whispered. His eyes widened slightly, his mouth once again falling open at my words. God, he was so cute when I shocked him.
"A-are you sure, Y/N? I don't want to make you uncomfortable." He gulped.
"You won't." I shook my head. He sighed and gave me a small smile, my heart fluttering in my chest as he curled his arm over my body and landed his hand against my waist. I sighed out, my eyes growing increasingly heavy as my drunk body started to give in to sleep. If I could lie here all night and stare into Tom's gorgeous eyes, I would do, but I was far too drunk for that to be a good idea.
"Goodnight, Tommy." I whispered as I leant forward so that my head was resting just against his shoulder.
"Goodnight, Y/N. Sleep well." The boy mumbled softly in return, the feeling of his arm over my waist and his warm skin connected to mine sending me off to sleep as I finally fell unconscious.
Tom's P.O.V
"Okay, sh, sh, there we go, remember to be quiet." Tom mumbled quietly, his arms wrapped around Y/N's waist and her arm over his shoulder to keep her standing as he quietly tried to sneak her back into her house. She giggled and shook her head, Tom loving the cute sound but also wishing that she'd quieten down so that they didn't risk waking up her parents.
"Why did we come home again? I was enjoying dancing with you." She whined, making Tom purse his lips and put his finger to them as a way of telling her to be quiet as he started to gently guide her up the stairs.
"I know that you were, but I thought that it was enough when you got too drunk to stand." He nodded as the pair just about made it to the top of the stairs.
"Boo." She whispered, making him chuckle and shake his head at how adorable she was, especially when drunk as he opened her bedroom door and guided her in before shutting it behind them.
"Okay, come on, sit down, there we go." He cooed gently as he sat her down on the edge of her bed. She leant back on her hands and seemingly watched him, though Tom was desperately trying to ignore that and the fact that it was making his heart pound harshly in his chest at the way that she was looking at him. He knew that she was drunk, and so he was trying not to look into it too much, but he also couldn't help it. She continued to admire as he got down on his knee in front of her and started to undo her shoes so that she at least wouldn't go to bed in uncomfortable heels.
"I appreciate it, Tommy, but why are you helping me?" She asked quietly. He shrugged and looked up at her through his eyelashes, a thousand answers to that question immediately coming to mind, and yet he couldn't tell her any of them. Because you're beautiful, because I like you, because I didn't want you to be in danger, because I love you, he thought.
"Because you're my friend, and I wanted you to get home safely." He stated instead as he pulled her shoes off of her feet.
"That included seeing me right to my room, did it?" She smirked. He chuckled and looked down, his heart almost exploding out of his chest and his cheeks feeling like the surface of the sun at the comment. Because Tom could swear that the drunk girl was flirting with him. And he had to admit that he liked it.
"I'm a good friend." He nodded as he stood up and turned to head for her door.
"Don't go." Her voice called out quietly. He looked over his shoulder at her, his eyebrows also furrowing and his lips parting in confusion as he turned around to fully face her again. Had he heard that correctly, or was he already falling for the girl enough that he'd just made up her asking him to stay?
"W-what?" He chuckled nervously.
"Normally, I sleep with Jacob, so I like to sleep next to someone now. Will you stay until I fall asleep?" She requested. Tom sighed, his face softening at her words. His heart was practically jumping out of his chest at the idea of sleeping with her, but he didn't know if it was a good idea. Of course, he wouldn't do anything with her, but she was absolutely fucked, and he didn't want her to regret asking him to stay tomorrow morning when she was sober.
"Y/N-."
"Please. Just until I fall asleep." She promised. He sighed again, but he knew that both of them knew that he'd give in.
"Fine, alright. Yeah." He nodded, making her smile as he kicked his shoes off. Tom crawled onto the bed and lay down next to Y/N to face her as he did. She bit her adorable lip and looked at him, both of them just looking into each other's eyes as they lay there. Tom would never get over the girl's stunning beauty, him lying here and just looking at her giving him yet another chance to admire her and fall even further for her. The thing was that even if she did have Jacob, he didn't want to stop falling. Even if it meant that he'd get hurt.
"You can put your arm over my waist. It's okay." Y/N whispered. His eyes widened slightly, his mouth once again falling open at her words as his heart started to speed up for what must have been the thousandth time that night. She wanted him...to cuddle her. She wanted to be somewhat intimate with him, the thought making butterflies swarm in his stomach.
"A-are you sure, Y/N? I don't want to make you uncomfortable." He gulped, though he could think of nothing better than cuddling the girl.
"You won't." She shook her head. He sighed and gave her a small smile, his heart fluttering in his chest as he curled his arm over her body and landed his hand against her waist. She sighed out, Tom being able to see the girl passing out from a mile away as her eyes started to flutter.
"Goodnight, Tommy." She whispered, making him gulp harshly as she leant forward so that her head was resting just against his shoulder.
"Goodnight, Y/N. Sleep well." The boy mumbled softly in return, the feeling of the girl in his arms nothing short of perfect as she finally fell unconscious. He gulped harshly, his eyes wavering as he hoped to god that she couldn't feel how rapidly his heart was beating through his neck. After all, having her asleep in his arms didn't help his deepening crush on her. He looked down at her and gently kissed her head, his mind afraid that any further movement would wake her up, and she needed the rest. He moved slightly closer to her, allowing her to rest her head fully against his shoulder and wrap his arm fully around his waist as he figured that he'd stay for a while. Because maybe after tonight, Y/N would start seeing him as more than just the boy next door. At least, that was what he hoped.
