Sick day (Peter Parker)

Requested by leoxparker: Y/N and Peter are together, and one day, Y/N is sick and so doesn't show up to school, but her phone dies so she can't tell Peter. He suspects anyway that she's sick, so he plans to go visit her after school. He writes her a cute note during class, and on his way to hers, he buys her all of her favourite snacks and buys her flowers too. He gets there, he takes care of her and helps to make her feel better.

Shivers ran through my body, shots of white-hot and ice-cold pain sprinting through me at the same time as I slowly but surely got pulled out of sleep. My eyes fluttered as I tried to force them open, but my entire being felt too weak even to do that.

"H-h-holy sh-h-hit." I whispered, my entire body shivering and aching as I pulled the covers as far around me as possible. It was official. I was sick. I had felt the start of what looked to be the flu when I'd been with my boyfriend, Peter, yesterday, and we had ended up not even kissing because I had had a sore throat and was worried about passing it on to him. I'd bet that he would be glad about that once he found out that I wasn't well.

"Honey, are you up? You're going to be late for school if you don't get ready!" I heard my mom yell from the bottom of the stairs.

"M-mom, I d-d-don't feel good!" I managed to talk back, though I had no idea if I'd been loud enough for her to hear. It was obvious that she had heard as within seconds, I heard footsteps before my door opened. Her eyes widened slightly.

"No, you don't look well, either." She sighed before leaning down and pressing the back of her hand to my forehead.

"Yeah, you have a fever, you need to stay off today. I'll call the school to tell them that you won't be coming in. Go back to sleep, try to get some rest." She nodded.

"Okay, mom, thanks." I mumbled. She gave me a small smile and gently cupped my cheek before leaving the room. I continued to shiver, my eyes already drooping again in exhaustion as I picked my phone up with shaky hands and raised it to my eye level. I clicked onto my text conversation with Peter, my hands almost too weak to even hold the phone as I started to type out a text to him at a painfully slow pace.

Y/N: Hey, Pete, I'm sick today, so won't be in scho-.

My screen went black as my phone died, making me groan and squeeze my eyes shut as I put my phone back on my bedside table. My eyes fluttered shut, my body far too weak to stay awake long enough to even plug in my phone as I fell back asleep.

Peter's P.O.V

Peter walked in the stream of students heading into the school, his earbuds in as he walked to his locker. He opened it and started shoving stuff in, his ears still filled with the music as he got ready for the day. But the music didn't stop. Peter's eyebrows furrowed and he looked around, confusion filling his head as what happened every morning...had just failed to happen. Every morning since they'd started dating a year ago, Y/N would come up to Peter and would pull out one of his earbuds before kissing him on the cheek as a way to say 'morning' to him. This morning, that didn't happen.

"Huh." Peter mumbled as he got his phone out of his pocket and turned it on. His eyebrows furrowed, more confusion entering his head as he didn't have any texts or calls from Y/N telling him that she'd be late. There was nothing. He sighed and bit his lip as he typed out a message to her before pressing 'send'.

Peter: You okay, babe? You're not here this morning? X.

He put his phone away, the most logical explanation being that Y/N was sick. He knew that yesterday, they hadn't done anything more than cuddling because she'd had a sore throat and a cough, so maybe that had gotten worse. That was what he was assuming. He sighed and shut his locker, his mind already knowing that the day would be ten times longer without Y/N there. But now, he just had to get on with it.

Peter's pen scribbled against the lined paper, the ink forming into words on the surface as he wrote the note for Y/N. He hadn't heard from his girlfriend all day, but he was assuming that if she was sick, she was probably sleeping it off. Hence why he had just finished the note for her, and hence why he was going to go to Delmar's for her favourite snacks before bringing them to her like the good boyfriend that he was. The bell signifying the end of the day rang, all of the students already standing up and rushing out as Peter folded the note neatly before putting it onto his jean pocket. He stood up and slung his backpack onto his back before heading out of the classroom, his feet soon enough walking him out of school and towards Delmar's. He pushed the door open to the small bodega, the Dominican man looking up at him as he walked in.

"Ey, hola, nino, what's up?" Mr. Delmar chuckled as Peter grabbed his usual packets of jelly worms before also grabbing a bag of chocolate for Y/N.

"Hey, Mr. Delmar, not much. Um...can I grab that box of chocolates behind you there too, please?" Peter nodded, making Mr. Delmar turn and look at the shelves of nicer chocolates and snacks that sat behind the safety of the counter.

"What did you do, hijo? Chocolate this good, you must be in trouble." He teased and shook his head, making Peter chuckle and bite his lip.

"Nah, nothing like that. My girlfriend is sick, so I'm going to go by hers on my way home and look after her. Figured that she'd appreciate something nice." He nodded.

"Aye, you're such the young romantic, huh? Your aunt raised you well." Mr. Delmar smiled as he gave Peter the box of chocolates in exchange for the ten-dollar bill that Peter put down.

"That she did, Mr. Delmar." Peter chuckled and nodded as he put the stuff into his backpack before zipping it back up.

"How is your aunt, by the way?" The man asked. Peter looked at him and raised his eyebrow.

"How's your daughter?" He quipped back.

"Mierda descarada, sal ahora." Mr. Delmar smirked and shook his head as he waved Peter off.

"Later, Mr. Delmar." Peter chuckled, the man's smirk widening as Peter left the bodega. He continued walking, his eyes looking around the all-too familiar streets as he headed over to Y/N's. He walked past a flower shop before his eyes widened. He looked back at it, a smile curling onto his lips at how romantic it would be to also bring his sick girlfriend flowers. Even if she couldn't fully appreciate them.

"You really are a young romantic, Pete." He chuckled and shook his head to himself as he headed into the flower shop.

Y/N's P.O.V

I lay in my bed, my back facing the door as I continued to shiver and whimper quietly. To say that today had been awful was the biggest fucking understatement ever. I'd been shivering cold and burning up at the same time, I hadn't been able to move due to my whole body being weak, and I hadn't been able to stomach so much as soup when I'd tried to eat. Not to mention how much I missed Peter. We'd barely spent a day apart since he'd asked me out, and so I had missed his hugs, his jokes, just him in general. I sighed and let my eyes close again, my body once again feeling too exhausted to stay awake as I cuddled further into my sheets. I groaned quietly and squeezed my eyes shut as I heard a gentle knock on my bedroom door.

"Mom, I still feel shitty, I'm trying to sleep." I mumbled.

"It's me." My eyes opened again as I heard his voice. I weakly looked over my shoulder, Peter giving me a sympathetic smile as he walked into my room and shut the door behind him, a bouquet of flowers in his spare hand.

"Pete?" I whispered.

"Yeah, baby, it's me. I figured that you were sick when you weren't in school and didn't respond to my messages." He nodded as he took his shoes off and his bag off of his back, and I tried my hardest to roll over so that I was facing him.

"Fuck, sorry. I started to type out a message to you, and then my phone died. I passed out before I could plug it in. Sorry." I muttered.

"Don't be sorry, angel, I completely understand, and it's okay. Here, I got you these." He smiled as he put the flowers on my desk. My face softened, love filling my heart at the incredibly sweet gesture.

"Aw, Pete...they're so beautiful, and that's so sweet, thank you." I choked quietly.

"I also got you some chocolates. I know that you probably won't want to eat them right now, but they're for when you feel better." He nodded as he put the box and the packet on my bedside table.

"I don't deserve you, babe." I whispered and shook my head, making him chuckle and bite his lip as he leant down and gently cupped my cheek.

"Course you do, baby. Because you'd do the exact same if I was sick." He smiled before stepping up onto my bed. My eyes widened as he climbed over my body.

"Pete, what are you doing?" I scoffed weakly as he lay down behind me so that we were spooning as he curled his arm over my waist.

"You're sick, and I can't do much to help, but what I can do is cuddle you. So, that's what I'll do." He mumbled as I felt him gently move my hair from off of my shoulder before leaning down and pressing his lips into the crease of my neck.

"But then you'll get sick too. I don't want to get you sick." I whispered as I rested my head against his other arm that was now against my pillow as I instinctively curled my back into his chest and let his body warmth cuddle me.

"If I get sick, we can be sick together, yeah, babe?" He returned gently into my ear.

"God, I love you." I smiled weakly.

"I love you too, angel." He returned, making my smile widen as my eyes closed again.

My eyes fluttered open, my body still extremely confused as to whether it was supposed to be hot or cold as I was pulled out of sleep. I looked around in confusion, my head banging and my throat feeling raw as I looked down. I couldn't help but smile as Peter's arm was still wrapped around my waist, my back still into my boyfriend's chest as we cuddled. I looked over my shoulder at him as much as I could, my heart melting as I saw that he'd also fallen asleep. His lips were slightly parted, quiet snores coming from them as he slept with me in his arms. God, he was so sweet. I turned my head back and my eyes landed on the chocolates that he had gotten me. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I saw what looked to be a small note tucked into the bow that was tied around the box of chocolates. I reached out and grabbed it with shaking hands before slowly unfolding the piece of paper. My eyes widened slightly as I started to read it.

My angel,

Some people would find this super cheesy and dumb, considering that we were only apart for a day, but I'm hoping that you'll find it romantic, and sweet. Today sucked without you. I had no one to share my earbuds with, no one to split my potato chips with like we normally do, I didn't even realise how much I love you coming up to me in the morning and taking out my earbud before kissing my cheek before you didn't do it this morning. Could have gotten Ned to do it, sure, but I feel like that would be a little weird :/

I smiled and bit my lip, a quiet chuckle leaving my lips at his words.

I'm writing this assuming that you're sick, and I hope that I end up being right, but also that you don't feel too shitty. Hopefully I can help nurse you back to health when I see you, and hopefully not get sick myself in the process. But if I do, that'll be okay, because I'll be sick with you :).

Again, I know that this is kind of lame, but I wanted you to have something nice to read for when you feel better, or for when you wake up. I hope that it worked in making you feel better in what little way that I can.

Love you, my angel.

Your Spidey-boy.

I bit my lip, my heart feeling impossibly full of love for the boy lying behind me as I gently folded the note back up and carefully placed it back on the chocolates so that I wouldn't accidentally throw it out. I slowly turned around underneath Peter's arm so that I was now facing him, the boy pulling me closer in his sleep as I curled into his chest.

"Love you too, Pete. Love you too." I whispered before resting my forehead against him and once again drifting off into sleep.
