Reunited (Peter Parker)
Requested by yourlocapieceoftrash: Y/N and Peter are best friends but at age four, he has to move away to move in with his aunt and uncle, and so he gives her a necklace to remember him by. Fifteen years go by, and Y/N moves to Queens, and still always wears the necklace. One night, her apartment sets on fire and the firemen can't get to her, so Spider-Man saves her instead. He sees the necklace around her neck and realises who she is.
"I don't want you to move away." I sniffed and shook my head as I sat on the garden wall next to my best friend, Peter.
"I don't want to move either, but my Aunt May and Uncle Ben won't listen to me. I know that mommy and daddy wouldn't make me move if they were here, but my Uncle Ben says that they're going to be gone for a while, so I have to stay with them until they get back." He huffed.
"I hope that they come back soon, because you're my bestest friend in the world, and I don't want you to go." I whined as I wrapped my arms around him in a hug.
"I don't want to go either." The boy sighed into my ear, his curly hair tickling my cheek as we hugged.
"Peter, honey, we have to go soon." We pulled away as Peter's Aunt May walked towards us.
"Can I have the thing, Aunt May?" Peter asked, both of us looking up at the tall woman as she stood over us.
"Course, Pete. Here you go." She nodded, making my eyes widen slightly as she gave Peter a beautiful necklace with a small heart on it.
"That's so pretty, where did you get that?" I asked as May walked away and I stared at the necklace in awe.
"It's Aunt May's, but since we're leaving, she said that I could give it to you. To let you remember me by something." He nodded.
"I'll remember you anyways. I'll remember the times that we've read those picture books together, when we've played together, when you've let me play the prince and you've played the princess in pretend." I giggled, making Peter return it and nod.
"I know, but you can't forget this. This is forever." He nodded as he gently put the necklace into my hand. I stared down at it, tears pricking my eyes at the idea of never feeling my best friend in the whole world again.
"Thank you, Peter. I love it and I'll never take it off." I shook my head. He gave me a small smile and nodded as he jumped down from the wall and ran to his Uncle Ben's car.
"Here we go, buddy, time for our adventure." His Uncle smiled, making Peter squeal as Ben lifted him up and put him into the car.
"Mommy, can you put this on me, please? Peter gave it to me." I nodded as my mom walked towards me.
"Aw, isn't that cute, honey? It's a beautiful necklace too. Where did he get it from?" She asked as she took it from me and gently clipped it around my neck, the length of it meaning that the heart dangled over my stomach.
"His Aunt May said that he could give it to me, as a way to remember him." I replied.
"Isn't that sweet? You going to miss him, baby?" She asked. I nodded and looked at the car as it started to drive away, a tear rolling down my face as I watched my best friend leave the street for the last time.
"Yeah. I'm really going to miss him." I nodded.
~Fifteen years later~
I stood in the middle of my apartment, my eyes wide and an exacerbated sigh leaving my lips as I stared at the seemingly hundreds of boxes that I had to unpack.
"Lord help me, where do I even start?" I whispered to myself as I looked around. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, my fingers raising to hold the small heart around my neck like I always did when I was stressed.
"Come on, Y/N. It's just unpacking. Take a deep breath and just start." I whispered to myself before letting my eyes flutter open again. I sighed and bit my lip as I opened a random box and started to remove the contents of it, the memory of that day still playing in my head as I unpacked. It had been fifteen years since my best friend, Peter Parker, had lost his parents in an airplane crash and so had moved to Queens with his Aunt and Uncle. Of course at the time, being a pair of four-year-olds, we hadn't been told why he had to move and why he wouldn't see his parents again, but what mattered to me was that that was the day that I'd seen him for the last time. I sighed and continued to unpack, my fingers fiddling with the small heart locket that I hadn't taken off since Peter had given it to me. It had been the only material thing that I'd had left to remember him by, and even at four, I'd harboured a massive crush on the adorable boy, and so I had never taken it off since I'd first put it on. But now I had the chance to reconnect with him. I was now nineteen and had just moved to Queens to attend university in New York, and I was ecstatic. After all, the one thing that I still knew about Peter was that he had moved to Queens all of those years ago, and according to mutual friends, had never left. And so, I was going to figure out a way to find him, and was going to reconnect with him. That was the plan, anyway. Suddenly, my fire alarm started going off, making me yelp out and jump in surprise as I looked up at the alarm.
"What the fuck?" I mumbled, confusion filling my head as to why it had gone off. My apartment wasn't on fire. Or it wasn't until I looked down at my front door. My eyes widened, my heart leaping in fear as I saw the soft orange glow from underneath my door before it was choked out by black smoke billowing into my room from the small crack.
"Fuck, no, shit." I gulped as I rushed back to my boxes. I threw each one open, my heart starting to face and my apartment gradually getting hotter as I fumbled to find a towel. I grabbed one from the box and raced back to the door before shoving it into the crack in a weak attempt to stop the smoke from filling my apartment, but the room was already getting full. I grabbed the doorknob, a cry leaving my lips as it was red-hot to the touch. Meaning that I was trapped.
"This can't be it, no, fuck." I choked, my shaking hands grabbing my phone and dialing '911' before holding my phone to my ear.
"Nine-one-one, what's your emergency-."
"My apartment building is on fire, it's reaching my apartment and my room is filling up with black smoke, I live in apartment three-forty of the South-side apartment block, please send help." I choked and coughed, my hand raising to cover my mouth as my room continued to fill with black smoke.
"It's okay, ma'am, help is on the way, we've already received several reports of that building being on fire. I just need you to stay calm and stay put until someone can get to you." My eyes widened at her words.
"No, n-no, I can't stay here, my apartment is filling with black smoke and I'm losing oxygen by the second, I'll die if I stay here for much longer." I choked and shook my head, tears starting to leave my eyes and my throat starting to become raw from breathing in the smoke as the realisation hit me. This could be where I died. If no one came for me in the next ten minutes or so, if they didn't make it to me in time, I'd run out of air and wouldn't make it out. I wouldn't get to see Peter again. And that broke my heart.
"Do you have windows that you can open? Open windows will give you access to clean air." She spoke.
"It's a new apartment, I-I don't have the keys for the windows yet, please-I can't breathe, please." I sobbed, my heart starting to feel dizzy as I breathed in more of the smoke.
"Ma'am, I need you to hold on, help is coming soon, just breathe." My throat felt raw, no more fresh air getting into my lungs as my head spun. My eyes fluttered shut, my legs collapsing underneath me as I fell to the floor. I fought for one last breath and to keep my eyes open, but nothing but smoke and the orange hue of flames surrounded me. I raised my hand weakly to hold the small heart around my neck, fear running through me as my eyes fluttered shut, and stayed shut.
Peter's P.O.V
"God, I'm so bored." Peter groaned, his legs dangling over the edge of the roof and his mask on the concrete next to him as he waited for something, anything, to happen.
"You're not about to be, Peter. I'm getting reports of a huge fire breaking out in the South-side apartment block. Several people are trapped, and all emergency services are on scene but requesting urgent back-up." Karen responded into comms. His eyes widened.
"Oh, awesome! I mean, not awesome, people could die, but tell the services that I'm on my way." He nodded as he shot to his feet and pulled his mask on before jumping off of the edge. He fired a web at a nearby building and started to soar through the air as he made his way to the fire.
"Holy shit." He mumbled, his eyes widening as even from a mile away, he could see the orange glow of the building on fire.
"This is bad, Peter." Karen spoke into his ear.
"Yeah, no shit." He gulped as he edged closer. He landed ten feet away, his body already being able to feel the heat of the completely engulfed structure as he ran towards the firemen.
"Guys, what can I do to help?!" He yelled, alerting them to his presence as they looked at him.
"Most people are out, but we still have someone trapped. A nineteen-year-old woman in apartment three-forty. She was told to stay put and so collapsed before she could get out, and now we can't get to her either." The fireman nodded.
"Which window is that?" Peter asked as he looked up at the building.
"That one, to the left." The fireman pointed up.
"Alright, I got it. Have oxygen masks and a stretcher ready for when I come out." He nodded.
"You got it, Spider-Man." The fireman replied as Peter fired a web at the wall and launched himself up. He ran up the wall, the heat coming off of the building feeling like a furnace as he dodged the windows that were engulfed in the flames.
"Fuck me. Karen, I don't think this woman is still alive, this thing is way too hot." He scoffed and shook his head as he got to the window. He looked in, a sigh leaving his lips as surely enough, he saw the woman lying on the floor, unconscious.
"Please be alive." He gulped before grabbing the top of the window. He used it to swing himself back, his feet colliding with the glass and breaking as he swung himself towards it again. He launched into the room, his hand landing between his feet before he stood up.
"Fuck me, it's hot in here." He puffed out, flames engulfing the room as he raced to the woman and gently pulled her onto his lap and into his arms. He put two fingers to her neck, a sigh of relief leaving his lips as he felt a pulse.
"Karen, tell the firemen that I have a pulse and so I need oxygen for her as soon as I'm back on the ground." He nodded as his eyes scanned over her. But then they stopped at her neck. His eyes widened, his heart plummeting to his feet at the small heart locket that she had around her neck. The one that he had given to his best friend fifteen years ago.
"Oh my god." He whispered, tears pricking his eyes as he realised. In his arms, he was holding Y/N. He had gone into a burning building to save the love of his life and old best friend without even realising that she was who he was saving.
"Fuck, okay, you're going to be okay, Y/N, I promise." He choked as he picked her up bridal-style and quickly rushed to the window. He jumped out of it, Y/N protectively held in his arms as he jumped the distance and landed on the ground.
"She's alive but she needs oxygen now. She's going to be okay, right?" Peter gulped as he gently put her onto the stretcher and immediately an oxygen mask was put over her mouth and nose.
"She'll be taken to Queens General Hospital just to make sure that no damage is permanent. Thanks, Spider-Man. We're all done here, you can go." The paramedic nodded, Peter watching with tear-pricked eyes as they pushed her into the back of the ambulance before shutting the doors.
"R-right, yeah, the job is done. O-okay, I'll see you guys around." Peter nodded, not waiting for anyone to respond as he fired a web and launched himself out of there. He landed on a roof, his hands fumbling to pull his mask off so that he could breathe. He coughed as soon as the material was off, his lungs filling themselves with fresh air as he collapsed onto the concrete. He gulped harshly and looked up at the stars, tears leaving his eyes. He really had just saved the love of his life from a very painful and slow death. He'd saved the girl who he never thought that he'd see again, but had thought about every single day since giving her that necklace fifteen years ago. And now just his luck, she was here in Queens, and had nearly been charred to death on what looked to be one of her first days here.
"Karen, we're going to Queens General Hospital. Find out what room Y/N Y/L/N is in by the time that I get there, please." Peter demanded as he stood back up and pulled his mask back on.
"On it, Peter." The AI responded, making him gulp and nod as he jumped off of the building again.
Y/N's P.O.V
My eyes fluttered open, loud coughs starting to leave my lips as my throat felt bone dry.
"Hey, hey, take it easy, you're alright." I opened my eyes fully, them widening as I saw Spider-Man stood over me.
"Woah, what the fuck?!" I gasped, making his white eyes widen as I scrambled up the bed so that I was sitting up.
"Woah, hey, it's okay, you're alright, you're safe." The hero gulped as he outstretched his hands to me. I stared at him with wide eyes, my mind and heart racing as I tried to figure out what was happening.
"Where am I?" I gulped as I looked around what appeared to be a hospital room. The problem was why I was here.
"You're in the hospital. You're okay, you're fine, but your apartment building set on fire. You took in a lot of smoke and passed out, but obviously I got you out. You're okay, though. They just wanted to keep you in for observation, but they're happy to discharge you now." He explained. I choked, my eyes wavering as I listened to what the hero said. I had almost died. I had come here with the hopes of starting my university career and reconnecting with Peter, and instead, I'd almost died on only my first night here. Sounded about right for my luck of things.
"Fuck...fuck me, I almost died. Oh my god." I choked and shook my head as tears spilled from my eyes.
"I know that it's scary and upsetting, but it's important to remember that you're safe. You didn't die. You got out and you're okay. You're alive." Spider-Man reassured as he gently rested his hand on my shoulder. I gulped and looked at him.
"I'm alive because of you. Thank you, so much, Spider-Man. I can never repay you for saving my life." I shook my head.
"Eh, it's okay. All part of the job." He chuckled and shrugged nonchalantly, making me smile at him.
"I don't usually ask people for favours for me saving their lives because saving people is just the right thing to do. But I am going to ask for a favour from you. You can show your gratitude by following me." He nodded. My eyebrows furrowed at his words.
"Sorry, what? You may be a superhero, Spidey, but I'm not about to follow a stranger to an undisclosed location." I scoffed and shook my head.
"I get that, and that's very sensible, but on this occasion, I need you to trust me. I'm not going to do anything to you, you know that. I'm asking that you trust me." He spoke softly. I sighed and bit my lip at him, the superhero staring back at me as I tried to make my mind up.
"Fine, okay. But if you murder me, I'm going to the press to tell them that you're actually a villain." I teased, making him laugh as I started to get out of the bed.
"That's a fair deal." He chuckled, making me smile at him as I started to get dressed.
Spider-Man flew us across Queens, my legs wrapped tightly around his waist, my arms wrapped tightly around his shoulders and my face buried into his neck as he flew me back to whatever he wanted to show me. I peeled an eye open as suddenly the wind stopped whipping around us, making me sigh in relief as I saw that we'd landed on a fire escape.
"Okay, well, I'm never doing that again." I scoffed, making him laugh as I gently peeled myself off of him before looking around.
"Where are we?" I asked as he opened the window that led onto the fire escape and moved through it into the bedroom.
"This is my home. More specifically, my bedroom." He chuckled, making me narrow my eyes at him as he outstretched his hand for me to take.
"If you think that I'm going to fuck you as a 'thank you' for saving my life, sorry, Spidey, but you're very sorely mistaken." I teased, making him laugh as I put my hand into his and climbed into his room.
"No, I'm not that type of guy. Just have a look around, I guess." He shrugged. My eyebrows furrowed at his request, my mind racing with questions but I sighed and started to look around the room anyway. To my surprise, it didn't look like the room of a thirty-something-year-old guy, which is what I expected Spider-Man to be. Instead, it looked like the room of a teenage boy, maybe an eighteen or nineteen-year-old boy.
"Spidey, seriously, why did you bring me here?" I scoffed as I looked over my shoulder at him.
"Just trust me and keep looking." He chuckled as he leant against the desk behind me. I sighed and turned back to the bookshelf that I was looking at, my eyes wandering over the comics and books that sat there. Until my eyes fell on the photo frame. They widened, my pupils wavering as I saw the photo within the frame. The photo of Peter and I as children, the one that his Aunt had taken just hours before he had moved away.
"No." I whispered and shook my head, tears starting to leave my eyes as my heart raced in my chest. It couldn't be Peter, Spider-Man couldn't be Peter. The Peter that I had known, whilst I'd loved him, had been afraid of his own shadow, and was still very quiet according to all accounts. No way was my Peter the Spider-Man.
"Y/N." I looked over my shoulder at him again, a choke leaving my lips as Peter now sat there, his mask off and clutched in his hand instead as he timidly looked at me. I turned around to fully face him, my mouth hanging open as I slowly moved towards him.
"You're...y-you're Spider-Man...you're really him." I whispered. He nodded and gave me a timid smile.
"Surprise." He chuckled nervously, the panic laced into the beautiful eyes that I'd waited every day to see telling me that internally, he was freaking the fuck out. One more choke left my lips before I hugged him tightly, my arms wrapping around his neck as I rested against him. He returned the hug immediately, his arms locking around my waist as we buried our faces into each other's hair.
"I thought that I'd never see you again. I was about to die and the only thing that I could think of was the fact that I'd never get to hug you again." I sobbed into his shoulder.
"It's okay, you're okay. I'm right here, and you're safe." He cooed, his lips gently pressing to my hair as his hands reassuringly rubbed up and down my back.
"I've waited every day for fifteen years to see you again, Pete. I love you, and there wasn't a day that went by when I didn't miss you." I cried and shook my head as I pulled away, but only enough to look at him. He bit his lip and smiled at me, tears also running down his face as he held my cheek.
"Good, because I love you too. The moment that I saw you in that building, I couldn't believe my luck. I couldn't believe that I was having to save your life, that you almost died, but I also couldn't believe that I was really seeing you again after so long. I was seeing the love of my life again." He admitted as his hand gently stroked my skin. I laughed at his confession, making him smile as I leant in and smashed our lips together. He returned the kiss immediately, our eyes fluttering shut and my body leaning against his as we kissed. I broke the kiss and touched our foreheads, my mind afraid to open my eyes in case I woke up to find that this whole thing had been some kind of sick dream. But the feeling of Peter's spandex-covered hand reassured me that no, this was real. It was fucking real. I opened my eyes, a smile immediately spreading onto my lips to find that Peter was already looking right back at me.
"I've waited for fifteen years to kiss you like that." He nodded, making me laugh and bite my lip as he held me.
"Well, now you can do it as much as you want. Because if you want me, then I'm yours." I shook my head.
"Good. Because I want you." He reassured.
"I want you too, Pete. I always have." I smiled, making him return it and cup my face as he leant in and kissed me again.
