Friendly neighbour *part 1* (Tom Holland)
Requested by ryoung220: Tom and Y/N are neighbours, and one night, there's a spider in Y/N's apartment. She goes over to her neighbour's to get rid of it, but she's only really seen him a few times whilst entering her apartment. She knocks on Tom's door and he gets rid of it for her. It becomes a constant thing for Tom to remove any spiders from Y/N's apartment, so as a thanks, Y/N invites him over for a takeaway and a movie. They have a nice night together, and Y/N ends up falling asleep on Tom.
"Tom! It's me! Please!" I yelled as I rapidly hammered my fist against my neighbour and crush's door. After a moment, it opened, making me smile sheepishly at him.
"Where's the little asshole this time?" Tom chuckled.
"Thank you." I smiled apologetically, making him chuckle again and shake his head as I took his hand and pulled him across the hallway to my open apartment door.
"It's in the bath, I can't even go in there right now." I shook my head, Tom's eyebrows furrowing as he walked into my bathroom and bent over the side of the bath to look at the spider.
"Oh, yeah, I see him. Give me the stuff." He mumbled, his eyes glued to it as he reached his arm out behind him. I grabbed the glass and the coaster from the side that I kept specifically for this before putting them into Tom's hand. He carefully lowered them into the tub, the boy's gorgeous eyes glued to the horrible little insect as he put the glass over it with a small clink.
"There we go, everything is okay." He chuckled, making me gulp and try not to freak out too much as he slid the coaster underneath the glass before lifting it.
"I'd love to see your reaction if I just dropped this glass, right now." Tom teased with a smile as he carefully stood up with the glass and coaster holding the spider into the glass. My eyes widened.
"Thomas Stanley Holland, we will never be friends again if you do that." I scoffed. He smirked and winked at me, the action making my cheeks heat up in a blush as he moved through my apartment and to my open living room windows. I loved when Tom did things like call me nicknames and wink at me, though none of that stuff helped my growing crush on him. Especially as I doubted that he felt the same. Tom and I had been neighbours for about three years now, but hadn't really become friends until about six months ago. Sure, we had seen each other in passing, and I had developed a secret crush on the insanely attractive boy despite not really knowing him. But then six months ago, everything had changed. And it had all changed because I had found a spider in my apartment.
I stood at my sink, my hands submerged in soapy water as I did my dishes. I sighed and turned the faucet off as I put the last mug onto the drying rack before grabbing the towel and drying my hands. I turned around and my eyes widened. I screamed loudly, my feet scrambling back against the floor to get me as far away as possible from the spider that was sitting on my kitchen island. I gulped and looked at it, my anxiety spiking and my heart racing as I stared at the disgusting little creature. For as long as I could remember, I had been a pretty bad sufferer of arachnophobia, meaning that even a picture of a spider scared the shit out of me. So now, when I lived alone and had a spider in my apartment, I was confronted with a problem. The way that I saw it, I had two options. I could either burn the place to the ground and take the spider with it...or I could get a neighbour to get it out for me. I sighed and looked at the time. Ten-twenty p.m. In theory, it wasn't too late to bother someone else on my floor, but I also wasn't sure how kindly the unlucky soul would take to me potentially waking them up for a spider. But also, I knew fine well that I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing that that thing was in my apartment. I gulped and dropped the towel before rushing to my front door and opening it. I popped my head out into the hallway, my lip in between my teeth as pure silence engulfed the space. Implying that everyone was asleep.
"Fuck." I groaned quietly as I weighed up my options. Suddenly, my eyes flicked up to the door right across the hallway from me. I gulped, my heart jumping slightly in my chest as I knew who lived there. Tom Holland. I barely knew the guy, apart from the polite 'hey' and smile whenever we were coming home at the same time and so saw each other entering our apartments, but I definitely wouldn't complain if we became more well-acquainted. After all, the guy who I estimated to be around my own age of twenty-four was extremely attractive, and was nothing but kind and generous from what I'd seen of him. I was thinking that he was my best bet. I sighed and reluctantly stepped out of my apartment, my anxiety still forcing my heart into my throat as I padded the short distance across the hallway to get to his door. I gulped harshly as I raised my fist. I took a deep breath before gently knocking against the material. After a few moments, I heard quiet shuffling, my eyes widening as the door opened. I gulped again, all of the heat rushing to my cheeks at what I saw. Tom stood in nothing but a low-hanging pair of sweatpants, his unruly curls telling me that he was probably close to turning in for the night. But boy did he look good. His eyebrows furrowed as he saw me.
"Oh, hey. It's, um, Y/N, right?" He asked with a confused smile. My eyes widened slightly, my heart once again jumping in my chest. He knew my name.
"Y-yeah, and you're Tom?" I pretended to check, even though I knew the answer.
"That's right." He chuckled and nodded.
"Awesome, um...I'm so sorry to do this to you, especially at this time, but there's a spider in my apartment, and I have really bad arachnophobia, so could you please get it out for me?" I asked sheepishly. His eyes narrowed at me, and I could tell that the boy was trying not to smirk or laugh.
"You...want me to remove a spider from your apartment for you?" He chuckled.
"I'm so sorry, I really wouldn't ask if I thought that I could do it myself. Actually, forget it, it's stupid, I'm sorry." I gulped and shook my head.
"No, no, it's okay, I don't mind." He smiled, making me look at him as he stepped out of his apartment and shut the door.
"A-are you sure?" I checked.
"Yeah, it's fine. Though, I must admit that this wasn't how I was hoping that we'd meet for the first time." He admitted as he walked into my apartment. My eyes widened, my heart jumping in my chest again at his words.
"Meaning what, exactly?" I chuckled nervously. He looked at me, his eyes widening slightly at my question, as if he didn't want to answer before he looked around my apartment.
"Where is it?" He asked as he changed the subject. I tried not to smirk at the avoidance of the question, that in itself being enough to suggest something as I walked to the doorway of my kitchen.
"Just in there. God, I can't even go in there with that also in there." I winced.
"I must admit that I'm also not a fan of spiders, but when a beautiful girl asks you to remove a spider, you remove a spider." He subtly flirted, making me smile and bite my lip as he headed into my kitchen. My smile dipped as I watched him, my anxiety spiking again as he slowly moved to grab a glass so that the spider wouldn't move.
"Hey, there, you disgusting little creature...everything is all good..." Tom spoke as he slowly walked to the counter. He gently placed the glass over the spider, making me sigh out in relief and hold a hand to my chest as he successfully trapped it.
"Thank you so much, I wouldn't have been able to sleep in this apartment tonight if I'd known that it was still in here." I gulped as he slid a coaster underneath the glass before going to my kitchen window.
"It's okay, it's no bother." He reassured, making me smile as he tipped the spider out of the window.
"Any time that you need to get rid of a spider in the future, you know where to find me. Or, you know, you can just sleep at mine instead." He shrugged. My eyes widened again at the subtle flirting, my cheeks feeling hotter than the sun as he walked back through my apartment.
"I barely know you, Tom." I scoffed.
"We need to change that, then." He smiled as he got to his apartment door and looked back at me. I returned it and bit my lip.
"Yeah. We do." I nodded, making him chuckle and shake his head as he opened his apartment door.
"Goodnight, love. Great to finally meet you." He spoke.
"Night, Tom. Great to meet you too." I returned. He gave me one last smile, making me return it and my heart flutter as he shut his apartment door. I breathed out, my eyes widening at the whole situation that I had just found myself in as I shut my door too. My insanely hot neighbour had not only left his apartment late at night to get rid of a spider for someone that he didn't know, but he also flirted with me the entire time. That couldn't have gone better if I'd tried. I squealed to myself, my heart fluttering and my mind giddy as I tried to process everything that had just happened.
"And...he's gone." Tom chuckled, making me sigh in relief as he tipped the spider out of my window.
"As always, thank you." I smiled.
"You know that I'm always up for helping you, sweetheart." He returned, making me playfully roll my eyes and shake my head at the boy's constant flirting as he put the glass and coaster down before heading back to my front door. Since that night six months ago, I had gone to Tom every, and I meant every, time that I had a spider in my apartment. And every time, the boy had made me blush like crazy by flirting with me. Though, nothing more had come of it yet, and so I was starting to wonder if he was just being friendly, and if I was almost overthinking the flirtatious remarks and the nicknames towards me. Not that it mattered right now, anyway.
"Goodnight, darling. As always, sleep well in your spider-less apartment, and come join me if you find another one." He smiled as he opened his front door, and I watched from mine.
"I will do, Tommy, you know that I'm taking that offer up the second that I can." I returned.
"Please do." He quipped back, making me smirk and shake my head as he shut his front door, and I shut mine too.
I knocked on Tom's apartment door and waited for an answer like I always did. It opened after a few moments, Tom's eyebrows furrowing as he saw me.
"Hey, love...you're looking a lot calmer than you usually are when you find a spider." He teased, making me playfully roll my eyes at him as he leant against his doorframe.
"That's because I'm not here for that, for once. I'm here to invite you over for a takeaway and a movie. I hope that you like Chinese food." I smiled as I raised the plastic bag. His eyebrows furrowed, his smile dipping slightly as he stood up straight.
"Sounds lovely. What's the occasion?" He chuckled.
"Not an occasion, more of a 'thank you'. You've gotten what must be hundreds of spiders out of my apartment in the last six months, which is fucking impressive considering that you also don't like them. And it occurred to me that I never do anything to thank you past just saying those words. So, the food is on me, and you can pick the movie, and we can hang out as the 'thank you'. If you're up for that, of course." I nodded nervously, my heart jumping slightly at the possibility of him saying no. His lips curled into a smile.
"Sounds perfect, darling. Let me just grab my phone and my keys, yeah?" He nodded. My eyes widened slightly, my stomach twisting at the fact that he'd actually said yes.
"Yeah, sure. I'll just be in my apartment. I'm pretty sure that you know where that is by now." I teased, making him smirk and shake his head as he headed back into his apartment, and I unlocked mine.
"I'm being serious, I also really don't like spiders." Tom shook his head, making me almost fall off of my sofa in laughter as we sat in my living room and ate in front of the movie that we'd put on.
"You literally play 'Spider-Man', AND you've been getting every spider out of my apartment for six months!" I exclaimed.
"Okay but for me, they don't show me getting bitten, so that was fine. And it's like I said on the first night that I did it, when a beautiful girl asks you to remove a spider, you remove a spider." He scoffed and nodded as he poked around his carton of noodles with his chopsticks. My smile dipped at his words, my heart jumping for what must have been the millionth time tonight at the feelings that came with him flirting.
"Do you really think that? That I'm beautiful?" I asked quietly. Tom looked back up at me.
"Of course I do. I don't say stuff that I don't mean, love." He chuckled and shook his head. I smiled and nodded in response as I looked down, my cheeks blushing harshly as I bit my lip.
"For what it's worth, I think that you're very handsome too." I complimented back as I looked at him again.
"Thank you, darling. I appreciate that." He nodded. I returned it and bit my lip, both of our eyes flicking over each other's faces as we seemingly admired each other.
"H-how, um...how about the movie, then?" I asked as I put my carton of food back onto the coffee table, something stopping me from leaning in and kissing Tom as I turned to face the TV.
"Yes, the movie." He chuckled, making me return it as he also put his carton down before putting his arm around me. My eyes widened slightly at the action, my heart fluttering like crazy at the love that Tom was showing me. That he always showed me. I snuggled further into him and rested my head against his chest, a smile curling onto my lips as I felt him kiss my head gently. I sighed out, my entire body feeling completely safe and at home in Tom's arms as my eyes started to flutter shut.
Tom's P.O.V
Tom and Y/N sat on her sofa, the girl cuddled into his arms as she lay against him. He laughed quietly at a line in the movie, his eyebrows furrowing as he expected Y/N to laugh too. He looked down at her.
"Love? You okay?" he asked softly. He looked further down so that he could see her face, a smile curling onto his lips and his heart almost bursting with love and happiness as her eyes were closed. His crush had fallen asleep on him. That was so fucking cute. He sat up straight again, the smile seemingly plastered onto his face as she cuddled up against him. From the moment that Tom had first seen Y/N, he had thought that she was stunning, and so he hadn't believed his luck when she had knocked on his door six months ago to ask him to remove a spider for her. And then when she'd kept coming back. The pair had developed a solid friendship in that time. Well, it wasn't friendship for Tom. He was falling in love with her at this point, her beautiful face and body being paired with an equally flawless personality that was always kind and loving. Tom wanted nothing more than to ask her out, it was just finding the right time to do it. And it was also whether or not this counted as the first date. But given that they'd been laughing together all night and now she was very much asleep on him, he figured that it did. He leant down and gently kissed her head again, his heart and mind so full of love for her. And all because she'd found a spider in her apartment. Tom owed it all to that.
