Back of the car *part 2* (Tom Holland)
My throat burned, my hands tightly gripping the porcelain bowl of the toilet seat as I threw up into it. I threw up again, a sigh leaving my lips as I sat back and rested against the wall of mine and Tom's bathroom. But with the sickness came happiness. I smiled tiredly and shook my head as I looked down at my stomach before gently placing my hand over it. It had been two months since Tom and I had tried once again for a baby in our car on the way home from Harrison's dinner party, and it was looking like our attempt had worked. My period was nearly a month late, I had been having the weirdest cravings and now I was on my eighth day in a row of starting the day by seeing my breakfast come back up and end up in the toilet. All that was left to confirm the pregnancy was the test that Tom was currently out buying. I knew that I was, but I couldn't wait for the moment where the word 'pregnant' would appear in the small window on the plastic stick. After all, Tom and I had been dating for five years now and had decided a year ago to start trying for a baby, so it made my heart jump in happiness to think that this could be it. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked up as I heard the front door open.
"Darling?" I heard Tom call out as the door shut again.
"In the bathroom, Tommy. Just like every other morning this week." I chuckled, partly to myself. He appeared at the door, a sympathetic and tentative smile on his lips as he walked into the bathroom.
"You okay, love of my life?" He smiled, making me chuckle and shake my head as he sat down on the edge of the bath and started to gently rub my back.
"No. For the eighth morning in a row, your child has made sure that my breakfast has re-appeared only five minutes after I've eaten. I nodded.
"Let's hope that it is because of my child, and not just some stomach bug...that also makes you have weird cravings...and no period for a month." He mumbled as he narrowed his eyes at himself.
"Give me the test and we'll find out." I spoke as I outstretched my hand. He nodded and took a deep breath as he pulled the pregnancy test box out of his jacket pocket before handing it to me.
"Let's do this." I nodded, making him return it and kiss my head as I stood up.
I paced the floor in front of mine and Tom's bed, my arms crossed over my chest and my teeth nervously biting at my nail as Tom sat on the edge of our bed. My boyfriend's eyes were glued to the test that was in between his fingers, his lip in between his teeth as he looked at it.
"Has it come up yet?" I gulped as I stopped and turned to look at him.
"Nope, not yet." He shook his head, his eyes not moving from the test. I sighed and bit my lip as I started to pace again, my heart racing in my chest. Deep down, both of us knew that I was pregnant, all of the symptoms at the exact same time, eight weeks after we'd last had unprotected sex, being too coincidental to be anything other than pregnancy. But now I'd hyped it up so much in my head that if I wasn't pregnant, I'd be heartbroken. I didn't want to end up heartbroken.
"Anything yet?" I asked again as I looked at him
"Not yet, darling." Tom shook his head, making me groan as I started pacing again. I bit my lip.
"How about now-."
"Y/N, sweetheart, I will tell you the second that it comes up, okay?" He smiled as he looked up at me. I sighed and gave him an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry, I'm just terrified that I've convinced myself that I'm pregnant, I've bigged it up so much that I'll just be let down when I'm not pregnant." I mumbled. Tom's eyes wavered as he looked at me.
"Come here, darling." He nodded as he patted the bit of bed next to him. I sighed and gulped as I sat down next to him, my boyfriend's arm curling around my waist as I rested my head on his shoulder.
"You're pregnant, love. You must be, everything is too coincidental, all this stick does is confirm it. You're pregnant, it's okay. Don't worry, because we know that the test is going to be positive. It's going to be." He reassured.
"I know, I know. We've just been waiting so long for this, I just want it so badly to happen." I choked.
"And it will, darling. If by some twisted turn of fate, you're not pregnant, we'll do it soon. It'll happen, okay?" He mumbled as he gently massaged my waist as he kissed my head.
"Okay." I whispered. He gave me a small smile before looking at the stick. His eyes wavered, making me gulp harshly as I sat up.
"It's negative, isn't it? God, I was sure that it would be positive." I choked and shook my head.
"Love, no, it's positive." He stated as he looked at me. My eyes widened, my heart jumping and a choke leaving my lips at his words.
"No, it's not. What?" I shook my head as I took the test from him. My eyes widened further, my entire body filling with pure happiness as the tiny word 'pregnant' sat in the window.
"Oh my god. I'm pregnant, I'm fucking pregnant!" I exclaimed.
"We're having a baby!" Tom laughed as he tightly wrapped his arms around me in a hug. I returned it, tears starting to leave my eyes as I held onto him.
"We did it, Tommy, we finally did it! We're pregnant!" I cried and shook my head as I pulled away but only enough to hold his face. He looked at me with red and puffy eyes, the biggest smile that I'd ever seen on my boyfriend's face as he looked into my eyes.
"I'm so fucking happy, darling. We're having a baby, I can't believe it." He choked and shook his head. I bit my lip, tears running down both of our faces as we just held each other.
"I love you, Tommy. So fucking much. And I love our baby already so much." I smiled.
"It sounds so weird hearing you say that." He chuckled, making me laugh and bite my lip as he looked at my stomach before gently putting his hand over it.
"You'll get used to it soon enough, because I'll be saying it at every chance that I get." I nodded.
"Good. Because I love the sound of it." He smiled, making me return it as I leant in and kissed him.
"Here you go, mate." Tom spoke as he handed Harrison a beer, the boy sitting on the sofa in our living room as I sat on the one opposite him.
"Cheers, mate." Harrison smiled as Tom sat down next to me and curled his arm around my waist. Harrison's eyebrows furrowed at me.
"You not having a wine or anything, Y/N?" He asked. I shook my head and bit my lip as I glanced at Tom.
"Um, no. I'm not drinking right now." I stated as Tom raised his beer to his lips and tried not to smile.
"Oh. How come, if you don't mind me asking?" He chuckled.
"You're very welcome to ask, considering that the reason is why we invited you over." Tom nodded as he sat forward and put his beer down. Harrison's eyebrows furrowed.
"What are you guys talking about? What's going on?" He chuckled nervously. I bit my lip and looked at Tom, him returning the glance as he looked at Harrison.
"We finally did it. Y/N is pregnant." Tom admitted, both of us trying not to smile too much as we looked at his best friend. The blond boy's eyes widened and his mouth fell open.
"Oh my god, no way! That's amazing, that's such good news!" He laughed.
"We thought so too." I smiled at Tom as he kissed my head and pulled me closer.
"That's so good! I know that you've been trying for a while now. Do you know what finally did the trick?" He smiled widely as he looked between us. My eyes widened slightly, my mouth falling open slightly as I looked at Tom. Of course he fucking asked, I thought as his eyes narrowed.
"Promise that you won't judge us." Tom spoke slowly. Harrison's eyebrows furrowed.
"Why would I judge you? Where were you having sex to conceive this baby?" He chuckled nervously again. I sighed and bit my lip.
"Well, you see, after your dinner party two months ago, a certain pregnant someone-."
"Don't blame me, you were just as horny." I scoffed and shook my head, making Harrison's eyes widen.
"Oh, god, tell me that you guys didn't have sex in my garden or something." He winced.
"Ew, no, Haz. But, um...we did have sex in a car park, in the back of the car on our way home." Tom admitted with a sheepish smile. Harrison's eyes widened, his mouth falling open once again.
"Wow. When I tell you guys that I've had sex in some odd places, I mean it, but I've never fucked my girlfriend in the back of my car, we can actually control ourselves for long enough to get home." He chuckled and shook his head.
"Well, it worked, didn't it? I'm finally pregnant. And the reason that we told you like this is because we want you to be the baby's godfather." I admitted, Tom nodding along as he gently rubbed his hand up and down my back. Harrison's eyes wavered.
"Oh my god...really? Guys, it would be an honour, wow, thank you." He smiled and shook his head.
"It would only be in name, since we're not religious, we're not having them Christened or anything, but we'd just feel more at ease knowing that if something were to happen, we don't have to put the sudden burden on either of our families to look after them. We want you to look after our child if anything happens." Tom nodded.
"Yes, guys, I'd be honoured. But of course, let's hope that nothing does go wrong. I'm so happy for you guys, this is so amazing." Harrison smiled. I bit my lip and returned it, tears pricking my eyes as I looked at Tom. At the love of my life who I was finally having a baby with, after a whole year of trying. It was finally happening.
"It really is. And we can't wait." Tom shook his head as his gaze flicked between my eyes and my lips, making my smile widen and a tear of happiness leave my eye as I leant in and gently kissed him.
