Always forever (Peter Parker)

Requested by MyMischeifisManaged: Y/N is in the kitchen, getting a midnight snack and listening to music when Peter comes in to also get a snack, and they run into each other. 'Always Forever' by Cults starts to play and so Y/N and Peter end up slow dancing together.

I sat in bed, my back against the headboard and my eyes glued to the bright screen of my laptop that was on my lap as I watched random videos on YouTube. I looked at the time, a quiet sigh escaping my lips as the numbers twelve-fifteen a.m. stared back at me in the harsh light. I had tried to fall asleep about an hour ago, or at least that was what I was telling myself, considering that I only tried for fifteen minutes before resorting to watching videos that I'd been meaning to catch up on, but either training, school, or missions had gotten in the way of. And so in the middle of the night, when I was meant to be sleeping, had become the best time to watch them. I groaned and looked down as my stomach also started to grumble.

"Fucking come on, really?" I whined quietly to myself, the hunger yet another thing that would keep me up if I didn't solve it. I bit my lip and looked at the time again. It was past midnight, and so I highly doubted that any of the rest of the team would be up, meaning that I could probably go into the kitchen and grab a snack without waking anyone else up. I didn't see what else there was to do. I sighed and grabbed my earphones before plugging them into my phone and putting the buds into my ears. I opened Spotify and clicked 'shuffle playlist' before climbing out of bed. Random music started to fill my ears, the sound blocking everything else out as I quietly slipped out of my room and padded along the corridor of the Tower. As suspected, the kitchen and living room were empty, the rooms cloaked in darkness as I walked in.

"FRIDAY, turn on the lights." I spoke, though my voice was barely audible to myself over the music as the lights flickered on. I headed into the kitchen and opened the cupboards, my stomach still growling and moaning as I tried to figure out what I wanted to eat.

"Ooh." I smiled to myself as my eyes landed on the box of pop tarts. I grabbed them and took one of the foiled packages out of the box before putting the box back and opening the packet. I nodded to myself and to the music as I took a bite, a sigh of relief leaving my lips at the heavenly taste of the snack. But that was when my peace was broken. I turned around, my eyes immediately widening as I walked straight into someone's chest.

"Jesus Christ!" I gasped as I tore my earphones out so that I could hear again and put a hand to my chest.

"Fuck, sorry, sorry, I didn't see the earphones." Peter chuckled, a small smile on the boy's lips and his hands outstretched to me as I took a step back. I puffed out, my eyes wide and my heart violently racing in my chest at the shock that he had given me as I stared at him.

"Peter, fuck you, you scared the shit out of me!" I exclaimed.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He shook his head as he clearly tried not to laugh. My eyes widened, my mouth falling open as I stared at him.

"No, you're not! You're trying not to laugh, asshole!" I hissed as I tried to stay mad, but my lips were threatening to also let a laugh slip at seeing my best friend and crush so happy.

"Okay, but can you blame me, you have to admit that me accidentally scaring the shit out of you because you had earphones in is kind of funny. You have to admit that, come on." He chuckled and shook his head. I returned it and bit my lip, my heart gradually slowing down as I looked at the absolute god of a boy. Peter and I had been best friends for four years now, since he'd been recruited by Tony as a scared fifteen-year-old kid with new-found powers. We'd clicked immediately, but as it always went, I felt feelings for him that were a lot deeper than just friendship. Which, I'd admit to myself but not to him, was partly why I had been so shocked at bumping into him. After all, no one wanted their crushes, of all people, to walk in on them whilst they were head-banging and letting the music block out the world.

"What are you doing up so late, anyway?" Peter chuckled, making me snap back to reality as the boy spoke. I held up the half-eaten pop tart encased in the silver packaging.

"Midnight snack, I was hungry." I shrugged.

"Funny, because that's why I came out too, and that's also coincidentally what I was going to eat." He chuckled, making my eyes widen as he reached his hand out and took the second pop tart from the packet before taking a bite.

"Hey! Get your own, jerk!" I laughed, making him smirk and wink at me as he took another bite.

"What were you listening to?" He chuckled as he glanced at my phone. I returned his chuckle quietly and looked down at the screen.

"Um...well, now, I'm listening to 'Always Forever', by Cults. It's a good song." I nodded as I looked back up at him.

"Can I listen?" He asked.

"Sure." I shrugged as falsely nonchalantly as I could fake, my mind still slightly flustered by this whole situation as I handed Peter the left earbud. He put it into his ear, me putting the other one into my right ear as the music played softly.

"Hmm. You're right, I like it." he smiled before extending his hand. My eyebrows furrowed at the gesture.

"I don't get it." I chuckled and shook my head, making Peter playfully roll his eyes at me.

"Dance with me, dumbass." He smiled. My eyes widened, my heart starting to race again at the idea of dancing with my crush as he gently took my hand into his outstretched one.

"N-no, Pete, I-I fight, I don't dance." I scoffed and shook my head, though the boy was ignoring me as he took my other hand too and pulled me into his body.

"Just follow my lead, and you'll be fine." He reassured me with a smile as he shook his head. I sighed and bit my lip, my eyes timidly looking up at him as he curled his arms around my waist, and I hooked my arms over his shoulders.

"There we go." He smiled, making me chuckle and playfully roll my eyes as he started to gently sway us to the music. He pulled me closer, making me smile and start to get into it as he gently swayed us from side to side. I sighed out and rested my head against his shoulder, a beautifully calm aura having taken over the room as he kissed my head and just moved us gently to the music that only we could hear.

"This is really nice." I sighed in bliss as my eyes started to flutter shut.

"It is. Why don't we do it more often?" He chuckled quietly.

"Because slow-dancing at midnight in the kitchen isn't something that best friends do." I returned the chuckle. Peter didn't reply, making my eyebrows furrow as I instead felt his heartbeat start to speed up.

"O-okay, you're right, but...what if we...weren't best friends? What if we were more?" He stuttered. My eyes widened, my heart leaping in my chest as I raised my head to look at him.

"Peter, what?" I gulped. He returned it, his beautiful chocolate orbs lacing with panic and anxiety as his gaze flicked over my face.

"I-I'm really sorry if I just completely fucking ruined this, but i-it felt like the right time to say something. Because I like you, Y/N-well, no, I don't, I love you-and not as a friend either, a-and just swaying you in my arms, it felt like the right time to say something-please tell me to shut the fuck up if you don't feel the same, because I realise that I'm just rambling now-a-and I'm terrified that I've just fucked up our friendship-." Before I knew what I was doing, I was taking Peter's face into my hands and pulling him down to smash our lips together. His eyes widened but he returned it, his hands tightening on my waist and pulling me even closer as we kissed. I smiled into it, making him return it and pull me closer again as he deepened it and slid his tongue into my mouth. I broke the kiss and touched our foreheads, my heart racing in my chest as my eyes fluttered open. Peter gulped and returned the glance, both of us staring into each other's eyes as we tried to comprehend the fact that we'd just kissed.

"We...we just kissed." I nodded, making Peter chuckle and return it as he bit his lip.

"Yeah, we did. And I loved it, and want to do it again. I also want to do...more...with you, but I feel like I should be asking you out on a date before we go to that." He smiled, making me laugh and shake my head at his teasing words.

"I'd love that, Pete. A date sounds perfect." I nodded.

"Yeah, it does." He smiled, making me return it and giggle as he leant down and kissed me again.
