Time lost (Peter Parker)

Requested by coffee_addict2005: Y/N and Peter have been dating for three years. They're twenty when Peter goes on a solo mission and gets captured for a year. He comes home to a surprise from Y/N

I stood in the bathroom, my bottom lip in between my teeth as I stared down at the pregnancy test. I sighed and nervously tapped my fingernails against the edge of the sink. Peter and I had met four years ago, when we both joined the Avengers as spotty-faced naive sixteen-year-olds. Our relationship had developed when on the night on my seventeenth birthday, the pair of us had gotten way too drunk and had accidentally hooked up. That being said, it was an accidental night that had led to us actually starting to date, so I didn't complain. So here we were, three years later, both well established Avengers in our own rights. But that may have been about to change. I looked at the test as the lines showed up. I choked, my stomach dropping as it came up positive.

"Shit." I choked, my legs giving way and forcing me to sit down on the cold tiled floor. I gulped, tears starting to leave my eyes as I held my head in my hands. What was Peter going to say to this? After all, we were only twenty, and we were still years away from discussing anything close to marriage and family. And yet here we were, with the decision being made for us. I gulped as I tried to regain my composure. I stood up and wiped my eyes, roughly shoving the pregnancy test into the bathroom draw before opening the en-suite door.

"Jesus!" I gasped as I opened the door to reveal Peter rushing around our bedroom, his Spiderman suit still loose around his body as he grabbed everything that he needed.

"Babe, you'll never guess what, Mr Stark just gave me my first solo mission!" he exclaimed, not looking at me as he clicked the web fluid into his suit before clicking on the spider so that the fabric tightened around his perfect body.

"P-Pete, that's awesome-."

"Isn't it? It's time-sensitive, though, so I need to leave now." he nodded. My eyes widened.

"Before you go, I need to talk to you." I gulped as I nervously fiddled with my fingers.

"I'm really sorry, angel, I don't have time-." he stopped as he looked at me. His eyebrows furrowed.

"Have you been crying? What's wrong?" he gulped as he walked to me and gently took my hands into his. I bit my lip, my heart in my throat as I stared into his eyes.

"I-it's nothing. It can wait until you get back from the mission." I lied. He looked at me.

"You sure, sweetheart? I can spare two minutes." he chuckled. I shook my head and gave him a forced smile.

"No you can't, it's fine. Go, be a hero." I smiled. He returned it and nodded before leaning down and kissing me. I returned it, tears rolling down my face as I held his cheeks.

"I love you." he nodded as he broke the kiss.

"I love you too." I gulped as he raced out of the room.

Peter's P.O.V

Peter fired webs at the men, trying his hardest to rid them of their weapons and fend them off. But the truth was that he was super outnumbered, and couldn't keep this up for much longer.

"Karen-fuck, call Mr Stark, tell him that I'm in trouble!" he exclaimed as he kicked one of the guards in the chest. Suddenly, someone behind him ripped his mask off, cutting him off from his only source of communication to the others through his mask.

"No!" he yelled as he reached out for it, but he was grabbed by several of the guards.

"Get off of me!" he spat, his wrists extending to try and web them up. Nothing came out though, making Peter groan internally as he was out of web fluid. He groaned as a hand was placed on the back of his neck and he was forced to his knees, his arms behind held out by two of the guards. He looked up, his jaw clenching as the guy who he'd been sent after strolled towards him with an arrogant smirk on his lips.

"Let me go. The others will find me, and then you'll have fucking hell to pay." he warned as he continued to struggle against the men, but they held him down harshly.

"How will they find you when you've not got this?" the man teased as he held up Peter's mask. Peter scowled at the man, only making his smirk widen.

"Lock him up. He's going to be here for a while." the man nodded. Peter's eyes widened and he yelled out as the men pulled him to his feet, their grips on his arms making it impossible to break free. They herded him along to an open door before pushing him into the cell harshly. He fell to the ground, a groan leaving his lips as he held his side.

"You won't get away with this!" he yelled out as the door slammed. He gulped, his heart starting to pound at the magnitude of the situation. He had just been captured. He was captured. Peter had been Spiderman for five years now, and he'd had some pretty close brushes with death, but never before had this happened. And he didn't know what to do. He gulped, his mind starting to fill with thoughts of Y/N. He had to get back to her. She was the love of his life, he didn't want to be without her. Not to mention that he had to find out what she'd been crying about before he left. He sighed, the fatigue and injury taking over his body as he rested his head against the icy concrete floor and let his eyes flutter shut.

Y/N's P.O.V

I walked into the control room, my eyebrows furrowing as I could sense that something was wrong. The whole team were yelling and talking at each other, all of them stood in front of a screen as Bruce rapidly typed away at the keyboards.

"What's going on?" I asked, making all of them look at me. Their eyes widened.

"Y/N..." Tony gulped. I returned it, a sick feeling starting to reside in my stomach as my eyes flicked to the screen. Peter's face was on it and alarms were flashing around it, my eyes being drawn to the two words that were fatal in this business:

Signal lost

"No." I choked and shook my head.

"We're trying to get it back, Y/N, it might be a technical difficulty, we don't know what this means yet-."

"You're Tony fucking Stark, your stuff doesn't have technical difficulties, something is wrong." I choked.

"Bruce is working now to get the signal back, it'll be okay-."

"Of course it won't be. Peter is missing in action as of now, he could be dead, and I never even got to tell him that I'm pregnant!" I cried. Everyone's eyes widened at me.

"You're what?" Natasha gulped. I choked and looked down, gripping the back of a chair for support.

"Woah, okay, sit down. This won't be healthy for the baby, let's calm down." she nodded as she gently guided me to sit down. I shook my head, burying my face in my hands.

"When did you find out, Y/N?" Steve asked softly as him and Natasha sat on either side of me.

"This morning. I was going to tell him before he went, but I said that it could wait. I should have fucking told him." I cried. Steve and Natasha looked at each other, sighs leaving their lips as Natasha gently pulled me into her arms.

"It's going to be okay. 'Signal lost' is what we want, Y/N, that suggests that he's still alive. 'Signal lost' most likely means that his mask is off. Which, granted, still isn't good, but it's better than him being dead. We won't stop until we find him, I promise." Tony reassured as he crouched down in front of me. I choked and nodded, my heart in my stomach at the magnitude of what was happening.

~One year later~

Peter's P.O.V

Peter's eyes fluttered open. Small groans left his lips like they did every morning, especially after a night of more intense torture. He tried to sit up but pain shot through his core, making him cry out and lie back down. He looked down and breathed out shakily as he saw the whip and knife marks on his stomach, chest and abdomen, and he knew that there were more on his back. Peter had lost track of how long he'd been imprisoned after a week here, and he knew that that'd been at least a few months ago. The only thing that had kept him going for this long was the thought that he'd get to see Y/N again. He fell asleep every night with the image of her face at the forefront of his mind, as he was well aware that that was the only thing keeping him sane. But recently, even that glimmer of hope had started to fade. Peter's eyes opened again as he started to hear screams and banging. His eyebrows furrowed, and his head slowly turned to look at the door. His body was far too weak to even sit up, so a head turn was the best that he could do.

"Peter?!" his eyes widened.

"No." he whispered as his mind desperately tried to work out if he'd actually just heard Steve's voice calling his name, or if it was just his mind playing cruel tricks on him.

"Peter!" he choked, a tear leaving his eye. That wasn't his mind. That was Steve.

"Hey! I'm here! Hurry!" he yelled as loud as he could, his voice hoarse and his throat raw from being denied water for so long.

"Peter, we're here, we got you!" Steve's muffled voice sounded from the other side of the door. Suddenly, the door was flung open and Steve rushed in.

"Steve, oh my god." Peter choked, tears starting to stream down his face as the man rushed into the cell.

"You okay? You look pretty beaten up." he nodded as he gently put an arm around Peter's back and helped him sit up, making Peter squeeze his eyes shut in a wince.

"You should have seen the other guy." he teased. Steve smirked and nodded as he gently helped the boy to his feet.

"Don't worry, we'll get you back to the Tower. Wait until you see what's changed." Steve nodded as he helped Peter limp out of the cell. Peter looked at him.

"Y/N? Is she okay? I've been gone for so long." he choked.

"Oh, she's amazing. A lot has happened in a year. But I promise that you'll love it." he reassured. Peter gulped and nodded as he continued to limp along the corridor with Steve.

Y/N's P.O.V

"If this is another false alarm, I will kill someone." I gulped and shook my head as I rushed into the control room.

"It's not a false alarm. Steve is landing with him now. It's finally time for them to meet." Tony smiled. I choked, my heart starting to pound as I turned and started running. I sprinted through the Tower, my heart in my stomach as I rushed to the plane pad. I got there, my eyes widening as Steve helped a very injured, but still alive, Peter into the building. I ran towards them, making Peter look up at me. His eyes widened.

"Y/N, baby." he choked. I returned it as I tightly wrapped my arms around him in a hug, him returning it instantly.

"I thought that you were dead." I cried into his shoulder.

"You're the only thing that kept me going, angel. The only thing." he shook his head, his hand stroking my hair. I nodded and pulled away to look at him.

"I, um...I actually have a surprise for you." I gulped.

"Yeah, Steve mentioned that things had changed. But he promised that I'd love the change." he nodded. I returned it and bit my lip as I took his hand.

"You will, Pete. You really will." I smiled, making him return it as I started to pull him through the Tower.

Peter and I walked hand in hand to our room. I turned to face him as I got to the door.

"Is the surprise in there?" he asked.

"Yeah, but first, I should probably provide some context." I nodded. He returned it and looked at me as I gripped his hand.

"You remember the morning that you were captured, I had to tell you something and I was upset, but I told you that it could wait." I stated.

"I remember." he spoke. I sighed and bit my lip.

"Well, I thought that I'd have to wait a few hours, not a year...the news was that I was pregnant, Pete." I admitted. His eyes widened.

"You were pregnant? But that was a year ago...that means that either you didn't have the baby or..." he choked, a tear leaving his eye as he looked at the door behind us. I smiled and bit my lip as I opened the door. Peter walked straight in, his eyes wavering as he saw the crib by the bed. And then the baby girl sitting in the crib, quietly cooing to herself.

"Oh my god...babe, she's beautiful." he choked as he started to lean down. He smiled at her as he gently picked her up, making her look at him.

"Hey, baby girl. I'm your daddy. Oh my god, I love you so much already. Look at you." he smiled and shook his head, making her squeal and smile at him. He looked at me.

"What did you call her?" he asked.

"Mary, after your mom. I didn't know if you were coming back, so I figured that if you didn't come back, that was a good enough link for her to have with her dad. She's coming up to five months old now. Turns out that I was already quite far along by the time that I found out." I nodded. He returned it and looked at her.

"I just...thank you for keeping her, angel. I know that you didn't know if you were now a single person and if you'd be a single mom. So, it means the world to me that you kept her." he choked and shook his head. I nodded and gave him a small smile as I rested my head on his shoulder and gently held Mary's fist.

"You say that I got you through being captured. Well, she got me through not knowing if you were going to come back. I hope that she's a nice surprise." I chuckled slightly.

"Angel, she's the best surprise." Peter nodded. I returned it and smiled, gently kissing Peter's shoulder before going back to just looking in awe at our daughter.
