The thief *part 1* (Mob boss!AU, Tom Holland)
I sat in my car, nervously tapping my heeled foot against the carpeted floor as I waited. For what exactly, I wasn't sure. I guess the courage to finally get out of the car and go back into my old friend's club for the first time in five years. Why was I so nervous? Maybe because the old friend was London's most notorious mob boss, Tom Holland, and because I was about to steal one hundred thousand pounds worth of diamonds from him. Yeah. That was probably why. I took a deep breath, checking my hair and makeup in the rear mirror once more before grabbing my bag and opening the car door. I winced as immediately, the cold air hit my bare legs, the dress that I was wearing only being long enough to cover halfway down my thighs. I gulped, trying to swallow my nerves as I locked the car before walking to the club. This wasn't my first heist, not by a long shot, but it was the first time stealing from someone as big as Tom, let alone someone who I called an old friend. He wouldn't be happy if he ever found out that it was me who stole his precious diamonds. I walked up to the doors, the bouncer looking at me as I didn't bother joining the queue for the club.
"Y/N Y/L/N, I'll be on the list." I nodded. The bouncer scanned his eyes over the clipboard in his hands before looking at me and nodding. I returned it and walked into the club, times like these making me grateful for the history that Tom and I had. More specifically, the history of us once being friends with benefits. I walked into the club and looked around as I realised how much I'd missed this place. I hadn't been back since Tom had gotten a girlfriend and had therefore broken off our deal five years ago, something that had hurt me given that I had fallen for the boy, but I didn't let that show. Unsurprisingly, the relationship had only lasted a little over a month, given that Tom wasn't the type for commitment. Though, I was surprised that he had never invited me back into his bed, even after the end of each relationship that he'd had in the five years. I walked up to the bar, leaning against the bar as I scoured my eyes over the club. As usual, it was full to capacity, which would make it easier for me to slip in and out of Tom's office undetected. At least I hoped so.
"Never thought I'd see your face again, angel." I looked to the side and a smile spread across my lips as Tom walked towards me, a smirk on his face.
"Tommy, how wonderful to see you." I smiled as I leant up and pecked his lips, the boy returning the kiss as his hands found my waist.
"And you, darling. What brings you here? Has a client sent you here after a target?" he asked, waving the barman over to us.
"No. I don't do that stuff anymore." I lied, adding a shrug to the mix. Tom wasn't a stupid man, and so I knew that if I told him why I was here, he'd put two and two together and figure out that he was in fact my target. Tom looked at me.
"Don't tell me that you're here for pleasure, babe. That's hardly your style." He scoffed as his thumb gently rubbed against my waist through my dress.
"Is that your non-asshole way of saying that I'm not fun?" I teased, making Tom laugh as he stood up and moved closer to me.
"Of course not, angel. You showed me plenty of times how fun you are." He mumbled into my ear, making me smirk as he gently nipped my earlobe before pulling away and looking at the barman.
"Whatever she orders is on the house." He nodded.
"No problem, Mr Holland." The man returned. Tom looked at me.
"Drink whatever you want, sweetheart. On the condition that you come find me later on and dance with me before you go, yeah?" he asked.
"Of course, Tommy. It'll be just like old times." I smiled. He returned it and nodded, leaning down and pecking my lips once more before disappearing back into the crowd. My smile slowly dipped, and I sighed as the reality set back in. I was about to betray someone who was once my best friend, and someone that I was still in love with. But business was business.
"Can I have a double shot of vodka, please?" I asked the barman, making him nod as he started to prepare it. If I was going to carry out the job and not get caught, I needed some Dutch courage in my system. I gave the barman a nod of thanks as he placed two shot glasses in front of me. I picked the first one up and knocked it back, wincing as the bitter liquid stung my throat. I picked the other one up, drinking that too before standing up and heading to the back of the club, where's Tom's office was.
I slipped out of Tom's office, shutting the door behind me as I did. I gulped, trying to not look suspicious as I slipped the small bag of diamonds that I'd been hired to steal into my dress and under the bit of fabric that held my bra cups together. Hopefully, that was intimate enough to get the diamonds out of the club. I started to push through the crowds, keeping my head down as I tried not to be noticed. I looked up, gulping as my gaze fell on Tom's private booth, where he was sat with his brothers and Harrison. I sighed, biting my lip as he laughed with the boys. I had missed that laugh. But now was not the time for reminiscing. I carried on walking, going seemingly unnoticed by Tom as I slipped out of the club. I took a sigh of relief as I left, knowing that I had pulled the job off. I smirked to myself, mentally congratulating myself on another bit of business done, and another wad of cash landing in my bank account.
"You've still got it." I smirked and bit my lip as I turned into the alleyway. But as soon as I turned the corner, my smirk immediately dropped, my eyes widening as Tom stood at the end of the alleyway, his back turned to me.
"Don't bother running, darling." He chuckled, shaking his head. I gulped, figuring that I'd try my luck anyway as I turned around, ready to run. My plan failed as I immediately ran into Harrison's chest, making me groan as he grabbed me by my arms and restrained me. I fought against his grip, but it was useless as he turned me around and forced my hands behind my back before walking me forwards. Tom turned around, a smirk adorning his gorgeous features as he looked at me.
"You're alright, Haz, let her go. I'm sure that she's smart enough to know that she'll end up with a bullet in her chest if she tries to run." The boy nodded, though staring at me the entire time as he put his hands into his trouser pockets. I gulped as Harrison let me go, pushing me forward so that I stumbled to be just in front of Tom. I clenched my jaw, the mob boss simply smirking at me as he looked up and down my dress-clad body.
"Where are they?" he asked simply.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Tom." I shook my head and shrugged. He raised an eyebrow.
"So, if I were to reach my hand into your dress and into the space between your bra cups, I wouldn't find a little bag of diamonds that belong to me?" he asked.
"No, you wouldn't. But feel free to try." I teased. Tom smirked and raised his eyebrows.
"May I?" he asked, raising his hands. I nodded, trying to keep an emotionless face as Tom's hand slowly reached into the top of my dress. I gulped, trying to keep my breathing even as his fingers gently glided across my skin, Tom maintaining eye contact the entire time. I sighed internally, mentally cursing myself for hiding the diamonds in such an obvious spot as Tom's fingers made contact with the small plastic bag. His eyebrows raised.
"Oh, dear me, angel." He shook his head and tutted as he pulled his hand back out and held it up, the plastic bag between his two fingers. I sighed and looked down, trying to figure out how to get out of this.
"Who hired you?" he asked. I looked at him.
"How do you know that I didn't just do it for fun? Or that I didn't just want to see you again, Tommy?" I teased. He smirked and shook his head, his eyes flicking to my lips before looking back into my eyes.
"You always seem to forget that I know you like the back of my hand, babe. I know that you only ever steal for business, never for pleasure, and I know that you only ever steal from friends for a hefty reward, so I can only imagine what you were offered to make you steal from me." He nodded, staring straight into my eyes with his unfaltering gaze. I gulped and returned the gaze.
"I also know that you know what I do to those who betray me. So, again, the price must have been amazing for you to risk being caught. It's just a shame that you won't live to see the money that you risked everything for." He cooed, making me clench my jaw as he gently hooked his finger underneath my chin and forced me to look up at him.
"Come on, Tommy. It's me." I scoffed as I tried to flirt my way out of being killed.
"Ah, but what kind of message would it send if I let you live just because we used to sleep together? Every John, Bob and Harry would try to seduce their way out of punishment. Sorry, darling, but I can't have that." He shook his head. I gulped, tears starting to prick my eyes as the reality sunk in. Sure, I'd had a lot of close calls over the years, but the one person that I never thought I'd die at the hands of was Tom. Suddenly, he leant down and gently pressed our lips together, making me return it as my eyes fluttered shut. I had missed moments like this with Tom, but I had to bring myself back as I remembered that he was only really kissing me because he was about to have me killed. As if on cue, he broke the kiss, making me open my eyes and look into his hazel ones.
"It was a pleasure knowing you, darling." He nodded, gently pecking my lips once more before letting me go and walking past me. I gulped as I turned around and followed him with my gaze.
"Haz, you know what to do." Tom spoke, making the blond boy nod and walk towards me as Tom started to walk out of the alleyway. My eyes widened as Harrison immediately grabbed me, making me wince as he pulled my back into his chest and placed the blade of his knife into my neck as his arms around my waist held me against him.
"Wait." I gulped, making Tom stop in his tracks. He looked over his shoulder at me.
"What if I could offer you something? In return for my life?" I asked as I fidgeted slightly in Harrison's arms, though trying to be careful with the blade seconds away from ending my life. Tom's eyebrows furrowed, his interest clearly peaked as he turned around fully and walked back towards me.
"What could you possibly give me that I would want in order to spare your life? Because I already took my diamonds back, so what else would I want from you?" he scoffed and shook his head. I gulped, really hoping that my instincts about the feelings that Tom had had for me over the years had been correct.
"Me." I stated. Tom's eyebrows raised and he smirked as he looked at me.
"My, my, all of the times that we hooked up went straight to your head, didn't they, angel?" he chuckled.
"Look, Tommy, if I'm right, and let's be honest, I always am, you've always had a thing for me. You got through it and covered it up by asking me to be friends with benefits, because that gave you the satisfaction of being with me, just without the emotional strings that came with a relationship. But I know that you always wanted something more. Now's your chance." I nodded, still struggling slightly with the knife against my throat. Tom's smirk dipped slightly.
"Are you only offering this because I'm about to have you killed?" he scoffed and shook his head. I looked at him, something in his eyes telling me that he was hurt by the idea. That was a side of Tom that I'd never seen before.
"No, I'm not. Let's just say that those feelings weren't one way." I admitted. Tom sighed, his eyes scanning my face telling me that he was considering it.
"I'll spare your life and take you with me on one condition. And that's that you tell me who hired you to steal the diamonds, and why they wanted them." Tom nodded. I returned it, gulping against the knife as I did.
"You have yourself a deal, Tommy." I spoke. He looked at me, a slight smirk adorning his lips once again as he looked at Harrison and nodded. Before I knew what was happening, Harrison moved the knife from my neck but drove the handle of it into my head, knocking me unconscious as I went limp in his arms.
