The spy *part 2* (Peter Parker)
Peter swung his fist out at me, my body leaning to the side to dodge it with ease. I grabbed his arm and held onto it as I spun into his body. As soon as my back was against his chest, I drove my elbow into his rib cage, making him groan and clutch his side as he stumbled back.
"Nice move, Y/N." he nodded, making me smile as I raised my leg and kicked out. He caught my foot and pushed, making it my turn to stumble back. I had been in the Avengers for a few months now, and it was getting harder and harder to accept that I was here to destroy them, not to actually be a part of them. Tony, Steve, Natasha, Clint and Bruce had become like the family that I had been robbed of, with Tony and Steve protecting me, Bruce treating me whenever I got hurt, and Natasha giving me the girly gossip sessions that I'd missed out on. And Peter, well. I was falling for him. I may have been raised to not feel emotion, but I was sure that this was love. Whenever he walked into a room, my heart leapt, butterflies occupying my stomach every time that he so much as smiled. There had even been a few occasions where we'd fallen asleep on the couch after watching a movie, and I'd woken up to his head on my chest and his arm wrapped protectively around my waist. It hurt to know that I'd have to betray him eventually. I snapped back as Peter grabbed my arm and pulled me into his body, making me yelp out in surprise. He turned me around so that my back went into his chest and hooked one arm around my waist and held my neck with his other hand, trapping me against him.
"Could have warned me, Pete." I groaned, though I secretly enjoyed being so close to the boy.
"Don't get distracted, then." he chuckled. I rolled my eyes playfully as he let me go. As I walked away from him, I kicked my leg back. He groaned and flew back as my foot kicked into his chest, making him fall onto the mats.
"Okay, I deserved that." he nodded and coughed, making me smile at him as I reached a hand out to him.
"You summoned us?" Peter asked as the two of us walked into the controls room of the Tower.
"We're planning the next attack on HYDRA, and we need you to know what's happening." Tony nodded, all of them standing around his electronic table. My eyes wavered. This was definitely information that HYDRA would force out of me the next time that they caught me off guard when I was out and about.
"What are we doing?" Peter asked as he crossed his strong arms over his chest.
"This time next week, we're hitting HYDRA. Our sources tell us that they're losing soldiers more by the day, so we estimate that this time next week is the perfect time to hit them." Steve nodded.
"The plan is to go in all guns blazing. We don't warn them, we don't give their allies time to help them figure this out. And so, these plans stay in this room. Am I clear?" Tony asked.
"Crystal." Peter nodded. I gulped.
"Y/N, you okay? You haven't said much." Natasha spoke, making me look up.
"I-I'm fine, just hungry after training." I lied.
"Get yourselves some food. Dismissed." he spoke. We all nodded before starting to leave the room. Peter looked at me as we walked.
"You want to go out to eat? I know a place in Queens, best sandwiches you'll ever taste." he smiled, making me return it and look at him as he gently nudged my shoulder.
"Sure. Sounds good." I nodded. He returned it as we headed towards the entrance of the Tower.
Peter and I walked along the buzzing street, on our way to this sandwich place that he was taking me to.
"So, Y/N, what's your story?" he asked as he looked down at me. I returned the glance with furrowed eyebrows.
"What do you mean?" I chuckled.
"We all have our stories. Natasha was raised by Russian assassins, Steve was turned into a human Popsicle, Tony got blown up, I got bitten by a radioactive spider. What's your story?" he asked. My smile dipped and I gulped as I looked down. I absolutely hated lying to Peter, especially since I was falling in love with him, but HYDRA would kill us all if I told him the truth.
"I, um, was born with it. It freaked my parents out, so they left me on the steps of an orphanage." I nodded. I had tried to stick to the truth as much as possible, I had been abandoned because of my powers. The only bit that I left out was the part where HYDRA had adopted me from the orphanage when I was five.
"Jesus, Y/N. I'm so sorry, that's so fucked up." he sighed and shook his head.
"It wasn't too bad. It wasn't like in the movies, where you had to work for your food and stuff." I chuckled. Now I was lying, I was never even allowed water at HYDRA without working for it.
"Well, I'm glad that it wasn't like that. No one deserves to be treated like that." he shook his head, making me return it. I sighed and looked up at him, him completely oblivious to my stare. The sun was reflecting on his face, making him look even more angelic than he usually did. Shit. How the fuck was I going to do this?
"Ah, here we are." Peter smiled proudly, making me look up and read the letters that spelt "Delmar's".
"It looks nice." I smiled, Peter returning it as I looked around. Suddenly, my gaze turned to an alleyway across the street. My smile immediately dropped, my heart plummeting as I saw Bucky stood there. His jaw was clenched and his face was covered by the hood of his jacket, his hands also shoved into the pockets. This wasn't good.
"U-um, get me one of whatever you usually have, I'll be there in a minute." I nodded as I looked back at Peter.
"You okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm okay, just give me a second." I smiled. He returned it hesitantly and nodded, making it obvious that he didn't buy my story. I didn't blame him, though. He headed into the shop regardless, making me gulp as I rushed across the street. Bucky headed further into the alleyway as I got there, making my heart start to pound.
"What are you doing here, Bucky?" I asked. He turned to face me.
"We haven't heard from you in a while. So, I was sent to make sure that everything is okay, and to get any new info that you've collected." he nodded.
"Why wouldn't everything be okay?" I scoffed in an attempt to plead ignorance. Bucky returned it and looked past me, making me gulp as I just knew that he was looking at the shop that Peter was in.
"You tell me, Y/N. Because you and the boy seem to be getting pretty close." he nodded.
"He thinks that we're close. I'm making him trust me so that it'll be easier to kill him when the time comes." I lied. He nodded again as he strolled towards me, making me gulp as I took a step back.
"Good. Because you know what would happen if we found out that you couldn't complete the mission, or that you were falling for Spiderman." he stated.
"Well I don't have to worry because that's not what's happening." I shook my head.
"Alright, then. What new Intel do you have for us?" he asked. I gulped.
"Nothing." I lied as I tried to not let my eyes waver. Bucky looked at me and squinted his eyes.
"Don't fucking lie to me, Y/N." he scoffed.
"I'm not. HYDRA has been so inactive recently that the Avengers aren't really planning anything." I continued to lie. Bucky clenched his jaw before lunging at me. I gasped, my eyes widening as he raised his metal arm and put it to my throat, cutting off my air supply as he pinned me to the wall.
"Bucky, I can't breathe!" I gasped.
"Air is a privilege. You get to breathe when you tell me the truth." he spat in my face.
"I am telling you the truth! They don't have anything planned!" I yelled, tears running down my face. I wanted to protect them and Peter, I really did, but I knew from the burning in my lungs that Bucky would get it out of me.
"One last chance, Y/N. If you lie to me one more time, I crush your throat and leave your body here for Parker to find." he snapped. I choked, tears running down my face.
"They're attacking next week. Someone has been telling them that HYDRA soldiers are dropping like flies, so they're giving it another week for more soldiers to die and then attacking." I admitted. Bucky nodded before dropping me. I fell to the floor, coughing and gagging as I filled my lungs with air.
"Now that wasn't so hard, was it? If you tell them anything about this, I kill you and Peter. Got it?" he spat.
"Yes, I understand." I choked. He nodded and clenched his jaw at me again before leaving the alleyway. I gulped, cupping my neck as I slowly stood up. I would definitely have to wear concealer for the next week because I didn't feel like explaining how I got a bruise around my neck. I left the alleyway and stumbled back across the road, just as Peter emerged from the sandwich shop.
"So I got you my usual order, which is cheese and crushed pickles, I know that it sounds kind of gross, but I promise that you'll love it-." he stopped talking as he looked at me.
"You okay, Y/N?" he gulped. I looked at him.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine." I lied before hugging him tightly.
"Oh." he spoke, clearly surprised by the sudden act of affection, but he returned it as he wrapped his arms around me and pressed his lips to the top of my head. I sighed and closed my eyes as I just let myself be held by him. This was getting harder by the day, and I wasn't sure how much longer I could keep it up.
