The insider *part 3* (Mob boss!AU, Tom Holland)

I sat at my makeup table, absentmindedly looking out over Tom's gardens as I just stared out of the window. I had been "undercover" in his mob for a few months now, and things kept getting worse and harder to pull off in terms of feeding fake Intel to my boss. After I had given her the fake Intel about the drug shipment, four months ago now, I had gone back to warn Tom about the fact that she hadn't fully believed me. He had come up with a plan and had sorted out the problem without exposing himself or risking losing his drugs to the authorities. But then, something bad had happened. I gulped and bit my lip, that day still replaying in my head.

I sat in the mansion's main living room, reading a book in a weak attempt to distract myself as I waited for everyone to get back from the docks. Suddenly, I heard the front doors fly open.

"Get him upstairs now!" My eyes widened as I heard Harrison yelling. I shot up and out of the room. My eyes widened further as I saw Sam and Harry pulling an injured Tom up the stairs, his arms around their shoulders and his head lolling slightly as they helped him up.

"What the fuck happened?!" I exclaimed, making all of the guys look at me.

"Tom got shot." Harrison nodded. I choked, my eyes wavering as I looked at the boy who was being hauled up the stairs by his brothers. This wasn't good. Harrison and I followed them up and into Tom's bedroom, him groaning and squeezing his eyes shut as the twins put him onto the bed.

"Grab some bandages and towels, we need to stop the bleeding." I gulped, making the boys nod as they rushed into the en-suite. I grabbed Tom's jacket and pulled it off of his shoulders, making him look at me as I also started to unbutton his dress shirt that was now holey and covered in blood.

"You're choosing now to get frisky, huh, babe?" he smirked weakly. I rolled my eyes as I pulled his shirt off.

"Now is not the time for your flirting. In case you haven't noticed, you're bleeding out." I scoffed, giving the twins a nod of thanks as they put the stuff down on the bed.

"What even happened?" I gulped as I started to press one of the towels against the wound in Tom's waist, making him groan and squeeze his eyes shut as he tightly gripped the sheets.

"We went to the docks to pretend to collect the cargo that you told your boss about. Except for that MI5 weren't there. The fucking Richardson mob were." he stated. My eyes widened. Being an agent of MI5, I didn't just know about Tom's mob. I also knew about the Richardson mob. And I knew that their leader, Dale Richardson, was just short of being as dangerous as Tom was. Meaning that this wasn't good.

"How the fuck did they know to be there?" I scoffed.

"I assume that you've got Intel on them too?" Harrison asked. I nodded and looked between him and Tom.

"They're worse than you guys probably realise. We're investigating them in relation to the murders of twenty high-ranking agents. For reference, we're only investigating you guys for five." I nodded.

"How did they know to be there? Who did you tell when you got back?" Tom asked, his teeth gritted in pain and his hands still in fists around the bed sheets as I continued to clean up the wound.

"I told my boss." I nodded. Tom's eyes widened slightly and he looked at Harrison.

"You mean, the woman right above you? You didn't try to go any higher?" he gulped. I looked at him, my eyebrows furrowing as I tried to work out why he looked so panicked.

"Who else was I going to tell, Tom? She's who I report to. Why does it matter?" I scoffed. He bit his lip, his eyes still filled with panic as they flicked to look at Harrison.

"It doesn't. Let's just focus on stopping me from dying." he chuckled slightly, making me give him a small smile as I continued to tend to his wound.

Something about Tom had been so off that day, but in the four months since then, I still hadn't been able to figure out what that was. Not that it mattered now. I sighed and stood up before zipping up my suitcase that was on my bed. After all, I had to report back to MI5 again today. I grabbed my suitcase and put it on the floor before wheeling it along the corridor towards Tom's office. I gently knocked my fist against the door.

"Come in." Tom's muffled voice sounded. I opened the door, leaving my suitcase outside of the room as I walked in. Tom and Harrison looked up at me as I shut the door.

"Ah. Just who I wanted to see." Tom smirked. My eyebrows furrowed as I walked around the desk to stand next to him.

"What did you need to see me for?" I chuckled, a squeal leaving my lips as he took my waist and sat me down on his lap.

"I didn't need to see you, I just wanted to see my sexy-as-fuck girlfriend." he smirked as he looked up at my lips.

"Didn't realise that we'd labelled it." I teased, my fingers gently playing with the hair at the nape of his neck.

"Well, we have dinners together, we find each other attractive, we like each other, we have sex." he shrugged.

"I didn't need to know that last bit." Harrison grimaced, making Tom and I chuckle.

"I'm also still a cop who is technically still meant to be working to bring you down." I reminded.

"You're not actually doing that anymore, though. Anyway, speaking of bringing me down, you're going back today." he stated.

"I'm aware." I sighed as I stood from his lap and we headed to the door of the office.

"Don't be sad, darling. It's only for two days." he reassured, making me look up at him as he gently took my hands. I bit my lip. In all honesty, the case had been completely forgotten about by now. It turned out that I couldn't seduce my way into the mob without actually falling in love with Tom after all, and so at this point, I was more the mob boss' girlfriend than the MI5 agent sent to take him down. Not that I minded. Living the exciting and love-filled life that I'd started to develop with Tom definitely beat the monotonous nine-to-five desk job that I'd had before.

"Be safe, okay?" he mumbled, his eyes on my lips as he gently squeezed my hands.

"I always am." I reassured. Tom sighed and gave me a small smile before leaning down and kissing me. I returned it and smiled into it, his hands moving to my waist as I held his neck. That was the best thing about this, I knew that Tom felt the same way about me as I did for him. He'd check on me regularly to make sure that I was okay and he'd keep me out of mob business as much as possible for the sake of my safety. Every action of his towards me just screamed that he loved me. I broke the kiss and smiled at him, him pecking my lips once more before I opened the door and headed out.

Tom's P.O.V

"Be safe, okay?" Tom mumbled, his eyes on Y/N's beautiful lips as he gently squeezed her hands that seemed to have been made to fit perfectly into his.

"I always am." she reassured. Tom sighed and gave her a small smile before leaning down and kissing her. She returned it and smiled into it, his hands moving to her waist as she held his neck. In all honesty, Tom wasn't sure how he'd ended up here. It had started simply enough, when Y/N had come onto the radar for him as a potential threat and so he had started surveillance on her. But somehow, over the year and a half that he'd had her watched and followed, he had fallen for the girl. He had watched her visit people in hospital so that they wouldn't be alone, he'd watched her give a sandwich that she'd only just bought to a homeless person. He'd utterly fallen in love with her, which sucked considering that she was still a cop. Tom had to figure out a way to change that without making her feel like she had to give up her whole life. Though she had been vocal about the fact that she preferred life with him, so maybe it wouldn't be hard. Maybe he'd propose as a final way to show his love to her. That was for another time, though. Y/N broke the kiss and smiled at him, him pecking her lips once more before she opened the door and headed out. Tom sighed, his hands slipping into his trouser pockets as he watched her grab her suitcase and wheel it down the corridor before heading back into his office. He gulped and grabbed the cigarette carton off of his desk, all too aware of the fact that Harrison was watching him.

"Are you going to tell her?" the boy asked, finally breaking his silence. Tom sighed, his mind and heart racing as he took a cigarette out of the packet and chucked the carton back onto the desk.

"I don't know. Part of me thinks that not telling her means that she's safer." he mumbled as he lit the cigarette.

"And the other part of you is saying that she's safer knowing what she walks into." Harrison stated.

"Exactly." Tom nodded, taking a drag of the cigarette and blowing out the smoke as he leant against the desk.

"I think that you have to tell her eventually. Fuck knows when they'll use her to make a move." Harrison scoffed.

"I know. But again, part of me is screaming that the only way to keep her out of this is to not tell her. Y/N doesn't know who she is, which means she won't dig into it or anything. Fuck me, Haz, I don't know." he groaned as he buried his face into his hands.

"See what happens on this visit and see what other Intel we find. It'll be okay, yeah?" he reassured. Tom sighed and shook his head.

"I'm not so sure, Haz. I'm not so sure."

Y/N's P.O.V

I headed into the office, all lights off apart from my boss' due to the late time that I'd arrived back in town. I gently knocked my fist on the door, making her look up at me.

"Ah, Y/N. Good to see you back again." she nodded as she stood from her desk.

"Good to be back. I have more Intel on Holland and where his next shipment will be." I spoke, keeping to myself the fact that I knew MI5 hadn't intercepted the last one. Though I never figured out why. She looked down.

"Y/N, I'm sorry, but we're pulling you from the mission." she admitted. My eyes widened.

"What? I'm only five months in, I don't have enough yet to arrest Holland." I gulped.

"You're too naive for this business." she chuckled and shook her head as she looked back up at me. My eyebrows furrowed, a pit starting to form in my stomach. This felt bad.

"I'm too naive for what business?" I gulped.

"The case about Holland was bullshit. Sure, the MI5 wants him, but they're all too aware that he's far too powerful to ever bring down. Your real case was to become Tom's love, so that we'd have something easy to use against him." she spoke. My heart started to pound, my mouth completely dry as I started to feel sicker and sicker. I still wasn't completely sure what was going on, but I could have a few guesses, and none of them were good. I turned around to run, a shout leaving my lips as I ran straight into Dale Richardson's arms.

"Not so fast, you little bitch." he smirked, making my eyes widen as he forced the cloth against my mouth. My eyes widened further and I screamed as loudly as I could, my screams not making it past the cloth as I breathed in the chloroform. I continued to scream, my pleas getting quieter as my body started to give in. My legs gave way, the foul man letting me fall to the floor and not bothering to catch me.

"Don't do this." I gulped as him and my boss stood over me.

"I'm sorry, Y/N. It's already done." she shook her head. I choked, a tear leaving my eye and thoughts of Tom filling my brain as my eyes fluttered shut and my body went limp.
