The adopted daughter (Peter Parker)
Requested by coffee_addict2005: Steve and Natasha are a couple, and Y/N is their adopted daughter. She goes to midtown but no one knows who she is. She starts dating Peter, but he doesn't know who she is and she doesn't know that he's Spiderman and is one of the Avengers. One day, she brings him home to meet her parents.
"Mom! Where are my shoes?!" I yelled, rummaging through my room frantically as I tried to find my sneakers.
"Your purple ones?! Are they not in your room?!" she shouted back from downstairs.
"No! That's why I'm asking you where they are!" I returned.
"Are you two incapable of having a conversation that doesn't involve shouting from two different rooms?" my dad sighed from the stairs.
"Dad, butt out, I can't find my shoes!" I groaned loudly.
"Oh, I know, I heard!" he responded, making me chuckle and shake my head.
"Oh, they're in the living room!" mom yelled.
"Thank you!" I shouted before quickly grabbing my bag and rushing down the stairs. I headed into the living room and grabbed my shoes. I untied the laces as I walked into the kitchen and smiled at my parents. Who happened to be Steve and Natasha Rogers. Yes, I was the daughter of two of the biggest Avengers. Well, adopted daughter. My parents had worked for Tony Stark when I was a baby, meaning that I lived on the compound. When I was around one, a massive explosion on the compound killed my parents and rendered me an orphan. But I was lucky in the fact that when my biological parents had died, my adoptive parents were thinking about having a baby, but couldn't biologically due to my mom's "graduation" ceremony. And so instead, they adopted me. When I was four, they'd moved us to a quiet suburb in Queens in an attempt to give me as normal of a life as I could have given our situation. And so I'd been virtually born and bred in Queens and currently went to Midtown High-school with my best friends, MJ, Ned, and Peter. But Peter was different. I'd crushed on the boy since I'd met him two years ago, his hazel curls and innocent chocolate eyes making me fall for him. It just sucked that he only saw me as a friend.
"Earth to Y/N." I snapped back as I heard my dad's voice, making my parents chuckle at me as I stood at the doorway to the kitchen.
"You going to eat breakfast with us, or are you going to continue staring into space?" my dad teased, making me roll my eyes as I walked in.
"I don't have time to eat with you, I'm late for school." I sighed as I sat down and pulled my purple sneakers on.
"What? You've got half an hour to get there, you can spare five minutes to eat with your parents." mom scoffed.
"I may have half an hour to get there, but I'm meeting Peter at his favourite sandwich place in fifteen, so I need to go." I nodded. Mom and dad exchanged looks with raised eyebrows and pursed lips, making me groan.
"Not this again." I sighed.
"We're just saying, honey, you talk about him a lot. I remember when I used to talk a lot about your dad to your uncle Tony." my mom teased, making my dad blow her a kiss.
"Yeah, and if I had to sit down with Tony and convince him that I was good enough for your mom, Peter has to sit down and convince me that he's good enough for you." he nodded.
"One, you guys are disgusting, and two, we're not even dating. We're just friends." I sighed as I stood up.
"Yeah, for now." my mom mumbled under her breath. I rolled my eyes before grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl.
"See you guys later!" I called as I left the kitchen.
"Have a good day, kid!" my dad yelled after me, making me smile and shake my head as I left the house.
~Two months later~
I walked into school, my earphones in as I tried to ignore the massive crowds of noisy teenagers. I walked to my locker and opened it before shoving stuff into it. Suddenly, a hand was put on my waist and one of my earphones was taken out, making me turn around to face the owner.
"Hey." I smiled at Peter, him returning it as he leant down and kissed me.
"Hey. You okay?" he chuckled as he curled his arms around my waist, making me hold my hands against his chest.
"Glad to see you." I admitted. He chuckled again and shook his head before leaning down and kissing me again. I returned it, smiling into the kiss. After I had left the house that morning two months ago, I had walked to Peter to find him holding a box of chocolates and a single red rose. He had asked me out on the walk to school, leaving me shocked but ecstatic at the fact that I'd be finally dating my crush. The issue was that he had no idea who I really was. No one at the school knew who my parents were, and for the sake of my safety, I had to keep it that way. Which made the feat of him meeting my parents very hard.
"Hey, I've been thinking." he spoke as he broke the kiss.
"About what?" I asked. He took a deep breath before looking at me.
"I'm ready to meet your parents." he admitted. My eyes widened. It's as if he read my mind, I thought as I just stared at him.
"...What?" I gulped.
"Yeah. We've been dating for two months, you met May within a week, I'm ready to meet your parents. I want to meet the people who raised my girlfriend to be so amazing." he chuckled. I gulped, my eyes still wide. What do I do, what do I do, I thought.
"U-um...I'll have to check with them. They're super strict about who comes into the house." I lied with a nod.
"How about you call your mom? I'm free for dinner tonight if they'll have me." he smiled. My eyes widened further.
"Y-yeah, I'll call her...that's...an idea." I nodded, giving him a very fake smile as I left his arms and headed down the hallway to be out of ear-shot. I took a deep breath, my heart pounding against my chest as I clicked on mom's number before holding the phone to my ear.
"Hey, honey." she picked up.
"Hey, mom, um, we have a situation." I nodded.
"What is it? Are you in danger?" she asked frantically.
"No, no, um...Peter wants to come over for dinner tonight...to meet you and dad." I admitted.
"Oh...my god. A different type of situation." she chuckled, making me nod to myself and bite my lip.
"What do I do? Because it's my cover blown if he knows who I am." I gulped.
"Hang on, honey. I want your dad's opinion on this too, so I'm going to put you on speakerphone." she spoke, making my eyes widen.
"Mom, no, I don't want dad to-."
"Hey, honey!" he spoke cheerily, making me close my eyes and pinch the bridge of my nose.
"Hey, dad." I sighed.
"Babe, do you trust Peter? Because you've been dating for two months now, I understand why he wants to meet us. Do you trust him enough to expose yourself to him?" Mom asked. I sighed and bit my lip as I looked over my shoulder. Peter smiled at me and waved, making my heart melt. What was I doing? Of course I trusted Peter enough. He almost definitely loved me after only two months together, he wouldn't put me in danger by telling others who my parents were. I turned back around.
"Yeah, mom. I do trust him." I admitted.
"Ooh, this is exciting, first dinner with the first boyfriend! I better get my shield ready." dad joked.
"Steve, Jesus, it's her first boyfriend, she'll be freaked out enough already without you saying things like that." mom scolded.
"It was a joke! You knew that it was a joke, right, kid?" my dad scoffed.
"Yes, dad, I got the joke." I sighed.
"See? She gets it." he chuckled, making me smile and bite my lip as I could only imagine the looks that my parents were giving each other right now.
"Okay, I'll bring him over tonight. Please, though, no weird Russian or forties' style food." I spoke.
"Hey, that Russian food is your heritage, young lady." mom scoffed, making me smile and shake my head as I hung up. I turned around, making Peter raise his eyebrows as I headed back to him.
"What do you want for dinner?" I chuckled. His eyes lit up, making me smile as he tightly hugged me. Maybe this would be okay after all.
"Mom, dad?! I'm home, and Pete is with me!" I yelled as I let myself and Peter into the house.
"Woah, this place is huge!" he laughed as he looked up and around.
"Yeah, um, my parents have good jobs." I nodded. He returned it and smiled as my mom appeared at the kitchen door.
"Hey, guys-oh, shit." I looked at her, my eyebrows furrowing as she looked at Peter with wide eyes.
"Oh my god." I heard Peter mumble next to me. I looked up at him, more questions entering my brain as he looked at her with equally panicked and wide eyes.
"Mom, this is Peter. Peter, this is my mom. Natasha Rogers." I smiled sheepishly. They just stared at each other, my gaze flicking between them.
"U-um..."
"Is Y/N home with Peter-oh, my god." my dad stopped in his tracks and bumped into mom's back, his expression matching mom's and Peter's as he saw him. What the fuck was going on?
"Peter, it's awesome to meet you. I've heard so much about you." mom smiled as she walked forward and shook his hand. He returned it hesitantly, panic plastered all over his face. I just couldn't work out why.
"I-it's great to meet you too...I-I'm sorry, I just, um...didn't realise that Y/N's parents were Avengers." Peter gulped.
"Yeah, I try to keep it to a need-to-know basis." I chuckled awkwardly.
"Um...I came out to say that dinner is ready...we, um, we're having risotto." my dad nodded.
"Oh, my god, thank you for not making anything super old-fashioned or Russian." I chuckled, taking Peter's hand and pulling him through to the dining room. We sat down, making me look at him.
"You okay? I'm sorry that I didn't tell you who my parents were." I gulped. He looked at me.
"N-no...it's okay, I just...it's a big deal having dinner with two of the biggest Avengers." he chuckled nervously.
"It's okay, Pete. Just be yourself and they'll love you." I reassured. He gulped and nodded, giving me a small smile as I put my hand over his.
I sat at the dinner table, next to Peter with my parents on the other side as we silently ate. I looked up every so often, my mind still so confused as my mom and dad exchanged panic glances.
"Guys, what's wrong? You're usually so talkative when we eat. So are you, Pete." I scoffed, making them look at me. Peter gulped and looked at my parents.
"U-um...well...erm-."
"Okay, honey, brace yourself because you're about to be hit with a lot of truth." mom stated. My eyebrows furrowed.
"What?" I scoffed.
"Are we really about to do this, Nat?" dad sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
"What else are we supposed to do? Sit here and silence and continue lying to her?" she returned. My eyes widened.
"What are you talking about? Are you my real parents or something?" I gulped. All three of them looked at me, mom and dad glancing at each other before looking back at me.
"We knew Peter before tonight, honey. Because he's also an Avenger." mom admitted. My eyes widened.
"WHAT?!" I exclaimed as I turned to face Pete.
"Y-yeah, I, um...I'm Spiderman." he chuckled nervously, though his face absolutely plastered with panic deceived him.
"Remember, honey, that he didn't really know who you were either until tonight." my dad nodded.
"HOW DOES THAT HELP?!" I yelled.
"My point is, go easy on him." he sighed. I returned it and bit my lip as I looked between my parents and Peter, all of them watching me in return to try and gauge what my reaction would be.
"So that's why you acted so weirdly when you saw each other. Because you're Spiderman, and so you work with my parents." I stated.
"That's about it." Peter gulped. I sighed and shook my head.
"I'm sorry for lying to you, Y/N. It's like with your parents, if you didn't know, you were safer." he nodded.
"I can't really be mad at you, Pete. I did lie to you too." I mumbled. His eyes widened.
"W-wait, so...you're okay with the fact that I'm Spiderman?" he scoffed.
"Pete, honey, she was raised by us, of course she's okay with it." mom nodded, making my dad smile as she gestured between them.
"True." he chuckled nervously.
"I won't lie, it'll take some getting used to. But, yeah. I was raised by two Avengers, and I lied to you too. It's not fair for me to be mad at you." I reassured. He sighed in relief, his hand raising to land against his chest as he sat back in the chair.
"Thank god for that." he smiled.
"Just, no more lies, from any of you. I'm a big girl, I can handle it." I teased.
"We know, honey. No more lies, we promise." dad nodded. I returned it and smiled, looking at Peter as he wrapped his arm around me.
"Now that the awkward bit is out of the way, Peter, what are your intentions with my daughter?"
