Sleeping with the enemy's daughter *part 2* (Peter Parker)
Peter's P.O.V
"Her dad is who?!" Ned exclaimed as him and Peter stood at Peter's locker.
"Y/N's dad is the vulture, the man who has tried to kill me at least three times already." Peter sighed, shoving his stuff into his locker.
"And what exactly did he say to you?" Ned asked.
"That I have to break up with Y/N, or he'll kill me, and if I tell her why I'm ending it, he'll kill aunt May. I have no choice, Ned." He choked, shutting his locker.
"Maybe you could just tell Y/N the situation." Ned shrugged.
"No, I can't do that to Y/N, I can't let her find out that not only is her dad a supervillain, but that he also tries to kill me whenever he sees me." He sighed.
"Speak of the devil." Ned mumbled. Peter turned around and his eyes wavered as he saw Y/N walk into school. Her eyes brightened slightly as she saw him, but he knew that he couldn't talk to her.
"Ned, I'm going to go, I can't talk to Y/N right now. Cover for me." He nodded, walking off before Ned could protest.
Y/N's P.O.V
I walked into school, staring down at my phone as I went. I looked up and my eyes brightened as I caught Peter's gaze. But my smile dipped immediately as he turned back to Ned before rushing off. I sighed. Peter had been really weird at dinner last night, and then hadn't texted me to let me know that he was home like he usually did. Something was definitely off, but I had no idea what the issue was. Ned's eyes widened slightly as I walked towards him.
"Hey, Y/N-."
"Ned, what's wrong with Peter?" I cut him off. He gulped.
"Nothing, he just, um...had a rough patrol last night." He shrugged. I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Well I definitely know now that you're lying, because he didn't go on patrol last night, he was at mine, for dinner with my parents." I nodded. Ned's eyes widened again.
"Oh, um...He...was...um..."
"Ned, I can tell that you're trying to think of a lie. You know what, whatever is wrong, tell Peter to talk to me when he's gotten over it." I scoffed before turning to walk away.
"It's not his fault." Ned blurted out. I turned to look at him and crossed my arms over my chest.
"What isn't his fault, Ned?" I asked. He sighed.
"I can't tell you, I'm sorry. Just, talk to him, I'll try to convince him to talk to you." He nodded. My eyes widened.
"What, is he mad at me or something?" I gulped.
"Talk to him." He nodded. I sighed again and returned Ned's nod.
"Okay. Thanks, Ned." I spoke, giving him a small smile as I passed him, trying not to cry as I felt like I was about to be broken up with.
I stood outside Peter's sixth-period class, waiting for him to come out. He'd been avoiding me all day, so it was all well and good Ned telling me to talk to him, but I couldn't do that if he did everything in his power to avoid me. The bell rang and people flooded out of the class, Peter in the flow.
"Pete." I spoke, making him look at me. His eyes widened slightly.
"Y/N...hey, sweetheart." He gulped, moving us to the side so that he could talk to me.
"Oh, so I'm still your girlfriend? I couldn't tell, since you've been avoiding me all day." I nodded, folding my arms over my chest. He sighed and nodded, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"I know, I'm sorry, I just...I'm trying to figure something out." He mumbled.
"Well, what is it? I'm sure that I can help." I shrugged.
"Not with this one, babe. I'm sorry, I just...I need to keep my distance whilst I figure this out." He gulped. My eyes wavered at his words.
"You're breaking up with me?" I choked. He sighed.
"No-I mean, yes-I mean, it's only temporary, I just need you to trust me on this." He nodded.
"Peter, I'm going to be honest, I don't know if I can do that. You're being so secretive right now, this isn't at all like you." I scoffed. I knew that something was wrong, it was just a matter of making him tell me.
"I just need us to take a little break, okay? I'm so sorry, and I know that this is out of the blue, but I need you to trust me." He begged.
"Peter, let me help you, we can figure this out together, just let me help-."
"You can't, Y/N." he cut me off harshly, suddenly gripping my upper arms and staring at me with a desperate look in his eyes. I choked, a tear leaving my eye at what he was doing. He sighed and looked down, gently loosening his grip on my arms before running his hands down my arms and taking my own hands in his.
"I'm sorry. I promise that I will fix this, but until I do, I just need a break, okay?" he asked, looking at me. I bit my lip, trying to stop more tears as I just stared at him. He sighed and leant in, gently kissing my head before turning around and walking in the other direction, leaving me stood there in the empty hallway, all alone.
