Just a kid *part 6* (Peter Parker)
I walked along the streets of New York, on my way to meet Doctor Strange at the Sanctuary. I gulped, tears pricking my eyes at the magnitude of what I was about to do. Naturally, I hadn't told any of the Avengers my plan, because they'd be bound to try and stop me. Not that I'd blame them, even I had to admit that it was a monumentally stupid plan. But it would bring Peter back, and that's all that mattered. I gulped, my feet climbing up the stone steps by themselves and pushing the door open.
"Hello? Doctor Strange?" I called out as I walked in and shut the door. My eyes widened as I looked up, a beautiful glass sky-light lighting up the hallway.
"Don't kids knock anymore?" I turned around and gulped as Doctor Strange walked towards me in his blue robes and the golden pendant around his neck.
"Are we going to do this, then?" I asked, untying my coat and taking it off to reveal my suit. Doctor Strange sighed and looked at me.
"You're just a kid, Y/N, so are you sure that you want to do this? One-hundred-percent, unequivocally sure?" he checked. I let out a shaky breath.
"No, but it'll get Peter back, and so I'll do it." I responded. The man sighed again, giving me a small smile as he nodded and walked towards me.
"Okay. In that case, I need to go over a couple of rules with you." He nodded. I returned it.
"First of all, and the most important rule, whatever you do in the past becomes the future. So, if Peter dies again, the future stays the same. If Tony or someone else dies, they will no longer be alive in the future. If you die, you don't get a future." He shook his head. I sighed, my eyes wavering as I nodded.
"Second rule, do not say anything about the future. As far as they're aware, you are the past you. Does that make sense?" he asked. I squinted my eyes slightly.
"..sure." I nodded slowly, making him roll his eyes.
"Okay, then you're all set. You ready?" he asked.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I gulped. He nodded, giving me one last small smile before he started to move his fingers in front of the pendant, making it open to reveal the stone. He held his palm out in front of him, making the glowing emerald stone float out of the pendant and hover above his palm. He looked at me.
"Good luck, Y/N. I liked Peter, he was a good kid, it'll be nice to have him back. And if it's you who takes his place, well...what you're doing is very brave. It was an honour to know you." He nodded. I gulped, a tear leaving my eye. He flicked his wrist, making me gasp as green energy engulfed me.
My eyes shot open and I gasped as I jolted up into a sitting position. I looked around, my eyes widening as I was in the bushes by the HYDRA base.
"Fuck me, it worked." I gulped.
"Y/N, Pete, you're up." Steve spoke in my ear. My eyes widened as Peter immediately shot up and launched himself into the air with a web.
"Peter, wait." I gulped into my comms as I got up and immediately started to run. I jumped into the air, launching myself at a HYDRA guard as my feet collided with his face and knocked him out as I landed.
"I'm not waiting, you catch up." He mumbled in return. I couldn't help but smile at the sound of his voice, something that I had very much missed, even if the sound was making a not so nice comment as I ran at the doors of the base. I put my arms up in an "x" shape in front of my face, protecting it as I ran into the doors. They flew open immediately, allowing me to run in next to Natasha and Steve.
"Peter, where are you? You need to get to the generator." I spoke into my comms as I raised my foot and kicked a HYDRA guard in the chest, sending him and the two men behind him falling down with the force. I looked down the hallway to see Peter dropping down from the ceiling, one hand in between his feet before he stood up.
"Keep up." He muttered before starting to run again. I gulped, a sinking feeling in my chest as I knew what was coming. But I'd be damned if I didn't stop it this time. I ran after the boy, knocking out every agent that he hadn't tied up with his webs.
"The generator should be on your left, kid." Tony spoke, making Peter's head turn.
"Got it." He nodded. He raised his foot and kicked the door, making it fly open as he strolled in.
"Remind me why I needed Y/N's help again?" he asked.
"Peter, I love you but shut up and do your fucking job." I nodded. His eyes widened.
"W-wait, did you just say that you loved me?" he gulped. My eyes widened slightly as I realised what I had just said, but I sighed.
"I did. Because I do. I love you, Peter." I nodded before walking up to him. His eyes widened as I took the back of his neck and pulled him down, joining our lips. He returned it immediately, holding my waist as he kissed me back. I knew that it was the worst possible time to be sharing our first kiss, but I was about to die, and I wasn't going to end my life before telling Peter the truth. He broke the kiss and looked down at me.
"Y/N, I...I love you too." He smiled. I returned and nodded, a tear leaving my eye as I knew what was about to come. As if on cue, I choked as pain started to shoot through me. Peter looked down and his eyes widened as flowers of crimson liquid started to blossom from the hole in my stomach.
"NO!" he screamed, yelling out as he fired a web at the HYDRA guard. It attached to his head and Peter pulled harshly, making the HYDRA guard smack against the wall and knock himself out.
"Y/N, fuck, no, no." Peter choked, sinking to his knees with me in his arms as he desperately pressed his free hand to the wound.
"That hurt more than I thought it would." I chuckled shakily. Peter looked at me, his eyes red as tears ran down his face.
"Y/N, you're dying, how can you be joking right now?" he choked.
"Because I'm with you, Peter." I nodded. He choked again, biting his lip as he looked down at the wound. He gulped and shook his head before looking back at my face.
"No. You're not going to die, not today." He shook his head as he hooked his arm under my legs and picked me up bridal style.
"Peter, it's okay-."
"No, it's not. Keep pressure on the wound, I'm going to get you help." He promised, giving me a small smile as he started to rush me through the base. I returned it and nodded, pressing my hand to the wound and resting my head on his shoulder as I let my eyes flutter shut.
Peter's P.O.V
Peter sat by Y/N's bed, his hand wrapped in hers as she lay there, still unconscious. A tear ran down his face, him wanting nothing more than for her to wake up.
"Hey, kid." Peter looked up and his eyes widened as Doctor Strange stood at the door to Y/N's hospital suite.
"D-Doctor Strange, um, what are you doing here?" he gulped.
"I came to see how she's doing. I heard what happened." He nodded, walking into the room. Peter's eyebrows furrowed, the situation being a bit weird, but he shook it off as he looked back at Y/N.
"Peter, how good are you at keeping secrets?" the man asked. He looked at him.
"I'm Spiderman and only my aunt and two closest friends know, so I'd say very good." He scoffed. Doctor Strange looked at him.
"It was meant to be you who was in this bed, and you were meant to die." He admitted. Peter's eyebrows furrowed, the confession only making him more confused.
"What?" he scoffed.
"In the mission, you got shot because Y/N dodged a bullet, literally. Whether you were meant to be shot or whether Y/N was meant to be, I don't know, but you died because of it. Y/N asked for my help to use the time stone to go back and save you, which is why she got shot instead of you." He nodded. Peter's eyes widened.
"What?! Why the fuck did you let her go back?!" he exclaimed.
"Because I knew that she survives this." Doctor Strange nodded. Peter sighed a breath of relief and gulped as he sat back in his chair.
"Peter, no matter what, you cannot tell anyone about this, not even Y/N. This is now her present, so I will be the only one who ever remembers her travelling back to save you, her saving you is now her only past. You cannot tell anyone. If you do, you risk changing the entire course of human history. Do you understand?" he asked.
"Um...sure." Peter nodded, gulping. Doctor Strange gave him a small smile before making his way back to the door.
"Look, Peter, the two of you have tough times ahead, but stick together. I've seen your futures, and they're nice. They're happy. If you stick together." He nodded. Peter returned it.
"Thanks, Doctor Strange. I appreciate it." He replied. The man gave him a small smile and nodded one last time before leaving the room. Peter sighed and looked back at Y/N, trying to take everything in. Had she really gone back in time to save him and risk killing herself? Peter would be having serious words with her once she woke up about how she shouldn't have put herself in harm's way for him, but for now, he let love fill his heart as he took her hand again and pressed his lips to her skin.
"We're going to be okay." He whispered, a tear rolling down his cheek as a smile curled onto his lips.
~One month later~
Y/N's P.O.V
I kicked my leg out at Peter, him dodging it with ease as he dropped to his feet and swiped his leg out at me, making me groan as I fell onto the mats. Peter immediately straddled me, making me groan in annoyance as he pinned my hands above my head.
"This isn't fair, I know that you're using your full strength!" I exclaimed.
"Babe, super-strength is your superpower, you should be able to get out of this easily." He chuckled. I raised my eyebrow at his cheekiness before wrapping my legs around his waist and rolling us over before pinning his arms above his head instead.
"Yeah, well, maybe I like being pinned down with you on top of me." I teased, making Peter smirk and start to lean up to kiss me.
"Hey!" Peter rested his head back against the crash-mat and we both looked to the side to see Tony stood there, arms crossed over his chest.
"This room is for training, not for activities that will result in a teen pregnancy." He teased, making me groan.
"We are training." Peter insisted, making me squeal as he rolled us over again so that he was on top.
"Uh-huh. Keep it PG." Tony chuckled before leaving. I sighed and looked up at Peter, making him chuckle and shake his head.
"You heard him, Parker. Keep it PG." I teased. He smirked and shook his head before leaning down and kissing me.
