Away (Tom Holland)
Requested by Reader_Lover9000: can you please do an imagine where Tom and you have four kids and they start to think that he doesn't want them since he's always away, so he has to make it up to them
"Come on, kids, daddy's leaving!" I yelled up the stairs, my arms cradling a sleeping baby Morgan as Tom shrugged his coat on.
"What?! He can't leave without saying goodbye!" Rosie exclaimed, her and Peter running down the stairs as James waddled behind them.
"Do you really think that I would leave without saying goodbye to all of my little monsters, huh? Of course not!" Tom laughed, making Rosie and Peter squeal as he picked them up in his arms.
"Where are you going?" Peter asked quietly as I picked James up with my free arm, all of the kids being held between Tom and I.
"Daddy is going to transform into Spiderman again." Tom smiled.
"Yay!" James squealed, making Tom and I chuckle as Rosie and Peter wrapped their small arms around Tom's neck, him returning the hug.
"We'll miss you, daddy." Rosie sniffled quietly.
"I'll miss you guys too, so, so much. But I'll be back in no time, okay?" he reassured, giving them small smiles before putting them down. He smiled at James, making the small boy squeal as Tom gently took him from me.
"You going to be good for mummy, and your big brother and sister?" he asked as he gently bobbed him up and down.
"Yeah." James nodded enthusiastically, making Tom and I smile as he hugged James before putting him down. He smiled at Morgan and made grabby hands towards her, making her laugh and squeal like her brother had as Tom took her too.
"I'll miss you, so much, baby girl." He smiled at her. She stared at him with eyes identical to his own, small sounds and gurgles leaving her mouth as she chewed on her fist. Tom looked at me.
"I'll be back in no time, yeah? I'll miss you so much." He spoke, his voice cracking slightly as he tightly hugged me. I returned it and bit my lip, giving him a slightly forced a smile as I held his face.
"I always feel bad about leaving you with four kids under the age of ten." He winced slightly.
"We'll be fine, Tommy. We always are." I shrugged. He sighed and nodded before leaning down and gently kissing me. I had to admit that it was always hard when Tom left, especially for months on end. It was absolutely hectic trying to raise four kids all under the age of six at the best of times, it became that much harder when it was only me. But we managed. And it was Tom's wages that were giving our children the lives that we wanted for them. Morgan squealed and gently hit one fist each against mine and Tom's faces, making us groan as we broke the kiss.
"Ow." Tom chuckled before gently giving Morgan back to me and picking up his bag.
"I'll see you little monsters in a month, okay? But I'll Facetime mummy every day and will talk to you guys too, yeah?" He reassured as he opened the front door.
"Daddy, don't go!" Rosie screamed as her and Peter grabbed one of his legs each. I sighed, quickly putting Morgan in her living room crib as I knew that Tom would need help making the other three kids let him leave.
"I have to, Ro, but I'll be back so soon, and I'll have presents!" he exclaimed.
"Yay, presents!" Peter laughed as I picked up James.
"Come on, you two, daddy has to go now." I sighed, tears running down the kids' faces as they finally tore themselves away from Tom's legs. He looked at me and gave me a small smile.
"See you later. I love you." He nodded.
"I love you too." I returned, leaning over the kids and pecking his lips once more. He gave me a small smile, forcing a more enthusiastic one onto his face for the kids as he headed down the path and towards the car. And that was him gone, for the next two months.
~One week later~
"Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are." I sang gently as I cradled Morgan in my arms, the baby fighting to stay awake but her eyes were betraying her as they slowly but surely fluttered shut. I sighed in relief, knowing that the hardest child to put down was now asleep as I carefully lowered her into her crib before retracting my arms. I sighed and left the room, ready to tackle the other three kids. I loved Tom unconditionally, and his work was making a better life for our kids, but it still got very tiring very quickly to have to deal with our very young children by myself for months at a time. By this point, I just wanted him home. I walked into Peter and James' room, smiling to myself as Peter, Rosie and James were all playing with Lego on the floor.
"Come on, kids, it's time for bed." I nodded.
"No! We're still playing!" Rosie exclaimed.
"I know, sweetheart, but you can play more tomorrow. It's getting late, and Morgan is in bed, so you three need to be too." I stated.
"But Morgan is younger than us." James whined.
"I'll tell daddy to bring you extra presents if you go to bed now." I bribed, laughing as all three of them shot up.
"When's daddy coming back?" Peter asked as him and James got into their beds. I sighed as I sat down on the edge of James' bed and picked Rosie up before sitting her on my lap.
"In a little bit. He's not been gone very long, my darlings, so I'm afraid that it'll still be a while before he comes home." I admitted.
"Does daddy still love us?" Rosie asked quietly. My eyes widened as I looked at her.
"Of course he does, Rosie, why would you ask that?" I scoffed.
"Mummy, he's always away and is never home to play with us." James huffed. I sighed and looked at them.
"Your daddy loves all of us very much, okay? It's a shame that his job means that he can't be here to play with you more, but he does what he does so that you can have all of the nice toys, and so that you can go to a nice school when you're old enough, and he does it so that mummy can stay here and look after you four. He does it because he loves you, not because he doesn't love you." I spoke.
"Does he miss us as much as we miss him?" Rosie asked in a small voice.
"Of course he does, sweetheart. He might even miss you more. He misses and loves you so much, you don't ever doubt that, okay?" I reassured.
"Okay, mummy." James nodded. I sighed and returned it, standing up as I picked Rosie up.
"Goodnight, my two princes. Sleep well." I spoke, gently turning off their bedside lamp as I started to carry Rosie out of the room.
"Night, mummy." Both boys mumbled quietly, making me sigh again as I carried Rosie to her room.
I sat on the sofa, watching TV quietly and sipping my glass of wine. Suddenly, my phone started to buzz, making me smile as Tom's face and number appeared on the screen. I swiped the "accept call" button, my smile widening as the FaceTime started.
"Hey, sweetheart." He smiled widely at me.
"Hey, babe. You okay?" I chuckled.
"Yeah, just thinking about my beautiful family. How are the kids doing?" he asked. My smile dipped slightly, something that Tom noticed.
"What, Y/N? What's wrong, is one of them hurt?" he gulped.
"No, no, Tommy, nothing like that, it's just..." I sighed and looked down.
"Darling, please tell me, it's going to stress me out if something is wrong with my kids and I don't know what." He gulped. I bit my lip and looked back at him.
"When I was putting Rosie, Peter and James to bed, they asked if you still loved them." I nodded, my eyes wavering. Tom choked, a tear immediately leaving his eye.
"What? Why would they ask that?" he choked.
"I guess that to them, you being away a lot equated to you not wanting them, or not loving them." I admitted. Tom gulped, his eyes wavering as he looked down.
"What did you say to that?" he asked.
"I said that of course you love them, and that you do this because you love them. I reassured them that you miss them so much, and that you love them so much." I reassured.
"And did that work?" he gulped. I sighed and bit my lip.
"I'm sorry, Tommy, I don't know." I admitted, making him choke as more tears left his eyes.
"Tommy, don't let this get to you. They're small kids, you know that kids come out with crazy stuff sometimes." I tried to reassure him.
"But they're right, Y/N, I'm always away, I'm missing their most important years. So much so that even at their young age, they're noticing that I'm not there." He choked and shook his head. I sighed, a tear leaving my eye at how upset he was.
"I'm sorry, babe. I didn't want to upset you." I shook my head.
"No, no, you did the right thing, I'm glad that you told me." He nodded. I sighed and returned it.
"Tommy, it's late here, so I'm going to head to bed. But I'll call tomorrow. I love you." I nodded.
"I love you too, sweetheart. Sleep well." He gave me a small smile, but I could tell that it was completely fake as he hung up the call. I sighed and put my phone down, wiping the tears that had fallen from my eyes.
~The next day~
I stood in the kitchen, making pancakes as Morgan sat in her high chair and the three other kids sat at the coffee table in the living room part of the kitchen, watching TV. Suddenly, the doorbell rang, making me look up as I heard the kids run to it and open it.
"DADDY!" my eyes widened. I quickly wiped my hands down before rushing through into the hallway. My eyes widened further as Tom stood there, James already in his arms and Rosie and Peter already clinging onto his legs.
"Hey, my little monsters! Gosh, I missed you so much!" Tom laughed before spotting me.
"I missed mummy too." He nodded as he stared straight into my eyes.
"I missed you too, of course I did, but what are you doing here? You weren't meant to have a break for a month." I scoffed as I rushed to him and quickly pecked his lips before looking at him. He sighed and gently put James down.
"You three go back into the living room, mummy and daddy will be there in a second." He smiled. I stared at Tom as the kids squealed and ran back into the living room, making him sigh as he curled his arms around my waist.
"After you told me about what the kids said, I couldn't stay in America. I talked to the Russo Brothers, explained the situation and they gave me a few days off. I need to figure out what I do from here on out." He admitted. My eyes widened.
"Tommy, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to ruin your schedule, I should never have told you-."
"Hey, hey, hey." He chuckled, making me sigh as he gently took my face in his hands.
"You didn't ruin anything, darling. Without you and the kids, nothing else matters. My life doesn't matter without the five of you. So if it starts to become a choice of travelling for jobs, and staying home to be a present dad, I will always pick the latter. And I'll pick it in a heartbeat." He reassured. I sighed and nodded, gently pecking Tom's lips again before taking his hand and pulling him into the living room.
I pulled into the drive and shut the car off before grabbing the bag of shopping that sat on the passenger's seat. Tom had insisted on spending the entire day with the kids, going golfing and to the movies as a way to make up for the lost time that they'd shared. I climbed out of the car and locked it before opening the front door and walking in. My eyebrows furrowed as, as soon as I walked in, I could hear a mix of shrieking voices, though I could tell that it was meant to be singing.
"Oh, god." I chuckled to myself as I walked into the living room to see Karaoke on the TV, with Tom singing into one microphone and Rosie singing into another. Well, the sounds coming out of Rosie's mouth couldn't really be called singing, but I wasn't about to tell my five-year-old daughter that.
"Hello, you loud bunch." I chuckled, making all of them look at me.
"Mummy!" Peter yelled as him and James ran to me. I laughed as I bent down to hug them, my arms wrapping tightly around my boys.
"You're just in time to join in on the next song, babe." Tom chuckled as I sat down next to him and sat James on my lap.
"No, no, you know that I can't sing." I smiled in return, making Tom laugh as he paused the music.
"Now that mummy's home, I need to talk to you kids about something." He stated as he sat up and went to Morgan's crib. My smile dipped, my mind starting to wonder about what he was going to say as he sat back down with Morgan on his lap, Peter sitting on his other knee and Rosie climbing up onto my spare knee. Tom sighed and gave small smiles to the kids before speaking.
"So, mummy told me that you kids got a bit upset about how often I'm away, and that's perfectly okay. But I want you to know that I'm going to change that." He promised. My eyes widened slightly.
"What does that mean, daddy?" Peter asked.
"It means that daddy is going to spend more time at home, with you little monsters and mummy. It means that if I get offered a job that will make me go away again, I'm going to give it a lot more thought that I have done before, and might even say no." he admitted. My eyes widened further.
"Tommy, are you sure that you want to do this?" I scoffed quietly.
"Like I said, nothing is worth it if I don't have you guys. Nothing." He choked and shook his head. I sighed and nodded.
"So, what do you kids think? Would you prefer it if daddy didn't spend as much time away from you?" he asked, looking between the four of them.
"Yeah." Peter nodded eagerly, making Tom chuckle and nod.
"Okay then. Looks like I'm sticking around then." He smiled. I returned it and nodded before leaning forward and gently pecking his lips before hugging the kids.
