A normal life *final part* (Peter Parker)

Drying tear tracks stained my face, my head thumping from all of the crying that I'd done as my eyes stayed glued to Peter's now still figure. He had been shot what must have been hours ago, and he had completely stopped moving soon after. I bit my lip, the pool of blood that he was lying in and his completely still body telling me that he was dead, but I refused to believe it. I refused to believe that the love of my life was dead. I choked and looked down, fresh tears starting to prick my eyes as I started to break down and accept the truth. That Peter was dead, made worse by the fact that despite having the skills to stop his death, I had been prevented from doing so. A smart move on the weapons' designer's part, and one that was tearing me apart. My head shot back up as the door opened and my eyes wavered as the weapons' designer walked in with two of his men. His eyes flicked to Peter's unmoving body, his lips forming into a fake pout as he looked at me.

"Told you that he'd die once he came to rescue you." He nodded.

"Fuck you." I spat, trying to lurch forward but not being able to given that I was still tied to the chair. He smirked and shook his head before looking at his men. They nodded and moved towards me, one of them untying my legs and the other cutting the rope that held my hands together. I struggled against their grip as the one behind me forced me up by my arms and shoved me towards the door.

"Get the fuck off of me." I spat, continuing to fight their grip as they forced me out into the hallway and along the corridor.

"Where are you assholes taking me?" I snapped as the weapons' designer walked in front of us and led the way.

"Ah, ah, ah, that's for me to know and for you to find out." He smirked, making me gulp as we turned a corner. But as soon as we entered the new corridor, he halted immediately. I looked ahead and my eyes widened as the path was blocked by Peter's old team, Ant-man, Hawkeye, and the Hulk. My lips started to curl into a smirk.

"Sorry to intrude, this looks like a lovely little torture party ready to happen, but we're going to go ahead and snatch away your main guest." Scott nodded, looking at me and giving me a reassuring wink. I smiled and bit my lip, my heart starting to fill with hope again.

"Get the fuck out of here. The only way that you're leaving with her is if she's in a body bag." The designer smirked.

"We'll take her alive, thanks." Clint nodded before quickly loading an arrow into his bow and firing it at the guard holding me. He immediately fell down, letting me out of his grip. As soon as he let go, I sprinted towards the three men as Clint shot another arrow into the second guard.

"Woah, you're okay, it's alright." Scott chuckled as I ran into his arms.

"Peter's in a bad way, he may be already gone." I choked. His smile dipped and he nodded before looking at the weapons' designer.

"Are you going to let us go get Mr Parker and then take you in, or do we have to kill you to get him?" Scott asked.

"Go fuck yourselves." He spat as he lunged at us. Before I knew what was happening, Clint raised his bow again and fired the arrow, making me jump and bury my face in Scott's chest to avoid seeing the wretched man die.

"You're okay, it's okay." He soothed, gently cupping my head. I pulled away, gulping as I took a moment to look at the man's corpse that was now lying lifeless on the ground.

"Peter." I choked as I rushed past the bodies and back towards the room that we were trapped in. I rushed in, immediately collapsing to my knees and pulling Peter's lifeless body into my arms.

"Wake up, Peter, please." I choked as I held my fingers to his neck. My eyes widened, a choke leaving my lips as the other rushed in. I looked up at them.

"He has a pulse, but it's weak." I gulped.

"That's our boy, still fighting." Clint nodded as Hulk walked in and gently picked Peter up before hauling him over his shoulder.

"Come on, let's get you guys out of here." Scott nodded, putting a hand on my shoulder and leading me out of the room.

I stood at the door to Peter's room in Tony's cabin, biting my lip as I stared at the boy who was asleep in the bed and was hooked up to too many machines to count. I looked to my side and gave Tony a small smile, him returning it as he joined me in looking at Peter.

"How's he doing?" he asked. I nodded.

"Bruce got him stabilised and pumped him full of new blood and painkillers. He'll be okay." I spoke, tears pricking my eyes. Tony looked at me.

"And how are you doing? I know that you're not exactly used to being kidnapped, nearly killed and then being rescued by the Avengers." He chuckled. I returned it and looked at him.

"I-I'm okay. Mainly just glad that Peter is okay and trying to wrap my head around it because you're right. I'm a nobody, so I wasn't ready for what happened." I shook my head.

"Hey, don't say that. Peter wouldn't have fallen in love with you if you were a nobody. You did well today." He nodded.

"Thanks, Mr Stark." I gulped, biting my lip as I still felt his gaze on me.

"You know how much Peter loves you, right?" he asked. I looked up at him.

"Are you trying to tell me something, Mr Stark?" I asked. He chuckled and shook his head.

"He'd kill me if he knew that I was telling you this, so I'll tell you before he wakes up. But he came to me before he proposed to you, to ask if it was a good idea." He admitted. My eyes widened slightly.

"I said to him "are you sure you're ready?" because you two had only been dating for, what, a year by that point? And you were still both so young, you were fresh out of college and still had so much to do. But do you want to know what he said in response to that?" he asked, looking at me.

"Tell me." I spoke quietly.

"He said that he'd known that you were the one from the first time that he had seen you. He said that he had fallen in love with you the moment that you two had locked eyes and that he hadn't stopped falling since. He said that he didn't care how old you two were and that if he would have met you at sixteen, he would still have wanted to marry you there and then. He said that he could see the rest of his life in you and that he wasn't going to let you slip away. He bought the engagement ring straight after seeing me." He nodded. I bit my lip, tears pricking my eyes as I gave Tony a small smile.

"I've never seen love like I have between the two of you. I don't even love Pepper as much as Peter loves you, and I have a kid with Pepper." He teased, making me smile as he gently nudged my arm.

"I heard all of that, by the way." Our heads shot to Peter, and my eyes widened as his eyes slowly but surely fluttered open.

"Peter, oh my god." I choked as I immediately rushed into the room and to his side.

"Y/N, thank god." He returned as I took his face and pressed our lips together. He returned it immediately, smiling against my lips as he held my face. I broke the kiss and joined our foreheads.

"You scared the shit out of me, don't ever do that again." I sighed as I held his face, gently stroking my thumbs against his cheeks.

"I'm sorry, babe. Not just for scaring you, for all of this. I should never have said yes to the mission." He shook his head.

"It's okay, Pete. You did what you had to." I reassured. He gave me a small smile and nodded before looking at Tony.

"Thank you, Mr Stark. For letting us stay here and looking after Y/N." he spoke.

"She didn't need looking after, Pete, that girl is made of steel." He nodded.

"Yes, she is." Peter chuckled and nodded as he looked at me, making me bite my lip and smile.

It had been a week since Peter and I had been rescued by the Avengers and we had been staying at Tony's cabin so that Peter could recover before we headed home. But today was the day that we were leaving.

"You got everything, babe?" Peter asked as he picked up the suitcase that held his suit and started to carry it to the door.

"Um, I think so. I'll be out in a minute." I nodded. He returned it before disappearing into the corridor. I sighed, looking around the room that Peter had recovered in. I looked down and bit my lip as I stared at my wedding and engagement rings. I smiled to myself, remembering what Tony had said about the night that Peter had bought the ring.

"And to think I nearly let you be just a one-night stand." I whispered, chuckling to myself as I raised my hand and gently kissed the rings.

"Hey, don't kiss the rings, kiss me." I turned around and chuckled as Peter walked back into the room.

"Come here then, Mr Parker, CEO of Stark Industries." I teased. He smirked and shook his head as he walked into the room and towards me. I bit my lip, the smile also on my lips as he took my waist and leant down to press our lips together. I returned it instantly and combed my fingers through his hair to pull him closer. I giggled against Peter's lips, making him smile as he deepened the kiss.

"Steady on, you two." Peter groaned and broke the kiss, looking over his shoulder to reveal Tony stood there.

"I can't remember the last time I kissed my wife, Mr Stark, so thanks for interrupting." He nodded, making Tony chuckle and shake his head.

"Kiss her as much as you want when you're home, but for now, the car is ready." He spoke.

"Thanks, Tony, we'll be out in a minute." I nodded. He returned it and gave us a small smile before leaving the room. Peter sighed and looked back at me.

"You ready to go home, angel?" he asked, gently stroking his thumb against my cheek.

"Let's go." I smiled, taking Peter's hand and pulling him out of the room. We walked out of the cabin and onto the road where the car was parked, and where everyone was waiting to say goodbye to us.

"Stay out of trouble, kid. I don't want you to be on the verge of death the next time that I see you." Scott chuckled as he shook Peter's hand.

"That won't be a problem, I'm not planning on nearly dying again anytime soon." Peter returned before turning to Bruce and Clint and shaking their hands. He turned to Tony lastly, making the man give him a small smile.

"Thank you for letting us stay here, Mr Stark. I really appreciate it." Peter nodded.

"You kidding me? I know that you're not a kid anymore, but I'll always be here for you, Pete. You know that." He replied.

"I know, Mr Stark. Thank you." He smiled. Tony returned it before tightly wrapping his arms around Peter and hugging him. Peter returned it, gripping his former mentor just as tightly before pulling away. Tony looked at me before returning his glance to Peter.

"Don't let her go, Pete. You got a good one there." He nodded.

"I know." Peter replied, his lips in a small smile as he looked at me contently. I looked down, trying to hide my blush as I opened the car door.

"Safe journey, guys. Stay out of trouble." Clint nodded as Peter got into the drivers' seat.

"We will. Thank you for everything." I smiled as Peter started the car and started to drive. I sighed, sitting back in my seat as Peter put his hand on my thigh. I looked at him, a small smile on my lips as I put my hand over his.

"I'm sorry for all of this, angel. You didn't sign up for this." He sighed. I returned it and looked at him.

"I did, though, Pete. I married Spiderman." I nodded. He chuckled and looked at me, his gaze flicking to the road as he raised my hand and kissed it.

"Back to a normal life?" he asked, raising his eyebrow.

"Back to a normal life." I nodded and smiled. He returned it, kissing my hand again as we drove along the road and headed back to our normal life.
