Zendaya *part 1* (Tom Holland)
Requested by Reader_Lover9000: Y/N is Tom's girlfriend but has never met Zendaya before. When she finally comes over for dinner and a movie, Zendaya is really rude and trashy to Y/N and says bad things about her acting, even though she's also an amazing actress. Tom is oblivious and ignores what's going on whilst Harrison tries to cheer Y/N up.
I stood in Tom's kitchen, helping him and Harrison to cook and get ready for the night ahead.
"You okay, darling?" Tom mumbled as he wrapped his arms around my waist from behind and leant down to gently kiss my neck.
"Yeah, just nervous." I chuckled.
"Don't be. She's going to love you." He reassured, making me smile and look over my shoulder to peck his lips. Today was the day that I was finally meeting one of Tom's best friends, Zendaya. Tom and I had met six years ago when I'd been cast to play his love interest in the movie 'Cherry'. We'd been dating in reality ever since, but somehow I had yet to meet Zendaya. Tonight was the night that she was finally coming over for a movie and dinner, and I was excited. I snapped out of my thoughts as we heard the doorbell ring.
"That'll be her. Here we go." He smiled, making me gulp as he pecked my cheek before going to answer the door.
"You okay, mate? You look terrified." Harrison chuckled as he sat at the island. I sighed and bit my lip.
"I kind of am. I mean, she's Tom's best friend, so I need to make a good impression." I spoke.
"You made an amazing impression on me when we first met, you'll do the same with Zendaya." He reassured. I nodded and gave him a small smile as Tom and Zendaya walked into the room.
"Z, you know Harrison. And this lovely lady is my girlfriend, Y/N." He smiled proudly as he gestured to me.
"It's amazing to meet you." I chuckled as I hugged her. She hesitantly returned it, her hands barely touching me before she pulled away.
"Yeah, whatever. I recognise you, what have I seen you in?" She scoffed.
"Um, 'Cherry' maybe? That's how Tom and I met, I played "Emily"." I nodded.
"Oh, yeah. Tom was amazing in that, you were...eh." She shrugged before turning to talk to Harrison. My eyes widened slightly, my breath hitching in my throat at her words. Had Zendaya just insulted my acting? That one hurt. I forced a smile back onto my lips as I joined the rest of them and tried to not show how hurt I was.
I sat on Tom's lap, the four of us watching a movie as we ate the food that I'd cooked.
"Can someone pause it, I'm going to grab some water." Zendaya spoke.
"Yeah, sure." Tom nodded as he paused the movie.
"I need a drink too." I stated, another pit forming in my stomach as Zendaya rolled her eyes and stood up. I gulped and gave Tom a small smile as I stood from his lap and headed into the kitchen.
"Who cooked that food? It tasted awful." Zendaya mumbled. I looked at her.
"I did." I nodded, making her look at me.
"I stand by my comment." She shrugged. My eyes wavered and I desperately tried not to cry as she went and sat back down next to Harrison. I gulped and looked down, a tear rolling down my face. I had honestly thought that Zendaya and I would become friends upon meeting, especially given how fondly Tom talked about her. But instead of that, she'd been making snide little comments under her breath the whole time. The worst part was that Tom was completely oblivious to it. I wasn't sure if he just wasn't noticing the comments, or if he was choosing not to intervene, but either way, I felt let down.
"Hey." I looked to my side and gave Harrison a small smile as the boy put his hand on my back.
"You okay?" he mumbled quietly. I choked and shook my head, making Harrison look back at Tom and Zendaya.
"Come on, let's go talk." he muttered as he gently wrapped his arm around me and led me out of the room. He led us into the study and I took a seat on the sofa as Harrison shut the door.
"Hey, it's okay, what's wrong?" he cooed as he wrapped his arms around me.
"I-I just always thought that she'd be so nice, and we'd become friends because of Tom, you know? But all she's done is make nasty little comments about me, my cooking, my acting, my looks. What have I ever done to her?" I choked.
"You've done nothing, which is why I'm so confused as to why she's being like this. She's lovely to everyone else, so I don't know what her problem is." he shook his head. I looked at him.
"Is it possible that she likes him and that she's being a dick to me because he's dating me?" I gulped. He sighed.
"It's possible, I guess, but very unlikely. She doesn't like him like that as far as I'm aware." he reassured. I bit my lip.
"Look, we better head back in. But I'll say something if I hear her make a comment, and I'll sit there and cuddle you if you need cheering up." he smiled, making me laugh and nod.
"Thanks, Haz, I appreciate it." I chuckled, making his smile widen. Suddenly, the door opened, making us both look at it. I gulped as Tom stood there. I knew that it wasn't his fault that Zendaya was being mean, but it was his fault that he wasn't saying anything to defend me. I was actually kind of annoyed at him for that.
"What's going on here?" he mumbled quietly.
"Nothing, mate. We were just heading back." Harrison nodded and stood up. Tom glared at both of us, and I could tell that he was annoyed as I walked to him.
"Is there a problem, love?" he muttered. I shook my head and looked at him.
"No. Not at all." I lied, making him sigh as I walked past him and back into the living room.
Tom's P.O.V
Everyone sat in Tom's living room, Y/N on his lap as they watched a movie.
"Can someone pause it, I'm going to grab some water." Zendaya spoke.
"Yeah, sure." Tom nodded as he paused the movie.
"I need a drink too." Y/N stated as Zendaya stood up. Y/N gave Tom a small smile as she stood from his lap and headed into the kitchen, Tom's attention turning back to the movie. He looked at Harrison, his jaw clenched slightly as he looked at his best friend. Harrison had been making little comments and jokes to Y/N all evening, and the way that he was making her laugh was starting to annoy Tom. Every time that Zendaya would make a joke to Y/N, his best mate would combat it with another one, and he couldn't understand why. Zendaya sat back down, leaving Y/N in the kitchen as Harrison stood up and went to her.
"Fucking again, really?" Tom mumbled, also drawing Zendaya's attention to the pair as Harrison put his hand on Y/N's back.
"Are they always that close?" she asked.
"Not at all." he shook his head. His eyes widened slightly as Harrison led Y/N out of the kitchen and into Tom's study before shutting the door.
"What the fuck is up with them tonight? Y/N's been acting like a wounded puppy all evening." he scoffed.
"I think that the issue is that your girlfriend can't take a joke." Zendaya nodded bluntly. Tom sighed and looked at the closed door. He was really starting to get pissed off now. What was Y/N possibly saying to Harrison that she couldn't say to him?
"Fuck it." he mumbled before standing up and going to the door. He opened it, making the pair look at him from the sofa.
"What's going on here?" he mumbled quietly.
"Nothing, mate. We were just heading back." Harrison nodded and stood up. Tom glared at both of them, his blood boiling with anger as Y/N walked to him.
"Is there a problem, love?" he muttered as he tried to see if she'd be honest with him. She shook her head and looked at him.
"No. Not at all." she replied, making him sigh as she walked past him and back into the living room.
Y/N's P.O.V
"Thanks for inviting me, I had a great evening." Zendaya smiled as she got her coat on.
"It was great to meet you." I nodded, my lips desperately trying to force a smile.
"Whatever." she scoffed before looking at Tom. My smile dipped, Harrison's arm wrapping around me in reassurance as I tried not to cry.
"I'll walk you out." Tom nodded as they disappeared down the hall. I looked at Harrison.
"That was the worst afternoon of my life." I scoffed.
"I'm so sorry, mate." he sighed, making me return it as Tom appeared at the door again. He looked at us.
What the fuck was that?" he spat. My eyes widened, as did Harrison's.
"Mate-."
"Excuse me?!" I exclaimed as I stood up.
"You guys were being all cosy and friendly that whole time, meanwhile you completely ignored Zendaya, the girl that you've been begging to meet for years now." Tom snapped, making my eyes widen further.
"Tell me that you're not that oblivious, Tom." Harrison mumbled.
"Oblivious to what, Harrison?" Tom hissed.
"Oblivious to the fact that she didn't say a single nice comment to me this entire afternoon. Oblivious to the fact that the first comment out of her mouth was about my apparent lack of acting skills and the last comment was her shrugging off me saying goodbye. She was nothing but rude, nasty, toxic, everything to me. And you didn't step in once, not once did you say 'hey, maybe don't say that'. Harrison and I weren't being cosy and friendly, he was defending me. He was cheering me up, he was making sure that I was okay, which is what you should have been doing. But instead of making sure that your best friend's comments about your girlfriend didn't hurt her too much, you sat by and just let it happen. You let her tear my confidence apart!" I cried as tears started to rapidly fall. Tom looked at me with wide eyes.
"What are you talking about, Y/N? I didn't hear a single nasty comment come out of her mouth. Honestly, I think that you're just jealous that she doesn't like you but likes me." he scoffed and nodded. My eyes widened, a breathless laugh leaving my lips.
"I can't believe you, Tom." Harrison mumbled as he shook his head.
"Haz, you know what? It's fine. Because yes, I'm completely wrong, we clearly imagined that all of that was said tonight, I'm just jealous. Fuck you, Tom." I spat before grabbing my purse and rushing out of the kitchen and down the hall.
"Y/N, for fucks' sake, it's ten at night, where are you going?!" he called after me as I opened the front door.
"Anywhere away from you!" I yelled back, my vision blurry with tears as I slammed the door shut.
