The nurse and the actor (Tom Holland)

Requested by sorayasososos: Y/N is a nurse, she meets Tom at the hospital that she works at and they slowly fall in love.

*Please note: this one-shot contains mild injury detail. I myself can only handle a certain amount of gore, so I really haven't gone into detail, but if you're made squeamish by little things, please either don't read this chapter or read with caution. Thank you and enjoy :)*

I sat in the nurses' staff-room, my coffee in front of me on the coffee table as I looked at my patient files for the day. I shook my head and sighed, the paperwork alone telling me that I was in store for a very long shift.

"Nurse Y/N Y/L/N to the front desk, please. Tom is here to see you." Katie's voice spoke up over the intercom. My eyebrows furrowed and I looked up at it, the other nurses looking equally as confused as they looked at me.

"It's only the start of your shift, what's Tom doing here?" Simon chuckled.

"Guess that I have to go and find out. I probably forgot something at home." I shrugged as I stood up and headed out of the staff-room. I bit my lip as I walked along the pristine hospital corridors, my mind wandering as I tried to figure out what my boyfriend of four years was doing here, at the start of my shift. I approached the reception of our ward, making Tom look up at me as he stood there.

"Hey, sweetheart." he smiled as his hand cupped my waist and he leant down to kiss me.

"Hey." I chuckled, my mind still at a loss as to why he was here as I returned the kiss. Tom and I had met six years ago for the first time, when he had come into the hospital with a broken leg. There had been an instant connection between us, and ever since that first time, Tom had been a frequent visitor of the hospital, whether that was for injuries of his own, or whether that was to play 'Spider-Man' for the children that lived here. In fact, I could remember each time like they had happened yesterday. And each memory was absolutely golden to me.

I stood at the reception of our ward, talking to Katie and sorting out my paperwork as I hung around waiting for something to happen.

"So, did you do anything fun over the weekend?" Katie asked as she sipped her coffee.

"I mean, I went out with my girlfriends from uni, but nothing really happened. Everyone who tried to pull me, I didn't want, and everyone worth pulling didn't want me." I chuckled and shook my head.

"Girl, come on. You've been single for almost a year now, get yourself on Tinder or something. You need to get back out there." she scoffed.

"I know that I do, and I'm trying, but it seems like the standard of guy that I'm interested in, isn't interested in me back." I sighed.

"Hey, don't put yourself down like that. There'll be a ten out of ten guy who will come along and you'll be the perfect girl for him." she reassured. I chuckled and shook my head at her.

"I feel like that's very wishful thinking, but thanks anyway for the confidence. I appreciate it." I smiled, making her return it and give me a sympathetic look.

"Y/N." I looked up as our team supervisor walked towards me with a new file in her hands.

"I have a new case for you who's just come in. Twenty-five-year-old white male who has come in with a suspected broken leg." she nodded.

"No problem. Do we have a name for him?" I asked as Katie raised her cup of coffee to her lips again. My supervisor nodded as she opened the file and scanned her eyes over the page.

"Um...yes, Tom Holland-." my eyes widened, Katie choking on her coffee as my supervisor said those words. I stared at her, my heart suddenly speeding up. Surely she couldn't mean the Tom Holland. I knew that we were in London, but there were a dozen hospitals between us and Kingston, so surely the world-famous and very attractive actor wouldn't come here to be treated.

"Sorry, do you mean the Tom Holland?" I gulped.

"Someone did mention him being a famous actor or something. I don't know, I don't watch movies." she shrugged. I looked at Katie, her returning the glance with equally wide eyes.

"Go, go! Take it before she can give it to someone else! He could be your ten out of ten!" she exclaimed, making me laugh and shake my head as I took the file from my supervisor.

"I've got him." I nodded.

"Room thirteen. Remember to be professional!" she called after me as I rushed to the room.

"Always am!" I yelled back. I approached room thirteen, my heart almost pounding out of my chest as I got to the closed door. I was really about to meet Tom Holland, the one celebrity that I had a major crush on. I couldn't believe it. I took a deep breath, knowing that I had to remain professional as I opened the door and walked in. My heart almost stopped, the eyes of both Tom Holland and the boy who I recognised to be Harrison Osterfield flicking up to me as I walked in. Tom's face seemed to soften as he saw me, a small smile adorning his features as his eyes flicked up and down my scrubs. But I tried to ignore the look that was making butterflies explode in my stomach.

"Sorry for the wait, Mr Holland, we're so full already today." I chuckled and desperately tried to keep my cool as I shut the door behind me.

"It's okay, they gave me something for the pain when I got here, so I've kind of just been chilling." he shrugged and looked at his best mate from the bed, the boy chuckling and shaking his head as he stood by the wall.

"So, you're in today for a suspected broken leg?" I asked, though I could already tell that it was broken as I looked at the stretched out limb on the bed with the trouser leg rolled up. The limb that was currently about ten shades darker than the rest of Tom, and was covered in black and blue bruises. It was definitely broken.

"Um, yeah. I was messing about with my brothers at home in the garden. Did a back-flip and landed badly on my leg. Knew immediately that something was wrong." he nodded as he gently scratched at his earlobe. I returned the nod and put his file down on the bed before looking at him.

"I'm going to have to feel your leg so that I know what we're dealing with. Is that okay?" I checked.

"It's going to really hurt, isn't it?" he sighed. I nodded and bit my lip, making him groan and throw his head back as he leant his hand up to grip the headboard.

"Do what you have to do." he gulped. I returned his sigh, feeling really sorry for the boy as I gently put my hands on his leg. I started to feel around the skin, his arm immediately tensing as he grabbed the headboard.

"Fucking hell, that really hurts." he choked.

"I know, I'm sorry, Mr Holland." I mumbled as I continued to feel around his skin.

"You can call me Tom, it's okay." he reassured. I looked at him and gave him a small smile, him returning the look softly.

"Sometimes talking can help distract patients from the pain, so let's talk. What did you say that you do for a living?" I asked. His eyebrows furrowed, his mouth forming into an 'o' in confusion as he looked up at Harrison. The boy just shrugged, making Tom look back at me.

"U-um...well, I didn't, but I assumed that you'd recognise me-."

"I'm just messing with you. Of course I know who you are." I smiled. His lips broke into a smile, a laugh leaving his lips as he shook his head.

"You're funny, love." he returned my smile.

"Thank you, Tom. From what I've seen of you, so are you." I chuckled as I let go of his leg and picked up his file again. His eyes widened slightly.

"What, that's it?" he asked.

"That's it. I told you that talking could help. In some cases, laughter and joking really are the best medicine." I shrugged, making him smile and bite his lip at me.

"I'm going to send you for an x-ray, because your leg is definitely broken, but we need to determine if it's just one breakage or multiple. Then we'll get you into a cast, which you'll wear for at least a month. You'll come back here after each month to change it and see how your leg is doing. At most, it'll be three months in the cast." I nodded as I stood at the end of the bed and held the file into my chest.

"Will those appointments be with you?" he asked hopefully. My eyes widened slightly, my heart leaping in my chest at his hopeful tone. Was Tom Holland asking if he could see me again? Even if it was just for another appointment? I swore that I was in heaven right now. And maybe Katie hadn't been so wrong after all about him having been my ten out of ten.

"You can request to be seen by a specific nurse, yes." I nodded.

"I'm going to need your name if I'm going to request you." he smiled. I chuckled and bit my lip as I looked down, all of the heat in my body rushing to my cheeks at his subtle flirting. I looked back at him.

"My name is Nurse Y/N Y/L/N. You can request me for each appointment." I replied.

"Alright then. Nurse Y/N Y/L/N." he repeated, making me smile and nod.

"I'll get you scheduled for that x-ray. Let me know if you need anything." I spoke as I opened the door.

"Will do, love. Thank you." he smiled, making me return it as I left the room and shut the door. My eyes widened, a breathless laugh leaving my lips as I just stood there. I had just been actively flirted with by Tom Holland.

"Oh my god." I smirked and shook my head, my heart doing flips in my chest as I tried to recompose myself before going back to reception.

Tom's P.O.V

"Alright then. Nurse Y/N Y/L/N." Tom repeated Y/N's name back to her, making her smile and nod.

"I'll get you scheduled for that x-ray. Let me know if you need anything." the beautiful girl spoke as she opened the door.

"Will do, love. Thank you." he smiled, making her return it as she left the room and shut the door. Tom released a breath that he didn't realise that he'd been holding, his entire being having just been absolutely blown away by that nurse. The moment that she had walked into the room, he had been gobsmacked by how beautiful she was, and that apparently came with a kind, caring, and funny personality. Tom could already feel himself falling in love with her.

"That's my future wife right there, Haz." he nodded as he looked at his best friend. Harrison's eyes widened.

"What?! You can't be serious! You met her for five minutes, and for most of those five minutes, she was poking around your unnaturally coloured leg!" he laughed, making Tom return it with a shake of his head.

"I can't explain it, Haz. I just...I felt something as soon as she walked into the room. My heart leapt, I felt butterflies, and that only got stronger the longer that she was in here for. Maybe I am being a little bit fast, but I know that every time that I come here from now on, I'm requesting her. I want to get to know her more." he nodded.

"I hate to burst your bubble, mate, but you're probably nothing more than a patient to her." he sighed.

"Well, we'll see, won't we? When I propose to her in five years, I get to say that I told you so." he teased.

"Deal." Harrison nodded, making Tom chuckle and shake his head as he let his mind wander. And all he could think about was Y/N.

Harrison had been wrong. From the moment that we'd met, Tom had been so much more than just a patient to me, and I'd been so much more than just a nurse to him. His leg cast had come off after two months, with both appointments being with me since he'd requested to see me. He'd been in regularly ever since, our appointments getting more intimate over the years. Then all had changed when he'd come in with his broken nose, and we'd gone from having a professional relationship, to having a real one.

I opened the suite door and immediately sighed, making Tom look up at me.

"Hey, sweetheart." he chuckled, but his words were slightly muffled by the piece of tissue that was being used to catch the blood streaming from his nose.

"What did you do this time, Tommy?" I returned his chuckle as I shut the door and headed towards where he was sitting on the bed.

"I know that you won't believe this one, but this time it wasn't me. I was playing with Tessa and she got a little too excited. She ran at me and basically ran into my face. Right into my nose." he nodded.

"She's a heavy dog too, I'm not surprised that she broke your nose." I sighed as he lowered the tissue and I held his face so that I could get a better look at his nose. I gulped and tried to ignore how Tom was looking at me, though it was getting harder with each visit. Because after two years of having treated him, I was deeply in love with him, and occasionally allowed myself to think that he felt the same. After all, he had requested me on every visit to the hospital since we'd met, and he always looked at me with that little glint in his eyes.

"Tommy, shit, I'm going to have to set it back in place. It's going to hurt." I sighed.

"I know, I've been here a million times before. Just do it, love, it's okay." he returned my sigh. I gave him a small smile and nodded, always hating that I put Tom in pain as I held his face. I put my fingers to his nose but my eyebrows furrowed as I quickly worked out that I couldn't find the right angle to set his nose back at. And if I couldn't do the right angle, I would cause him a lot more pain than was necessary.

"Tommy, I know that this is so unprofessional, so don't tell my supervisor, but bear with me." I sighed as I climbed onto the bed and straddled his lap. His eyes widened at my action, but his hands immediately cupping my waist told me that he was okay with it.

"Wow, okay. Don't worry, your supervisor won't find out. Wouldn't want to get you into trouble for something that I like you doing." he flirted. I playfully rolled my eyes and shook my head, making him smirk at me as I re-positioned my fingers on his nose.

"You ready, Tommy?" I checked.

"Yup." he nodded, his hands tightening on my waist as he got ready for the pain.

"Three, two-." I quickly snapped his nose back into place, a yell of pain leaving his lips as I did.

"Jesus, what happened to 'one'?" he groaned, his eyes squeezing shut as he held his nose.

"It's better for it to be a surprise." I chuckled and bit my lip. He returned it and nodded as his eyes opened to look at me.

"I think that I have a better surprise." he mumbled. My eyebrows furrowed.

"What?" I asked. His gaze flicked between my eyes and my lips, making my smile dip as he raised his hand to cup my cheek. He leant up and gently pressed our lips together, my eyes fluttering shut as I returned it. I raised my hands to hold his face, his hands holding my waist and pulling me more onto his lap as we kissed. I broke the kiss and looked at him, making his eyes flutter open.

"What's wrong, darling?" he asked gently as he raised his hand and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. I bit my lip and looked at him.

"I can't be your nurse anymore. I've been waiting two years for that kiss, I loved it, but if we're going to do this, I can't be your nurse anymore. I'd be sacked if they knew that I'd crossed from a professional relationship to a romantic one with you." I gulped.

"Hey, that's okay, it's fine. I'll ask to be moved to a different nurse, then. I'd much rather have you as my girlfriend than as my nurse. That is, if you'll have me as your boyfriend." he nodded. I bit my lip, a smile curling onto my lips as I looked at him.

"Are you asking me out, Tommy?" I chuckled.

"Yes. Yes, I am." he smiled. I returned it and bit my lip.

"I'd love to be your girlfriend." I nodded, making him return it and smile as he leant up and kissed me again.

So, that's how we'd ended up here. After we had kissed four years ago, Tom had put in a request to be transferred to another nurse. It had been accepted, meaning that we could start our romantic relationship without risk of me being sacked. I snapped out of my thoughts, only just realising that I still didn't know why he was here.

"Tommy, as much as I love seeing you at work, what are you doing here? My shift has only just started." I chuckled and shook my head as I rested my hand on his chest.

"I wanted to talk to you about something. Your supervisor said that I could have ten minutes with you where your shift could be covered by other nurses. Which might I add, we're already two minutes into, so let's go." he chuckled as he took my hand. My eyebrows furrowed as he started to pull me towards an empty suite.

"Tommy, wait, I have to get back to work." I sighed. He turned to face me, making me bite my lip as he took my hands into his.

"Give me that eight minutes. Please, love, I swear that you won't regret it." he shook his head. I sighed again and nodded, making him lean in and peck my lips before opening the door. I walked in and immediately my eyes widened. A gasp left my lips as I looked at the four walls of the room that were completely covered with photos of Tom and I from the last four years. Everything from our first date together, to the dinner that he introduced me to his family at, to even selfies that we took last week. There was everything. I bit my lip, tears pricking my eyes at the memories that I held close to my heart. Even more tears threatened to fall as I thought about why he'd done this. And I could only think of one reason. I turned around, my suspicions being confirmed as Tom was already down on one knee, his shaking hands holding open the blue velvet box to reveal an absolutely gorgeous engagement ring.

"Tommy, oh my god." I choked as I raised my also shaking hands to cover my mouth. He nodded and gave me a nervous smile as he looked at me with glossy eyes.

"From the moment that you walked into that hospital room six years ago, I just knew that you were it for me, love. Harrison thought that I was absolutely crazy considering that we'd known each other for five minutes and you spent that time poking my unnaturally coloured leg, as he so kindly put it." he nodded, making me laugh and bite my lip as the tears started to leave my eyes.

"But I just knew. And the fact that you were the one got backed up every time that I came back here. You always looked absolutely beautiful, you were always so kind and caring, you always distracted me from the pain that I was in by talking to me and making me laugh. I've never had a dull moment with you, not when you were my nurse or when you've been my girlfriend. And I'm ready to spend the rest of my life without a dull moment, with you. So, Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N, will you marry me?" he gulped.

"Oh my god, Tommy, yes, of course!" I cried. He choked, his eyes wavering as he shot up and tightly hugged me. I returned it, my tears going into his shirt as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and held onto him for dear life. I pulled away to take his face into my hands before smashing our lips together, him returning it without hesitation as he held my waist.

"Hopefully it fits." he smiled as he broke the kiss, making me laugh and nod as he gently took it out of the box and slid it onto my trembling finger. I bit my lip and looked at him.

"I love you so much, Tommy. So fucking much." I choked and shook my head.

"I love you too, darling." he nodded before leaning down and kissing me again. I returned it, my eyes fluttering shut as I held his face.

"WOO!" We broke the kiss and looked to the door, laughs leaving our lips as we saw all of the other staff for the ward at the open door.

"I told you that he'd be your ten out of ten!" Katie exclaimed, making me laugh and shake my head as Tom pulled me into his side and kissed my head.
