The honeymoon phase (Tom Holland)
Requested by mrsholland199601: Tom and Y/N go to the Kruger National Park. They go on a plane ride, they see rare animals on the game drive and just have a nice time together.
Tom and I sat in the back of the car, his hand on my thigh as we got driven to our bungalow. Tom and I had been together for six months now, and for our anniversary, Tom had surprised me with a week away to the amazing Kruger National Park in South Africa. It was going to be a week of beautiful landscapes, stunning animals and just spending a lovely break together. Tom looked at me.
"You okay, darling?" He asked.
"Are you joking? I'm amazing. I just can't believe that we're actually here. I can't believe that you did this, especially for only our six-month anniversary. What are you going to pull out for our year anniversary?" I scoffed, making him laugh and gently squeeze my thigh.
"I'll have the engagement ring by then." He teased. I playfully rolled my eyes and lightly slapped his chest, making him smirk and bite his lip.
"In all seriousness, it's okay. I don't care if it's only our six-month anniversary, that's still amazing to me. If I could, I'd celebrate every second spent with you." He shook his head. I bit my lip at him.
"That's really sweet, Tommy. Really sweet." I nodded, tears pricking my eyes at how in love with this boy I was. He smiled and bit his lip as he leant in and gently kissed me. I returned the kiss, my lips smiling against his as I curled my hand around his neck to pull him closer.
"Mr Holland, we're here." The driver spoke, making us break the kiss.
"Thanks, mate." Tom chuckled as we looked out of the window. My eyes widened.
"Oh my god." I breathed, making Tom chuckle and kiss my head as we drove up the road and approached the absolutely gorgeous bungalow that we were staying in.
"This is going to be a good week." He nodded, making me return it and smile as I kissed him again.
"Tommy, I need to see!" I laughed as Tom gently walked me along with his hands over my eyes. As part of our trip, he had planned all of the activities for us to do as well, but he had been adamant that he wanted the first one to be a surprise.
"Sorry, love, but don't worry, I have you, I promise." He chuckled into my ear, his lips pressing to my cheek before he stopped me in my tracks.
"Okay, and...open." He moved his hands, allowing my eyes to open. They widened as I saw the small three-person plane in front of us.
"Oh my god, you didn't!" I squealed, making him laugh as I turned around and hugged him tightly.
"I know that you've always wanted to go on this type of plane ride, so I figured that it'd be a really cool first activity of the trip." He spoke into my hair.
"You really are the perfect boyfriend, aren't you, Tommy?" I chuckled as I pulled away but only enough to look at him as his hands stayed on my waist.
"Your words, sweetheart, not mine." he teased. I laughed and shook my head before turning and running towards the plane. I gave the pilot a smile of thanks as he extended his hand to me and helped me into the plane. I sat down, Tom climbing up and sitting behind me as we put the headsets on that we needed to communicate with each other.
"You ready, darling?" Tom spoke as his arms curled around my waist.
"Let's do this." I smiled. He returned it and kissed my cheek as the engine started, the propellers quickly spinning so fast that we couldn't see them move as the plane started to be driven forward. I cheered as the plane took off from the ground and we started to fly, making Tom laugh and shake his head at my reaction.
"This is amazing!" I squealed as soon enough, we were flying over the stunning plains of Africa.
"Isn't it? The view is exceptional." Tom smiled as we looked out of the windows and down below onto the yellow land and the animals that inhabited it.
"You guys want to do a flip in the plane?" the pilot asked.
"Fuck yes!" I exclaimed. Tom laughed and shook his head again, making me smile as his arms pulled me closer and allowed me to rest against him.
"Here we go." The pilot spoke as the nose of the plane started to go higher.
"Woo!" Tom cheered, laughs and squeals leaving my lips and my hair standing up briefly from the gravity change as the pilot started to flip the plane. The landscape tipped, the dusty land below now on top of the gorgeous blue sky as the pilot held us upside down for a second as he turned the plane back around.
"This is amazing. Thank you so much, Tommy!" I smiled over my shoulder at him.
"Anything for you, love." he returned, making me bite my lip and sigh out in bliss as I rested my head against his chest.
"Babe, we can't be late for this!" Tom called out, him standing at the open door of our bungalow as I rushed around to grab the stuff that I needed for the game drive that we were going on. The entire week had been nothing short of perfect and Tom had truly pulled out all of the stops. We'd had romantic candle-lit dinners, visits to the most beautiful places in the area and for our last day, he had booked for us to go on a game drive. To say that I was majorly excited was an understatement.
"I'm coming, I'm coming." I chuckled, Tom playfully rolling his eyes at me as I rushed out the door.
"See? Perfect timing." I teased as the safari car pulled up to our road.
"As always." he smiled, making me chuckle and shake my head as we got into the car.
Tom and I sat in the back of the safari car, his arm curled around my waist and his other hand on my thigh as we drove over the plains of Africa. I sighed in bliss and bit my lip, my heart and mind completely contempt with being sat in my boyfriend's arms as the hot sun beat down on us. My eyes widened and I sat up in the seat as I started to spot a pack of zebras in the distance.
"Tommy, look, oh my god!" I excitedly squealed as he sat up and looked at them too.
"My god, they're beautiful." he smiled and shook his head.
"Do you guys want to stop to take pictures?" the driver asked.
"Please." Tom nodded. The driver returned it, the car stopping fifty yards from the zebras so that we wouldn't scare them off. Tom grabbed the camera that he'd borrowed from Harry before slowly climbing out of the car. He crouched down slightly, his fingers fiddling with the lens so that the camera would zoom in. He snapped the picture before looking down at the small screen.
"Amazing." he smiled.
"Mr Holland...if you move very slowly...you might also be able to get a photo of the leopard that's on the other side of the car." the driver spoke quietly. My eyes widened, as did Tom's as we looked at each other.
"No way." Tom smiled, making me return it giddily as I slowly turned my head. Surely enough, a leopard could be seen about the same distance from us that the zebras were, making me breathe out. I had never imagined that I'd actually see such a beautiful animal in person, and so the fact that I'd seen it on the last day of the perfect break was incredible.
"How beautiful are you?" Tom cooed as he slowly walked around the car before crouching down again. He snapped the picture and looked at the screen.
"How amazing is that?" he smiled at me as he got back into the car.
"What a perfect way to end the perfect trip, huh." I returned it. He chuckled and nodded, making my smile widen as I leant in and gently kissed him.
"What a day, huh." I chuckled as Tom and I got back to our bungalow from the game drive and then dinner.
"I know. I can't think of a more perfect way to end the holiday than to actually see a leopard. Fucking hell." he smiled and shook his head as we headed through to the bedroom. I bit my lip and turned around to look at him, my arms curling over his shoulders as he put his hands on my waist.
"I know that I've said this a million times, but thank you so much for this trip, Tommy. It's been absolutely amazing, and I've loved every second of it." I smiled and shook my head, making him chuckle.
"Honestly, sweetheart, it was my pleasure. Even just six months is a big milestone when it comes to the girl that I love." he admitted. My eyes widened slightly, my breath hitching in my throat as he dropped the 'L' bomb. Something that he'd never dropped before with me.
"You...you love me?" I gulped. He sighed and bit his lip, the sheepish smile on his face telling me that he was nervous.
"Yeah, I do. And after the week that we've had together, not only has that love increased, but it felt like the right time to say it. It's completely okay if you're not there yet, don't feel like you have to say it just because I did, but that's how I feel, love." he confessed quietly. I bit my lip, tears pricking my eyes as I leant in and kissed him. He returned the kiss, our eyes fluttering shut as my fingers played with the hair at the nape of his neck. I broke the kiss and touched our foreheads, my eyes fluttering open to look into his stunning chocolate orbs.
"I'm glad that you said it. Because I love you too." I whispered. He breathed a sigh of relief, making me laugh and bite my lip.
"Thank god. Would have been a very awkward plane ride home tomorrow if otherwise." he teased. I smirked and shook my head, making him chuckle as I left his arms to get into my pyjamas.
"What time is your alarm set for tomorrow?" I asked as we started to get undressed.
"The flight is at eight, so four a.m." he nodded. I groaned loudly as we climbed into the bed.
"Why did you book it so early? I want sleep." I whined teasingly, making him chuckle as he lay down and his arm curled around my waist to pull me into him as I rested my head and hand on his chest.
"It was an evil ploy to make you fall asleep on me on the plane." he teased.
"I fall asleep on you anyway, you don't need a ploy to make me do that." I retorted.
"True." he chuckled and nodded, making me smile as my body started to relax against Tom's.
"I love you, darling." he mumbled quietly as his lips pressed to my head.
"I love you too, Tommy." I whispered, my eyes fluttering shut and my body falling asleep as I fell asleep happy in the arms of my amazing boyfriend.
