The guy at the bar *final part* (Mob boss!AU, Tom Holland)
My heart pounded harshly in my chest, the sound of my blood rushing through my ears deafening as I stood at the grand wooden doors. I breathed deeply, though the sharp intakes of air didn't help the feelings of nausea and butterflies in my stomach at what I was about to do. I was terrified, but I also couldn't wait. After all, I'd been waiting almost three years now for this day, and it was finally here.
My eyes fluttered open, my lips breaking into a yawn as my body started to be pulled out of the grasp of sleep. Sunlight streamed into mine and Tom's room, the heat gently warming my naked skin that wasn't covered by our bed sheets. I looked down and couldn't help but smile as my husband's arm was wrapped tightly around my waist to hold my naked back against his also bare chest. I looked over my shoulder and chuckled as the boy was still fast asleep, his hair messy and his eyes still closed as quiet snores left his lips. It had been exactly a year since I had been forced to marry Tom, making it my nineteenth birthday. But I already knew that it would be vastly different from my eighteenth. For starters, I wouldn't be miserable today. Whilst Tom and I had understandably gotten off to a rocky start, things had improved soon enough between us as we sunk into married life. It had taken us a few weeks to start seeing each other as more than just friends, with the only touches being exchanged between us being little pecks and the occasional cuddle when we'd watch TV. Our relationship had turned sexual again a couple of months in, and ever since then we'd been on the up. Now you wouldn't even be able to tell that we hadn't wanted this originally, our cute date nights and loving touches making us look like we'd been in love all along. I was beyond grateful for the fact that things had improved between us, after all both of us would have been miserable for the rest of our lives had the original condition of our relationship prevailed. We had fallen utterly in love since having met originally, and I wouldn't have changed a bit about it. The only thing that I had wished had been different was that we'd had an actual wedding. I'd dreamt of my perfect wedding since I was a child, and so to have that taken away from me had been heart-wrenching at the time. Tom's father had said that it could be arranged, but that had never ended up happening. Not that it mattered now. I snapped back as I heard Tom start to stir, quiet groans leaving my husband's lips as his eyes fluttered open. They blinked in the light and squinted slightly before looking at me.
"Morning, love. Happy birthday." he gave me a small smile, his raspy morning voice like music to my ears.
"Thank you, Tommy." I giggled as I lay back down next to him and he curled his arm over my waist to pull me closer.
"Remind me what the plans are again?" he asked.
"I'm meeting with Becky, Leanne and Jessie for shopping, having lunch with mum and dad, and then back here for our dinner tonight." I nodded.
"And if you're lucky, maybe some desert after dinner." he smirked, making me laugh as he rolled on top of me and leant down to start kissing my neck.
"Tommy, you know that you're willing to fuck me whenever, I don't need to be lucky for us to do that." I teased.
"Very true." he chuckled as he rolled back off of me and allowed me to sit up. I looked over my shoulder at him.
"No present yet?" I fake-pouted.
"Patience, sweetheart, you're getting it at dinner." he nodded.
"I look forward to dinner, then." I smiled, making him smirk and shake his head as I stood from the bed and started to get dressed.
Tom's P.O.V
Tom started to stir, quiet groans leaving his lips as his eyes fluttered open. They blinked in the light and squinted slightly before looking at Y/N.
"Morning, love. Happy birthday." he gave her a small smile, his heart full at the fact that he got to wake up to her stunning face every morning. It wasn't a secret that the couple's relationship had had a rough start, but now he couldn't be more in love with her if he tried. Everything that she did was perfect to him, whether it was the way that she danced to music when she cooked, or the way that she'd laugh at Tom's jokes even if they weren't funny, or literally anything else that she did. He was utterly in love with all of her. He knew that she had fallen for him too, but he was also aware of the fact that it had always upset her slightly that they'd never had a proper wedding. And so, that was why for her nineteenth birthday, he was going to end the day by proposing to her. He just hoped that she'd say yes.
"Thank you, Tommy." She giggled as she lay back down next to him and he curled his arm over her waist to pull her closer.
"Remind me what the plans are again?" he asked, his mind hoping that the plans hadn't changed and therefore that she'd be out long enough for him to set up what he had figured out.
"I'm meeting with Becky, Leanne and Jessie for shopping, having lunch with mum and dad, and then back here for our dinner tonight." She nodded.
"And if you're lucky, maybe some desert after dinner." he smirked, making her laugh as he rolled on top of her and leant down to start kissing her neck.
"Tommy, you know that you're willing to fuck me whenever, I don't need to be lucky for us to do that." She teased.
"Very true." he chuckled as he rolled back off of her and allowed her to sit up. She looked over her shoulder at him.
"No present yet?" She fake-pouted.
"Patience, sweetheart, you're getting it at dinner." he nodded as he tried not to give away the surprise.
"I look forward to dinner, then." She smiled, making him smirk and shake his head as she stood from the bed and started to get dressed. Tom watched patiently as she got dressed and grabbed her bag before looking at him.
"I'll see you tonight, Tommy. Love you." she spoke as she started to leave the room.
"Love you too, darling, have a good day!" he called after her. He stayed in bed, his eyes staring at the door as he waited for the sound that signified the door shutting. When it eventually sounded, he shot up and grabbed his phone before scrolling through his contacts. He held the phone to his ear.
"Haz, hey, she's gone. Let's do this." he smiled to himself before hanging up.
Y/N's P.O.V
"I'm home!" I called out, a sigh of relief leaving my lips as I shut the front door. It had been a really good day, but had been a long one, and so I was just excited to have dinner with Tom and then relax with him in front of the TV. My eyebrows furrowed as I didn't get a response.
"Tommy?" I called again as I turned around. My eyes widened, a gasp leaving my lips as I saw the state of the apartment. No lights were on, the soft glow in the room being created solely by what must have been hundreds of candles. I gulped, my heart starting to pound more harshly as I saw the trail of rose petals that seemingly led into the kitchen. If this was what I thought it was, this was about to become my best birthday ever.
"Babe?" I yelled out, my heels clicking against the wooden floor as I started to follow the rose petals into the kitchen and dining room. I pushed the door open, tears pricking my eyes at the sight of the rose petals leading to our dining table. Our dining table that was laid out with plates of gorgeous-looking food. But it wasn't the food that I was interested in. Tom stood in front of the table, a smile on his lips as he stood there in the suit that he'd been wearing on the night that we'd first met. I returned his smile and walked towards him, my heart almost pounding out of my chest.
"Tommy, this is amazing, thank you so much for doing all of this." I choked, making him chuckle as I tightly wrapped my arms around his neck and his arms curled around my waist.
"Of course, darling. It's your first real birthday with me, so I knew that I had to pull out all of the stops. Including your present too." he nodded. I bit my lip, tears starting to leave my eyes as he pulled away and took something out of his pocket before getting down onto one knee in front of me. I couldn't help but smile, my heart filling with love for this man as he opened the box to reveal a stunning engagement ring.
"I know that we're already married, sweetheart, and that we have been for a year. But let's just admit it, we didn't do it right. At all. I know that that wasn't our fault, but you never got a wedding, you never even got a proposal. We're happy now, and I'm so glad that we did end up falling for each other, but I think that what we need to complete this is a real wedding. And I want to give that to you. So, Y/N Y/M/N Holland, will you marry me again and become Mrs Holland again?" he smiled, making me laugh and cover my mouth with my shaking hands.
"I would love to, Tommy. Yes, god, yes!" I laughed. He returned it and shot to his feet, my hands finding his face as he leant down and passionately kissed me. I returned it, his hands curling around my waist and pulling me into his body as we kissed. He broke it and touched our foreheads, shit-eating grins plastered to both of our faces as we held each other.
"I love you, sweetheart. And I want to do this right this time." he nodded.
"I love you too, Tommy. I can't wait." I whispered. He smiled and bit his lip, making me giggle as he leant down and kissed me again.
So, that was how I'd ended up here. Stood at the massive doors of the church, my body clad in a beautiful white dress and a flowing veil in my hair as I waited to marry the love of my life. Tom had proposed to me a year and a half ago, and I had waited every day for us to get to the actual moment. And now, I was only seconds away from it. I gave my dad a small smile as he took my arm, my heart jumping in excitement as the doors to the church opened. Everyone looked at me and stood up as I started to walk down the aisle to the music. But all I was focused on was Tom. He had the biggest smile that I'd ever seen on his face, tears pricking my eyes as his gaze was glued to me. He looked even better than the day that we'd met, his body clad in an all-black suit and a white shirt with a flower on his jacket to match my bouquet. He looked perfect. We continued to walk down the aisle, my heartbeat almost deafening me as we reached the altar. My dad turned to me and kissed my cheek before taking my flowers as I turned to look at Tom.
"You look absolutely stunning, love. I can't believe how gorgeous you look. And I can't believe how excited I am to marry you, even if it is for a second time." he smiled, making me laugh and shake my head.
"I can't wait any longer either, Tommy. Let's finally do this." I nodded. He returned it and leant down to gently peck my lips, making me return his smile and the kiss as we both turned to the priest.
"Tommy, be careful!" I laughed, my husband returning it as he carried me bridal style into the hotel room.
"I've got you, darling, I'd never drop you." he smiled.
"You better not, you're not getting any tonight if you drop me." I warned.
"Ooh, don't make promises that you can't keep, sweetheart." he teased, making me squeal and laugh as he threw me onto the bed before crawling over me. Giggles left my lips, making him look down at me with a smile as he lay on top of me.
"I'm so glad that this happened, love. I know that our relationship didn't start the way that we'd wanted it to, but I'm so fucking happy. I'm so happy that we got married, I'm so happy that you were the girl picked. I'm so deeply in love with you that I can't even imagine life without you now, not that I want to. I love you so much, and I wouldn't change our situation for the world." he mumbled, his head shaking and his hand gently stroking my hair as he looked down at me with love in his eyes. I smiled and bit my lip as I desperately tried not to cry at his sweet words.
"I feel the same way, Tom. Every day that we've been together has been better than the last. I was honestly terrified at the start that we wouldn't fall in love, but we did and I'm grateful for that every day. I love you, Tommy. So fucking much." I choked. He gave me a small smile, making me return it as he leant down and kissed me. I returned the action, my hands curling around his neck to pull him closer as his hands on the bed either side of my body held him up on top of me.
"Now...let's consummate this marriage." he mumbled against my lips, making me laugh and jokingly slap his chest as he broke the kiss and moved his lips down to my neck.
