Sweet boy (Tom Holland)

Requested by sweetvughead: Y/N is friends with Harry and Sam, but doesn't really get along with Tom. They don't hate each other but they're also not fond of each other and so they rarely talk. One day, Y/N turns up at the house crying, but Tom is the only one in. When he sees how upset she is, he invites her in, tries to calm her down and tries to get her to talk about why she's upset.

"Every time that we go out, we tell you not to wear heels because we know that you'll not have them on by the end of the night. And every time, you insist that you'll be fine, but then one of us ends up carrying you home." Sam scoffed. I chuckled at him as he carried me on his back and Harry walked alongside us as we headed back to their house after what had been a relatively uneventful night out.

"Don't blame me, both of you have the free will to say no. Maybe you just love me too much to turn me down." I teased, Sam scrunching his face up as I playfully pinched his cheek.

"Damn, Y/N, you caught us." Harry continued, making all three of us laugh as we continued back to their house. I had known Harry and Sam Holland since primary school, where I had met the twins and the three of us had just clicked instantly. We did everything together, everything from hanging out, to partying, to even going to the same uni, just on different courses. I loved them like they were my brothers, and they loved me like a sister. There was only one problem in our otherwise perfect friendship. And that was their older brother, Tom. It was a shame because their twenty-four-year-old brother had always been extremely attractive, even more so when he had gotten his breakthrough role of 'Spider-Man'. But for some reason that I'd never been able to pinpoint, we just didn't get on. Since I was around there so often, we naturally saw a lot of each other, but it never ended well. At best, we'd ignore each other's presence. At worst, we'd end up fighting and yelling at each other because of something that one of us had said. It wasn't great, especially as I would admit to having a small crush on the older boy, but there was no way that I'd ever be able to pursue it. Not with the amount that he disliked me in return. I snapped out of my thoughts as we reached Harry and Sam's house, Sam gently dropping me as Harry unlocked the front door.

"Hello?! Anyone still up?" he yelled into the house as we all clambered in.

"Just me!" I sighed, my eyes closing in exacerbation as Tom's voice sounded from the living room. I opened my eyes again to see both twins looking at me.

"Behave." Harry warned. I rolled my eyes and nodded as I followed them into their living room. Tom came into view, his smile also dipping as he saw me.

"Oh. Didn't realise that you were bringing the she-devil back with you." he scoffed.

"Nice to see you too, Tommy." I mumbled as I shrugged my jacket off.

"How many times have I told you not to call me that?" he grumbled as he stood up.

"Enough for me to know that you really don't like it. Hence why I keep doing it." I smiled sarcastically. He clenched his jaw and shook his head as he passed me, making me roll my eyes and try harshly not to blush at the proximity of our bodies in the second that he'd passed me.

"Tom, please just fuck off. We're going to have one more drink and then go to bed, we don't need it ruined by you arguing with our best mate." Sam sighed.

"Don't worry, you don't have to tell me twice to leave the room that has her in it. Don't really want to breathe the same air as her anyway." he retorted, making me glare at him as he left the room. I had to admit that it hurt that Tom and I were incapable of getting along. He was insanely attractive, and was lovely to people that he actually liked, so I had always wished to be one of those people. I never would be, though. I sighed and sat down next to Harry, my mind trying to rid myself of the thoughts as I tried to enjoy the rest of the night with my best mates.

Tom's P.O.V

Tom sat on the sofa, his fingers mindlessly scrolling through social media in an attempt to pass another half an hour before he called it a night. Suddenly, he heard the front door open, making him look up as the sound signified his twin brothers getting home from their night out.

"Hello?! Anyone still up?" he heard Harry yell.

"Just me!" Tom shouted back. He looked over the edge of the sofa, his heart leaping and his smile dipping as the twins walked into the room. Followed by their best friend, Y/N. Tom's younger brothers had been friends with the girl for as long as he could remember, she had always been around their house growing up. And it really sucked, because Tom thought that she was absolutely stunning, especially as she'd gotten older. The problem was that she really didn't like him. He had never been able to work out what it was with the pair of them, but they couldn't seem to be in the same room together for more than a matter of minutes before starting to fight. Tom would even wish sometimes that it would be a day where they ignored each other just so that they wouldn't have to fight. The boy had to admit that it did break his heart slightly, as he was aware of the ever-growing crush that he had on her, the feelings only made worse by the fact that she seemed to get even more beautiful every day. But he could never pursue it, and he knew that.

"Oh. Didn't realise that you were bringing the she-devil back with you." he scoffed.

"Nice to see you too, Tommy." She mumbled as she shrugged her jacket off. Tom's heart jumped again at the nickname, the sound spilling from Y/N's lips like honey to him. He loved the sound of her calling him by that name, but of course she couldn't know that.

"How many times have I told you not to call me that?" he grumbled as he stood up.

"Enough for me to know that you really don't like it. Hence why I keep doing it." She smiled sarcastically. He clenched his jaw and shook his head as he passed her, trying to act mad at the fact that she always called him that as he passed her.

"Tom, please just fuck off. We're going to have one more drink and then go to bed, we don't need it ruined by you arguing with our best mate." Sam sighed.

"Don't worry, you don't have to tell me twice to leave the room that has her in it. Don't really want to breathe the same air as her anyway." he retorted, making her glare at him as he left the room. He sighed out, his heart hurting slightly as he headed up the stairs and to his bedroom. He would give anything to rewind back to the day of meeting Y/N so that they never disliked each other in the first place, but he knew that that wasn't possible. Making her like him wasn't possible. And Tom had to live with that. Whether he wanted to, or not.

Y/N's P.O.V

Tears streamed down my face, my head pounding at how dehydrated I was as I rushed towards Harry and Sam's house. I'd just been told by a professor on my course that I was failing his module, and if I failed his module, I failed the year. This wasn't good. I choked to myself, my vision blurred by all of the tears in my eyes as I rushed up the steps to their house and pounded on the door. I fiddled with my fingers as I waited, my heart wanting nothing more than to just rant to my two best friends. The door opened, making me look back up at it. My eyes widened at who it was. Tom had the same reaction, his orbs widening as he saw me.

"Jesus, Y/N, are you okay? What happened?" he gulped, making me just stare at him as I tried to figure out what to say. All of the days for Tom to be utterly alone in the house out of his family of six, of course today, when I was sobbing and looked like shit, had to be that day.

"I, um...shit, are Harry and or Sam home?" I choked. He sighed, his eyes looking at me in a way that he'd never looked at me before. Almost as if he felt sorry for me, but not in one of those ways that made you want to punch the person for feeling bad for you. No. I could tell that he was genuinely upset for me, despite not even knowing why I was crying. Or maybe it was the fact that I had immediately wanted Harry or Sam over him. Though I couldn't think of why that would hurt him.

"I'm really sorry, Y/N, I'm the only one here. Harry and Sam are still at uni, they will be for another hour." he sighed sympathetically. I nodded and gulped harshly, my eyes wavering as I looked back down. I had already had a shitty day, and now I could also add the fact that my crush who hated me was seeing me so upset. Fucking brilliant.

"I, um, I...n-no, just, I don't know, just tell them that I dropped by, I guess." I choked, more tears leaving my eyes as the magnitude of my situation hit me again. Tom's face dropped again.

"Come on, you can talk to me, I can see that you're upset." he reasoned. I shook my head, my heart starting to pound again as my eyes wavered.

"I-I just can't believe that this happened, how did this happen?!" I cried, my hands starting to shake as my heart raced. Tom's eyes widened.

"Woah, okay, you're alright, come in, it's okay." he nodded as he gently put his hand on my lower back and led me into the house. He quickly shut the door before gently guiding me through to the living room, his hands gently holding my back and my arm as he walked me through.

"Sit down, love, I'll get you some water." he spoke as softly as he had just held me as he gently sat me down on the sofa before heading into the kitchen. I squeezed my eyes shut, more tears streaming down my face as I gripped my hands together. Tom appeared in front of me again, the sadness and worry laced into the boy's stunning eyes as he crouched down in front of me and put the water onto the coffee table.

"Come on, darling, take deep breaths, you're okay." he encouraged, his hands raising to cup my cheeks underneath my hair as he gently joined our foreheads. I closed my eyes and took deep breaths just like he'd instructed, his fingers gently massaging my skin as he helped guide my breathing. My heart started to slow down again, making me gulp as I opened my eyes to look at him.

"Why are you doing this for me? You could have just shut the door in my face." I choked. He sighed and gave me a small smile as he stood up and sat down next to me on the sofa before gently taking my hand into his.

"I know that we don't exactly get on, but I've known you for your whole life, and you're Harry and Sam's best mate. If you're upset, I'm going to help." he nodded. I gulped and returned it.

"Well, thank you. I appreciate it." I admitted quietly.

"It's okay, sweetheart. So, what's gone on?" he asked. I sighed and bit my lip.

"Basically, I've been bombing in this one module all semester. I didn't think that it was too big of a deal since it's only one module, so I figured that even if I failed this one, I'd pass the others and I'd be okay." I started to explain. Tom sighed, his face dropping slightly as he looked at me.

"It's not okay, is it?" he mumbled quietly. I bit my lip and shook my head.

"I just came from a meeting with my professor. I have the final assignment to pull my grade up and pass the module. If I don't pass it, I don't pass the year. Harry and Sam will move on to their last year and it'll be amazing, and I'll be stuck in this year. Fuck me, how did this happen?" I choked and shook my head as I looked down. Tom sighed and scooted slightly closer to me, our knees now touching as he gripped my hand.

"I'm really sorry, love. But to be honest, I have faith in you. You're, like, the smartest person that I know, and have ever known. If anyone can pass it, it's you." he nodded. My eyes widened slightly at his words as I looked back up at him.

"You really believe that, Tommy? You really think that I'm that smart?" I asked quietly. He bit his lip and nodded, his head rested against his propped up elbow as he looked at me.

"I do, sweetheart. You're amazing, and definitely intelligent enough to pull it back. You can do this." he reassured. I gave him a small smile, but my eyebrows furrowed as a question started to nag at my brain. A question that I didn't really want to risk ruining the mood with, but a question that I needed to know the answer to. And now felt like the right time.

"If I'm so amazing and intelligent, why have you never liked me?" I asked quietly. His eyes widened slightly and he sighed as he looked down.

"You want the truth, love?" he mumbled. My eyes widened slightly. Why wouldn't he tell me the truth?

"Of course I do, Tommy. I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want the truth." I scoffed.

"Good point." he chuckled before looking back up at me.

"I've never disliked you. To be honest, I can't even remember why we started fighting, ignoring each other and avoiding each other, but I know that I've hated every second of it. Because I actually really like you, and not just as a friend. I think that you're beautiful, kind, smart, amazing, intelligent, fucking everything positive to say, I can say about you. I get that you don't feel the same way, and that's fine, but you asked, and so now you know." he nodded. My eyes widened, my breath hitching at my throat at what he'd just confessed. And how casually he'd confessed to it too. All of this time, I had acted like I'd practically hated Tom because I thought that he'd hated me, when actually he'd been doing the same thing. What a pair of fucking idiots we were.

"Tom, I...I think the same thing. I only pretended to dislike you because I thought that you disliked me. I actually really like you, I have done for a long time. You're so kind and caring, funny, not to mention fucking hot, how could I not like you?" I scoffed. His eyes widened, his head raising from his hand to look at me properly.

"No...you're telling me that this whole time, we've liked each other, but thought that we disliked each other instead? Fucking hell, what happened there?" he chuckled and shook his head.

"I don't know." I laughed and returned the shake before just looking at him. He smiled and bit his lip at me, making my heart flutter at the look.

"What is it, Tommy? You're making me nervous." I admitted. He chuckled and shook his head as he sat forward again and took my other hand into his so that he was now holding both hands. He looked at me.

"Can I take you out sometime? I'd love to make this official." he nodded. I couldn't help but smile and bite my lip, my heart jumping at the idea that I had turned up at their house sobbing, and expecting to be turned away by Tom, only for him to become my new boyfriend by the end of my visit here.

"I'd love that, Tommy." I replied. He returned my smile, making me giggle as he leant in and gently pressed our lips together. I returned the kiss, my eyes fluttering shut and my hands raising to hold his face as his hands held my waist. He pulled me closer, making me smile into it as my hands curled around his neck to pull him closer too.

"What the fuck?!" We broke the kiss and looked over the edge of the sofa to see Harry and Sam staring at us with wide eyes.

"You two hated each other yesterday, now you're kissing?!" Sam exclaimed. I smiled sheepishly at Tom, making him chuckle and shake his head as he looked at the twins.

"Yeah, funny story. Turns out that this whole time, we actually liked each other, but since we thought that we hated each other, we kept that up. Y/N turned up to the house upset, we talked, admitted our feelings for each other, and now I'm taking her out on a date." he smiled, as if it was nothing. The twins looked at me.

"You were upset? You okay?" Harry asked.

"I am now, thanks. Tom sorted me out, I'm okay because of him." I admitted, making Tom give me a small smile as he leant in and pecked my cheek.

"Wow, that's going to take a while to get used to, but I'm happy for you guys. We've suspected for a while that you had a thing for Tom." Sam admitted with a chuckle as they put their bags down and sat on the other sofa. My eyes widened.

"And you didn't think to say anything?!" I exclaimed.

"In our defence, you two weren't the only ones who fully believed that you hated each other." Harry shrugged.

"It's okay, because everything is cleared up now. I'm going to take you out somewhere really nice, and we're going to have an amazing time." Tom smiled as he curled his arm around my waist.

"I can't wait, Tommy." I returned his smile, making him chuckle as he leant in and kissed me again.
