Photography lessons *part 1* (Tom Holland)
Requested by megholland: Y/N starts taking photography lessons from Nikki Holland when Tom is around nineteen. Tom notices her because she's really pretty and sweet. Nikki notices that Tom likes her and so pretends to need to go do something urgent, leaving the pair alone. Things are awkward until Harrison shows up and the three of them start joking around, during which time Tom realises that he really likes her.
*LMAO sorry in advance for how long this one-shot is, I got carried away lol. Anyway, enjoy :)*
My finger clicked the button, the camera's shutter setting off as I took the photo of the bowl of fruit that sat on the stool in Nikki's living room. I lowered the camera from my eye before looking at the screen.
"How's it looking?" Nikki smiled as she looked at the screen from over my shoulder.
"I'm happy with that." I nodded.
"You should be! That's a great photo!" She laughed, making me chuckle and bite my lip. I had started taking photography classes from a friend of my mum's, Nikki Holland. The Hollands were well known as a lovely family around Kingston, with Nikki being a well-established photographer and Dom being a well-known author and comedian. And then there was their oldest son, Tom. We were both nineteen but he had accomplished so much more than I had. He was a quickly rising name in Hollywood, and everyone knew that his fame was about to skyrocket due to the fact that he'd just been cast as "Spider-Man". To put it simply, he was amazing and I had a massive crush on him, despite the fact that I was nothing more than just another student of his mum's. So, it was safe to say that he'd never notice me as anything more than just that. I looked up, my heart jumping as Tom walked into the kitchen attached to the living room, his eyes glued to his phone as he took an apple from the bowl on the island and put it to his beautiful thin lips.
"Oh, honey." Nikki spoke up, making Tom look up at us. Our eyes widened slightly as we looked at each other, me gulping as Tom slowly took a bite of the apple.
"Yeah?" He asked cautiously.
"Come help us out, be a model for us." She nodded. My eyes widened further, as did his.
"Mum-."
"Yeah, Mrs Holland, it's okay." I chuckled nervously.
"No, no, it's alright. Tom, honey, you're fine to do some modelling, aren't you? Come on, sit down." She insisted. I gulped as Tom sighed and headed into the bit of the room that Nikki and I were in. He gave me a small smile, making me return it hesitantly as he moved the fruit bowl off of the stool before sitting down in its place.
"What position do you want me in?" He asked as he took another bite of his apple.
"Y/N's the artist, it's her call." Nikki smiled. My eyes widened further and I looked at her before gulping again.
"Right...okay." I mumbled and bit my lip as I looked at the attractive boy.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Y/N, I forgot that I have, um, errands to run. A very important errand." Nikki nodded. I looked back at her as Tom's eyes widened.
"Mum, what are you doing-."
"You two will be okay alone, won't you? I'll be only, what, half an hour?" She shrugged.
"Mrs Holland, are you sure that it can't wait?" I sighed.
"I'm sure, I'm so sorry. I'm happy to refund you some of your money for the half an hour that you'll miss, but take some photos of Tom, do what feels right, and I'll check them out when I'm back." She smiled as she grabbed her handbag.
"Right, okay, sure." I sighed again.
"See you kids in a bit!" She called, giving Tom one last look as she headed down the corridor and out of the house. I gulped, butterflies starting to flutter in my stomach as I looked back at Tom and gave him a small smile.
"Do you know what that was about?" I asked.
"Um...no, I have no idea. She literally hasn't mentioned errands until just then." He chuckled nervously, his finger wiping his eye as he looked down.
"Okay...well, are you still good to model for me?" I checked.
"Sure, I'm here now." He nodded and chuckled. I returned it and bit my lip as I looked at him again.
"Okay, let me think. Um...alright, lean forwards, rest your elbows on your knees, join your hands and look at me." I directed.
"Like this?" He asked, his stunning eyes looking up at me as he put the apple down on the floor beside the stool and got into that position.
"Perfect." I mumbled as I crouched down in front of him. Tom looked straight down the camera lens, my heart fluttering and jumping as I saw the stunning colour of his eyes through the shot. The sun was catching them in the most perfect way, the light reflecting off of them and making him look angelic. Fuck. I was in love with this boy. I snapped the photo and took the camera away from my face before looking down at the photo as I stood back up.
"Wow." I scoffed quietly, my eyes widening slightly at the simply gorgeous shot.
"Is it okay? Is something wrong with it?" Tom asked. I opened my mouth to speak, nothing coming out as I looked at the boy. He chuckled and bit his lip as he raised his eyebrow at me.
"N-no, nothing is wrong with it. It's just a beautiful shot." I admitted quietly. Tom's smile widened.
"Are you calling me beautiful, Y/N?" He teased. My eyes widened slightly, my cheeks heating up in a split second as they flushed red.
"U-um, n-no, I mean, yes-fuck, I mean-."
"Hello?! Anyone home?!" I breathed a sigh of relief as I heard Harrison's voice. Harrison was Tom's best mate, but I was also a decent friend of his from school. Tom looked around me and down the corridor.
"In here, mate!" Tom yelled back. I looked over my shoulder and smiled at Harrison as he walked in.
"Y/N, what are you doing here?" He chuckled, his eyes flicking to Tom slightly.
"I had a photography lesson with Nikki. But she had some errands to run, so she left me here to photograph Tom." I shrugged. Harrison nodded, a slight smirk curling onto his lips as he looked at Tom again.
"Yup. Sounds about right." He chuckled. My eyebrows furrowed.
"What do you mean?" I returned.
"Nothing, he means nothing. Don't worry about it." Tom shook his head. I squinted my eyes at them, still slightly suspicious of the boys but I shook it off as Harrison sat down at the island in the kitchen.
"So, how are things, Y/N?" He asked, Tom biting his lip and looking at me. I sighed and shrugged.
"Yeah, not much going on. Just trying to get through uni and photography class. Not like I'm a famous actor or model." I teased as I looked at Tom and then Harrison. The boys chuckled and looked at each other.
"Come on, Y/N, you could definitely be a model." Tom nodded.
"You think so?" I smiled.
"Oh, yeah. Give me the camera, I'll take some shots of you two." Harrison nodded as he jumped down from the stool. My eyes widened.
"I don't think so, Haz, this camera cost three grand." I scoffed.
"Harry's costs four and he trusts me with it daily. Don't worry, I know how to protect an expensive camera." He reassured. I sighed and bit my lip as I hesitantly gave it to him before heading to Tom.
"What should we do?" He asked.
"How about a fun one? I don't know, we can make it up as we go along." I shrugged. Tom nodded before curling his arm around my waist. My heart exploded into butterflies as he pulled me into his body and I looked up at him.
"Shit, sorry, um...is this okay?" He chuckled nervously.
"Y-yeah, of course." I smiled, making him return it as I leant back slightly but stayed hooked into his arm as I raised my fist to his jaw. He played along, scrunching his eye and face up and looking into the camera as I smiled at him.
"That's a sick shot, guys!" Harrison laughed as he took the photo before lowering the camera.
"It's because we have a sick model, Haz." Tom smiled as he looked at me, making me smirk and look down in an attempt to hide my blushing cheeks.
Tom's P.O.V
Tom wandered into the kitchen, his eyes glued to his phone as he took an apple from the bowl on the island.
"Oh, honey." His mum spoke up, making Tom look up. His eyes widened slightly as he saw Y/N, one of his mum's photography students. Though, he wished that she was more. From the moment that she had started coming to the house for lessons, Tom had fallen for her hard. She was everything that he loved in a person. She was beautiful, kind, caring, trustworthy, and the fact that he'd gotten that only from a few small conversations with the stunning girl told him that she really was that genuine. He loved it. Her eyes widened too as the pair looked at each other, Y/N gulping as Tom slowly took a bite of the apple.
"Yeah?" He asked cautiously.
"Come help us out, be a model for us." She nodded. Y/N's eyes widened further, as did Tom's. Why did he get the feeling that his mum had something up her sleeve? After all, he had no doubt that she'd noticed the longing gazes that he'd given the girl, and he was her son after all. She knew when he had a crush, especially if it was on one of her students.
"Mum-."
"Yeah, Mrs Holland, it's okay." Y/N chuckled nervously.
"No, no, it's okay. Tom, honey, you're fine to do some modelling, aren't you? Come on, sit down." She insisted. Y/N gulped as Tom sighed and headed into the bit of the room that they were in. He gave her a small smile, his heart almost pounding out of his chest from the anxiety of not knowing what shit his mum was about to pull. Y/N returned the smile as he moved the fruit bowl off of the stool before sitting down in its place.
"What position do you want me in?" He asked as he took another bite of his apple and tried not to focus on how good Y/N looked today. Her hair was tied back into a messy ponytail like it always was, presumably so that she could look into the camera without her hair getting in the way. She was wearing a pair of dungarees that sat over a baby pink crop top, making her look absolutely stunning. Tom was trying to act unbothered and cool about the girl's presence, but that was proving extremely hard right now.
"Y/N's the artist, it's her call." His mum smiled. Y/N eyes widened further and she looked at his mum before gulping again.
"Right...okay." she mumbled and bit her gorgeous lip as she looked at him.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Y/N, I forgot that I have, um, errands to run. A very important errand." His mum nodded. Y/N looked back at her as Tom's eyes widened. For fucks' sake, he thought. He fucking knew that she was trying to pull something. And apparently that "something" was trying to get them alone.
"Mum, what are you doing-."
"You two will be okay alone, won't you? I'll be only, what, half an hour?" She shrugged.
"Mrs Holland, are you sure that it can't wait?" Y/N sighed.
"I'm sure, I'm so sorry. I'm happy to refund you some of your money for the half an hour that you'll miss, but take some photos of Tom, do what feels right, and I'll check them out when I'm back." She smiled as she grabbed her handbag.
"Right, okay, sure." Y/N sighed again.
"See you kids in a bit!" She called, giving Tom one last look as she headed down the corridor and out of the house. Tom sighed and closed his eyes as his mum left. His heart started to pump harsher at the fact that he was now alone with his crush. If he wasn't literally in his parents' house, he'd be hoping that something would happen between them. Y/N gulped as she looked back at Tom and gave him a small smile.
"Do you know what that was about?" She asked. Yes, I know exactly what that was about, he thought.
"Um...no, I have no idea. She literally hasn't mentioned errands until just then." He chuckled nervously, his finger wiping his eye as he looked down. He had to continue to play it cool if he wanted a shot with the beautiful girl.
"Okay...well, are you still good to model for me?" She checked.
"Sure, I'm here now." He nodded and chuckled. She returned it and bit her lip as she looked at him again.
"Okay, let me think. Um...alright, lean forward, rest your elbows on your knees, join your hands and look at me." She directed.
"Like this?" He asked, his gaze looking up into her beautiful eyes as he put the apple down on the floor beside the stool and got into that position. He would happily sit there and just look into her eyes all day. That's how whipped he was.
"Perfect." She mumbled as she crouched down in front of him. Tom looked straight down the camera lens and tried to give Y/N the best shot that he could. Part of him even hoped that she was thinking that he looked good how he was right now. Y/N snapped the photo and took the camera away from her face before looking down at the photo as she stood up.
"Wow." She scoffed quietly, her eyes widening slightly. Tom gulped at her reaction. He had to continue to play it as if he wasn't bothered, even though his mind was now racing at the idea of it being a bad photo.
"Is it okay? Is something wrong with it?" Tom asked. She opened her mouth to speak, nothing coming out as she looked at the boy. He chuckled and bit his lip as he raised his eyebrow at her. Why was she this fucking cute?
"N-no, nothing is wrong with it. It's just a beautiful shot." She admitted quietly. Tom's smile widened. His crush had just complimented him. This was perfect.
"Are you calling me beautiful, Y/N?" He teased. Her eyes widened slightly, her cheeks flushing red. She was too adorable.
"U-um, n-no, I mean, yes-fuck, I mean-."
"Hello?! Anyone home?!" Tom sighed, his eyes closing as he heard Harrison's voice. He literally could not have picked a worse time to interrupt, just after Y/N had admitted that she thought that Tom was cute. Or beautiful, as she put it, but that didn't matter. Tom looked around Y/N and down the corridor.
"In here, mate!" Tom yelled back. Y/N looked over her shoulder and smiled at Harrison as he walked in.
"Y/N, what are you doing here?" He chuckled, his eyes flicking to Tom slightly. Tom glared at him and shook his head as a silent order to tell Harrison to keep his fucking mouth shut. After all, Harrison was another one who knew about Tom's hopeless crush on their friend.
"I had a photography lesson with Nikki. But she had some errands to run, so she left me here to photograph Tom." she shrugged. Harrison nodded, a slight smirk curling onto his lips as he looked at Tom again.
"Yup. Sounds about right." He chuckled, Tom's eyes widening and his jaw clenching as another quiet warning to his best friend. Why can't he shut the fuck up, he thought. Y/N's eyebrows furrowed.
"What do you mean?" she returned.
"Nothing, he means nothing. Don't worry about it." Tom shook his head. Y/N squinted her eyes at them, showing her lingering suspicion as Harrison sat down at the island in the kitchen.
"So, how are things, Y/N?" He asked, Tom biting his lip and looking at the gorgeous girl as he waited to hear her answer. She sighed and shrugged.
"Yeah, not much going on. Just trying to get through uni and photography class. Not like I'm a famous actor or model." she teased as she looked at Tom and then Harrison. The boys chuckled and looked at each other.
"Come on, Y/N, you could definitely be a model." Tom nodded.
"You think so?" she smiled. God, the fact that he could make her smile was making his heart flutter.
"Oh, yeah. Give me the camera, I'll take some shots of you two." Harrison nodded as he jumped down from the stool. Her eyes widened.
"I don't think so, Haz, this camera cost three grand." she scoffed.
"Harry's costs four and he trusts me with it daily. Don't worry, I know how to protect an expensive camera." He reassured. She sighed and bit her lip as she hesitantly gave it to him before heading to Tom.
"What should we do?" He asked.
"How about a fun one? I don't know, we can make it up as we go along." she shrugged. Tom nodded before curling his arm around her waist, secretly using this as an opportunity to hold and touch the beautiful girl. He pulled her into his body, making her look up at him.
"Shit, sorry, um...is this okay?" He chuckled nervously.
"Y-yeah, of course." she smiled, making him return it as she leant back slightly but stayed hooked into his arm as she raised her fist to his jaw. He played along, scrunching his eye and face up and looking into the camera as Y/N smiled at him.
"That's a sick shot, guys!" Harrison laughed as he took the photo before lowering the camera.
"It's because we have a sick model, Haz". Tom smiled as he looked at her. She smirked and looked down, Tom's heart flipping at the fact that she was blushing. And she was blushing because of him.
Y/N's P.O.V
I sat on the counter in the kitchen and threw a grape at Tom, him crouching down slightly with his mouth open to try and catch it. He caught it in his mouth, making all three of us cheer loudly as he held his arms up.
"Hey! Best shot yet!" Harrison cheered.
"I'm back, I'm back, sorry." Nikki chuckled as she rushed back into the kitchen, making us all look at her.
"Don't worry, Mrs Holland, we ended up having a great time." I smiled, making Tom return it and bite his lip at me.
"Oh, I'm glad. We're out of time today but I can either refund you the money, or I'll add another half an hour onto your next lesson for free." she nodded. I bit my lip and looked at Tom. A bit of money back would have been great, sure, but an extra half an hour next time meant an extra half an hour with Tom. I knew which one I wanted.
"I'll take the extra half an hour." I nodded.
"Alright, then." Nikki smiled.
"Come on, I'll walk you home." Tom spoke, making me look at him.
"Tom, it's okay, you don't have to do that-."
"No, he does, Y/N. It's good to know that I raised at least one of my sons right." Nikki teased, making Tom chuckle and smile at her as she ruffled his hair.
"I'll see you around, Haz. See you next week, Mrs Holland." I smiled as I jumped down from the counter and grabbed my stuff.
"See you, Y/N!" Haz called as Tom and I started to head out of the house.
"That was so much fun." I chuckled, Tom nodding and sticking his hands into his jacket pockets as we started to walk. It wasn't even that far to my house, a five minute walk at most, and it was broad daylight, but it was nice to know that Tom was as much of a gentleman as ever.
"It was, I love doing stuff like that. It's sometimes fun to just hang out with people, you know?" he shrugged.
"Yeah, I get that. I love clubbing, don't get me wrong, but there's also nothing wrong with just a chill afternoon with friends." I nodded. Tom looked down at me.
"And then when they're gone, cuddling up with a nice book and a blanket." he stated. I returned the glance.
"And a nice cup of tea." I chuckled. He returned it and smiled, making me bite my lip.
"I didn't realise that we had that in common. I wonder what else we have in common." he stated as we continued to wander along.
"Well, there's plenty of time to find out, isn't there?" I smiled.
"God, I hope so." he scoffed and shook his head. I chuckled and turned to look at him as we got to my house.
"Um, well...I guess that I'll see you at your house when I have lessons, and apart from that, I'll just see you around." I shrugged. His smile dipped slightly and he looked down.
"Okay...or, we could...like...plan to see each other...alone, and not at my house." he chuckled nervously as he looked back up at me. My eyes widened slightly.
"Tom, are you asking me out on a date?" I smiled. He returned it and bit his lip.
"Yeah. Yeah, I am. I've seen you around my house, obviously, and you're always so lovely to my mum, and me, and my brothers. I guess that I just want to see more of that." he shrugged.
"Well, you'll get to. Because I'd love to go on a date with you." I nodded. He returned it and smiled.
"Awesome. I'll text you to sort something out later." he spoke.
"Sounds good." I chuckled. He returned it and nodded again before starting to walk away from my house. I smiled and bit my lip as he looked over his shoulder at me, a chuckle leaving his lips as he turned back around and I headed up the stairs to my house.
