HYDRA'S best agent *final part* (Peter Parker)
Requested by simpforsoup: Y/N starts at Midtown, but continues to ignore Peter. She fully avoids him at both school and the Tower, leaving him wondering what he did. After a week of ignoring him, Y/N and Peter find themselves alone since the rest of the team are out on a mission. Peter uses the opportunity to confront Y/N about why she's ignoring him. In his upset, he lets it slip that the reason for him being so hurt by her ignoring him is that he loves her.
I stood over my bed, my hands quickly packing all of my books and equipment into the backpack that Tony had bought me for school. Today would be my first day ever at an actual school, and to say that I was excited was an understatement. Though, I wasn't excited to start ignoring Peter properly. But, it had to be done. I zipped my bag up and put one strap over my shoulder before heading out of my bedroom and into the kitchen. Tony looked up at me as I walked in.
"Morning, kid. Fired up and ready to go for your first day of school?" he smiled as I grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl.
"So ready. I'm super excited." I chuckled.
"Yeah, I bet you are. Pete is usually out in a few minutes, then you guys can go down and get Happy to give you a lift." he nodded. My smile dipped, my eyes wavering at the mention of Peter's name.
"Actually, um, I think that I'm going to go now. I want to be there early." I lied. Tony looked up at me.
"He'll only be a couple of minutes, you guys will be there in plenty of time." he shrugged.
"I, um, don't want to chance it. See you later, Tony." I nodded as I headed towards the elevator.
"Alright, kid. See you later." he returned, making me gulp as I got into the elevator and the doors closed behind me.
Peter's P.O.V
Peter headed out into the kitchen, a spring in his step as he was excited for his first day at school with Y/N. She had been a bit off over the weekend, Peter had barely seen her, but he had chalked it down to her just being nervous about starting school.
"Morning, Mr Stark." he spoke, alerting his mentor to his presence as the man looked up.
"Hey, Pete. Do you know if Y/N's okay?" he asked. Peter's eyebrows furrowed as he sat down at the island.
"Yeah, I think so. I mean, she was a bit distant after I talked to her about school, but I figured that she was just nervous. Why?" he scoffed. Tony sighed and looked at him.
"Don't shoot the messenger, but Y/N already left for school." he admitted. Peter's eyes widened, his heart dropping at Tony's words. Whatever Peter had done, it had to have been bad for Y/N to leave for her first day of school without him.
"What? She left without me?" he gulped.
"Yeah, about ten minutes ago. I did tell her that you'd only be a few minutes and that you'd make it in plenty of time, but she insisted that she wanted to be early. Just keep an eye on her, yeah, kid?" he checked. Peter gulped again, desperately trying to swallow tears as he looked down.
"Yeah. Will do, Mr Stark." he mumbled, trying not to sound too broken as he stood up and headed to the elevator.
Y/N's P.O.V
I walked through the school doors, my earphones playing music into my ears and blocking out the sounds of school as I walked in. I had started at Midtown a week ago, and it had been pretty cool so far. I had made friends with Betty and Liz, as well as MJ and Ned, and my above-average intelligence meant that I was easily excelling in all of my classes. The only thing was Peter. Because a week of me being at the school also marked a week since I had chosen to distance myself from him. It had been torture, but I had been ignoring him all week. I had left for school earlier than he had every day, I had done my homework in my room instead of in the kitchen with him, I had even made a point of training at different times to him. I knew that it was cruel, and looking back, it maybe hadn't been the best option to try and stop myself from falling more in love with him, but I didn't see a way to stop it now without revealing to him how I truly felt. And so, I'd carry on ignoring him, I guessed with the hope that the distance would also make him re-evaluate his feelings for me. Though I didn't even know if I wanted that anymore. I just wanted him. I looked up as I got to my locker, my eyes wavering as I saw Peter down the hall from me. He was shoving stuff into his locker, the expression on his face one of hurt and tiredness. I could only assume because of me. He looked up, making my eyes widen as his gaze fell upon me. His eyes widened, and his mouth slowly gaped open as if he wanted to speak.
"Y/N-." I quickly turned on my heels, tears pricking my eyes as I raced away from the boy. Looking back on it now, I majorly regretted my decision to have started distancing myself from him, but it was one that I had made now. And one that I couldn't take back. No matter how much I wanted to.
Peter's P.O.V
Peter stood at his locker, his lips pressed into a thin line as he shoved everything into the metal box. It had been a week since Y/N had started ignoring him completely out of the blue, and he was beyond hurt. What made it worse was that it was only him who she'd started ignoring, so he couldn't even lie to himself and say that she was just a bit closed off. No. He was surely the problem, but he had no idea what he'd done. He'd been nothing but kind to her, and hadn't hurt her as far as he was aware when they'd been play-fighting. He hadn't done anything wrong, which is what made it worse. His heart was breaking over the fact that the girl that he was in love with was just ignoring him, and he had no idea how to fix it. No fucking idea. He looked up and down the hallway, making Y/N's eyes widen as his gaze fell upon her. His eyes wavered as he saw her, his heart jumping as he opened his mouth to speak, but found that he had no words for the girl.
"Y/N-." As soon as he spoke, she turned on her heel and rushed away from him. He scoffed and shook his head, a tear leaving his eye at her adamant decision to stay away from him. It was breaking him.
"Hey, dude." Peter quickly wiped the tear away as Ned and MJ walked up to him.
"Hey." he mumbled. They looked at him with furrowed eyebrows.
"What's wrong with you, sour-spider?" MJ fake-pouted. Peter sighed and looked between them.
"Y/N is still ignoring me, and I still don't know what I've done wrong. She's not even uttered a word to me since she kicked me out of her room last weekend. I have no idea what I did wrong, and so I have no idea how to fix it." he choked and shook his head.
"Hmm. Did you call her anything that implies she's like a sibling to you?" MJ asked.
"No." Peter shook his head.
"Did you say that she looked only 'okay' in an outfit?" she questioned further.
"No." he scoffed again.
"Have you left any of her messages on 'read'?" she asked.
"Again, no." Peter sighed. MJ bit her lip, her eyes wandering as she tried to think.
"I don't think that you did anything wrong, Pete. I think that something else is going on. I suggest finding a time to get her alone, and really ask her. I know that you're worried that she'll clam up again because of her past, but this isn't fair on you. You deserve answers." she nodded. Peter sighed and returned it.
"A week ago, I would have said no way. But you're right. This has gone on for too long, especially as she hasn't told me why. I'll get her alone, and I'll talk to her." he decided.
"Good luck, dude. Sounds like you're going to need it." Ned nodded, Peter sighing and returning it as he bit his lip.
Peter sat in the living room, doing his homework and reading his science book as he tried to distract himself from the situation with Y/N. Suddenly, the alarms started to blare, making Peter's eyes widen as he looked up at them.
"Mission in Ukraine, we'll be back by dinner, look after Y/N!" Tony yelled as all of the Avengers ran through the living room and to the helicopter pad holding the jetti.
"She won't even talk to me, how am I supposed to look after her?!" Peter exclaimed.
"Figure it out!" Tony shouted back, making the boy sigh and sit back against the cushions as the jetti started to rise into the air. He bit his lip and looked down the hallway towards Y/N's room. Weirdly enough, the rest of the team getting a mission had created the perfect opportunity for Peter to finally confront Y/N. It was just a matter of whether or not he was going to take it. He gulped, his heart starting to race. This had gone on long enough, he'd barely heard two words out of the girl since last week. And if he was being honest, he missed her.
"Fuck it." he mumbled as he shot up from the sofa. His heart thumped loudly in his chest, his blood pumping harshly at the idea of confronting her. After all, Spider-Man had no issue with fighting people and getting into their faces if needs be, but Peter was a different story. Peter did not like confrontation. But right now, he had no other choice. He took a deep breath as he reached Y/N's door, his hand gripping the handle as he pushed the door open.
Y/N's P.O.V
I sat on my bed, ignoring the alarms blaring as I tried to read my book. After all, they weren't calling me to arms, and so I didn't need to move. Suddenly, my door burst open, making me look up as Peter barged into my room. My eyes widened at him.
"Peter, what the fuck?" I scoffed.
"Oh, so now you'll talk to me?" he nodded. My eyes wavered, my mind silently cursing the boy for the fact that he'd made me talk. Well, that's all that he'd get out of me, I decided as I looked back down at my book.
"What the fuck has been going on so much this last week?! You went from wanting to cuddle every night and watch a movie, to not even looking at me! I don't understand what I did, and it's been killing me all week!" He exclaimed. I clenched my jaw and tried to continue reading my book, making Peter look at me with wide eyes.
"Don't tell me that you're still trying to ignore me. Are you fucking kidding me, right now?!" he shouted.
"What do you want me to say, Peter?" I shrugged as I looked back at him. His eyes widened further.
"I want you to tell me why! I want you to tell me why you've been ignoring me this entire week, why you've been acting like I don't exist! Because you left me so fucking hurt and confused, you left me feeling like I never fucking mattered to you! I was doing everything right, or at least I thought that I was. I'm sorry if I fucked up in some way, but you should have told me if I did, you shouldn't have just left me to second-guess myself all week and wonder what the fuck I did to deserve you ignoring me!" he yelled.
"Are you done?" I scoffed.
"No, I'm not fucking done! I've been in so much pain this week, I've been so hurt because I fucking love you, Y/N! I'm sorry for cursing so much, but I'm fucking in love with you, and I thought that you felt the same, so it tore me apart when you started just ignoring me like I'd broken your heart!" he shouted. My eyes widened, my breath hitching at his words. His eyes widened too, his Adam's apple bobbing in a gulp as he also realised what he'd just admitted. That he loved me. I'd never have someone love me before, let alone admit to it.
"Shit...I wasn't meant to say that, fuck..." he gulped, his voice suddenly a lot quieter than it had been a second ago. I stared at him with wide eyes, my mind desperately trying to process what he had told me. I was taken aback to say the least. Whilst I had secretly hoped this entire time that he felt the same way about me as I did, I had never believed for a second that I was actually right. Peter Parker, the boy who saved my life...loved me.
"You know what, forget I said anything." Peter mumbled, his bright red cheeks telling me that he was beyond embarrassed as he turned to leave my room.
"Peter, wait." I spoke up as I stood from my bed. He turned back to look at me, his eyes still wide as he gulped. I bit my lip, my heart almost pounding out of my chest as I walked towards him.
"I won't forget that you said anything. Because I feel the same way." I admitted quietly. His mouth fell open, his eyes wavering at my words.
"What?" he choked. I nodded, my heart almost pounding out of my chest as I took his face into my hands and pulled him down. His eyes widened as I pulled his lips down to meet mine in a kiss. He returned it immediately, our eyes fluttering shut as his hands raised to cup my waist. I gently tugged on his curls, making him smirk into the kiss as he curled his hands around my waist to pull me closer. I broke the kiss and touched our foreheads, my eyes fluttering open again to look into his stunning chocolate orbs.
"I love you too, Pete. And I'm sorry for ignoring you." I gulped. He sighed, his hand raising to gently stroke my cheek as he looked at me.
"Why did you ignore me?" he asked. I gulped again, my lip in between my teeth as I moved away from him. I sat down on the edge of my bed and looked down at my hands, Peter sitting next to me as he looked at me.
"You know that for my entire life, until you rescued me, I was under HYDRA'S control. That means that I haven't experienced much new in my life, and they always taught me that new was bad, new was to be feared. So, when I started feeling new feelings for you, feelings that I'd never had before for anyone, I started to get scared. At first, I was just scared to hurt you because you were so nice, and I was so closed off. But then I started having what Tony called a crush. I wanted to be around you at all times, I wanted to laugh and be close with you. But then the HYDRA training kicked in, and the idea of facing the new feelings terrified me. I thought that the best option was to ignore you in the hopes that I'd push you away enough for both of our feelings to subside. But I regretted doing that as soon as I started. Of course, though, by then, it was too late." I choked, a tear leaving my eye as I played nervously with my fingers.
"Oh, Y/N." Peter sighed, making me bite my lip to try and stop more tears from falling as he pulled me into his loving arms. I didn't reciprocate the hug, but I rested my head against his chest and let myself be calmed by his gentle heartbeat, which seemed to be enough for him.
"I agree that you trying to push me away wasn't a good idea. But I understand it and get why you did it. Don't forget, though, that you're safe with me. I know that you're new to these feelings, and I know that you'll be new to a relationship. But that's okay, everyone has to start from somewhere. You take your time, and I'll be right there for all of it. I know that you've been pushing me away since we met, but I'm not going anywhere." he promised, his hands soothingly rubbing up and down my back as he continued to hold me. I bit my lip and looked up at him.
"Good. Because I don't want you to go anywhere anymore." I admitted in a whisper. He gave me a small smile, making me return it as he leant down and kissed me again. I returned it, my hand gently cupping his face as we kissed. He broke it and looked at me.
"I love you, Y/N." he spoke softly.
"I love you too, Pete. Even more so for not giving up on me." I nodded.
"I'm never going to give up on you." he reassured, making me give him another small smile as he leant down and gently kissed me again.
