Chapter 4

Harry had been surprised as he heard that there had been a compulsion on him and many other things that would make him loyal and vulnerable. Even his magic had been half blocked and he seethed about that information. Without the other's interference, this all would still be there. Leading him to know that the adult would not lie to him.

Another thing that irked him was that the other had blood adopted him. It made him unsure how to react and he really wasn't even remotely liking this, yet he should have known when looking at the mirror. Nothing could change anymore and he might as wing it.

The bastard was smug about this and he scowled. There was something else that he noticed more things about Draco. Now that they knew each other for a week he could see that the teen cared for him. It warmed his heart but reminded him that his life was a mess.

Actually, he was a mess. His emotions were everywhere and weirdly his heart was feeling that fluttering. Heck, he flushed when getting help and teasing from Draco. A strange thing was that he was feeling shy around the blond teen. God, he was not sure what to do with all this mess.

He took a deep breath and decided maybe he should ignore this minor feeling he got. The teen was surely not gay, and he wasn't wanting to feel like this. He had other things to do than this crush that he had. He was annoyed at himself and it irked him, even more, when he realized that he was acting like a timid schoolgirl.

It wasn't helping that Tom was smirking at him almost as if he knew what he was feeling. Of course, he would know how to look in someone's mind. There was one thing that hadn't changed that he still couldn't leave the bed.

They were wanting him to go slowly and he was getting stir crazy. The only time that he could walk was when going to the bath and he was annoyed that he was weak. Making him annoyed that someone had to help him to walk to the bathroom.

"Harry you know what the Dark Lord had told you; to stay in bed." The tone was amused yet also teasing and he flushed at his squawk that went out.

To make this even worse his body ended up falling down on the floor and that in front of Draco. His cheeks felt flaming hot and a pout was on his lips. He hated how weak he was and hated that he couldn't even walk. God, he was done with his life entirely.

It wasn't helping that Draco rushed over and helped him up onto the bed. Nor was it helping that the other was fuzzing over him, even after he said that he was fine. Obviously, he wasn't but that was beside the point.

"Look you are still weak, and I think you need to be checked out again. It's just not a good sign for you to feel that weak."

He huffed out, folding his arms together and giving him a look that said; what you don't say? The sarcasm and dryness of his expression. Draco gave him a heavy sigh and ruffled his head. It made him duck his head and his entire face slowly heated up.

"I know but you should really be careful, I wouldn't want to get you hurt Harry." A softness and a concerned tone made his heart flutter and he puffed his cheeks out.

"I know but I just hate this."

A heavy dread was feeling over him, and he felt that fate was screwing him over once more. That he would stay weak like this and that he won't ever get out of this situation. Draco seemed to feel this dread and he couldn't help but feel a bit better when his body was pulled into a half hug. It helped him and he knew once again how much skin deprived he had been.

"I know and I am sure that everything will just go well." The tone was soft and reassuring. Once more he realized how much Draco was sounding different than before.

There hadn't been any bickering yet and he had to think about why. There was just something odd about this entire situation.

"I am confused at us being civil. It's weird that we haven't bickered yet."

"That would be the fault of Weasley, and muggle-born. I never really wanted to argue with you, but you butted in and one thing always led to us fighting."

A shrug was at the end and he blinked as realizing that Draco had been right. The fighting always happened after either of his two best friends said something.

"Guess this much. You did seem a lot ticked off at the arguing."

That was how they started to talk about the rest of their years. It was clear now that Draco knew that he was not liking conflicts or fighting. It was one of the things that he made sure that he wouldn't end up being dragged into. Marvolo promised him that he wouldn't have to be involved in the war.

As long as his friends were safe it was fine for him.
