“Heh, someone who doesn't even know what a ghoul is, or how to use their own Kagune properly isn't really a ghoul at all.” These words... I've heard these words before, echoing through my mind as my body felt cold, though not like before. I've had these nightmares ever since I first met him I could faintly see the figure of a familiar male ghoul. We were in the alleyway again, this time it was only the two of us. I felt my back against a cold, hard stone wall, preventing me from moving much. “Knight.....” I said quietly, my words they didn't come out right and I felt an aching pain in my chest. I put a hand to it now gritting my teeth as I heard him speak again. “I wouldn't even consider you a ghoul, your far too weak to even be a threat to anyone, I wonder.....how would someone of your rank even survive here?” I didn't know what he had meant by rank, I didn't know what he was saying at all really as I heard him then say something else as my eyes widened. “Rosetta.......” I could hardly believe it, his voice was drifting off as I could have sworn I heard him say my name. “How could he know......my....name?......” I said steadily choking out each word now. I slowly began to look around, as the scent of blood filled the air. I looked down staring at the large scarlet pool around my body as blood dripped from my chest having covered my hand by now. I gritted my teeth before looking up towards Knight as he was right infront of me towering over my smaller frame, he kicked me away from the wall before his kagune appeared again, he rushed at me and began to stab and slice at my body over and over and over again. I winced feeling each wound being inflicted upon my body as I tried to find some way to make it stop, I started to feel something warm coming from my back again though it soon cooled as my shoulder stiffened up. Crystal-like shards were shot at him as he took a small step back blocking them, he stared at me and smirked before suddenly....., his kagune extended becoming even longer now before stabbing through my stomach. I froze as everything around me began to go dark, but before I knew it I was back in the dorm on the burgundy chair once again. I sat up quickly looking around now as I could hardly believe what I had just saw. Something so horrifying....., and yet....., so true......., I have no rank in this world, I would die before I knew what was even going on..... I saw Kumiko was working infront of a bright screen again, her fingers quickly tapping at the small buttons on whatever she was using. I began to think about just how I had even made it back here before it hit me, Haise....and his companion......they had dropped me off here after they had asked all their questions. They....the way they looked at me as I spoke....., they almost seemed to feel bad for me. This seemed to anger me a bit now as I shook my head, I didn't want anyone's pity. I want information, it isn't my fault that I don't know much about this world or that I'm so weak......., I shook my head before I began to go towards Kumiko. I didn't notice that my hand still gripped the spot where I had once been wounded by Knight as I just slowly made my way behind the bookshelf to the small room that Kumiko had seemingly made sometime before I got here. “Kumiko........., What.... what do you know about ghouls?....” I asked hoping that she could atleast give me the answer to a few of the questions I had buzzing in my head. Kumiko continued to tap away on the strange glowing device before she blinked and turned to look at me. “Ghouls?...., Well you could say they're beings that can have a human-like appearance, but they're still different from us, they eat humans because that seems to be the only thing they can eat. There are a bunch of different things about ghouls to be honest, they all have a predatory organ in their body.” She said putting a finger to her chin now as she hummed in thought. “I believe it is called a Kakuhou, this is where a lot of their RC Cells, or Red Child Cells come from, which help to make up their kagune. That's the glowy thing they sometimes use to kill with. But enough with all that complex stuff.” She said shaking her head now as I stared at her in wonder. “Ghouls have different Rc cells and that can depend on the type of kagune they have, their black and red eyes, they appear when a ghoul is hungry, angry, or when their kagune is activated, or so they say. There's books in the library about this stuff, and some guy even answers questions on ghouls in some show on tv.” Kumiko said, I was shocked that she knew so much and learning such information made me want to ask more questions about the subject, though I began to ask myself a few questions in my head. ‘Knight...., He seemed to know that I was a ghoul...., Should I tell Kumiko this?, She certainly smells human, and most humans seem to not really like these.... Ghouls in the world...., I wonder if that's because ghouls eat humans.....’ I sighed and shook my head before staring at Kumiko who was staring at me at the time. I blinked and just gave a small smile “Thanks...., Sorry I don't really know much about this sort of thing” Kumiko stared at me as she smiled back and turned back to the glowing screen. “You're welcome, just come talk to me anytime you need to anything” she said. I looked away before I walked past the bookshelf again, looking around I went to the door. I wondered if there were a lot of these ghouls living amongst the humans unaware of such a thing. I went to grab a cup of coffee from the kitchen area for now before I stubbed my foot on something. I looked down at what it was as I flinched slightly at the small amount of pain that now made my toe seem to throb. I picked up a small black box looking thing of sorts and just stared at it seeing a few buttons on it. I pressed one of the buttons out of curiosity as the box soon had started to glow, I stared at it wondering what this was as I kept messing around with it. Though soon I had already developed a strange childish curiosity for the small square item that I held within my hands. It seemed to be a toy of sorts, it easily caught my attention distracting me from what I had been doing. Though not for too long as the tv would be turned on as Kumiko sat in front of the TV watching something as she took down a few notes, this seemed to be that show she was talking about earlier as she even called me over to watch it while she took notes and wrote a summary about of for something the called school.
