Forty Five
Jungkook watched with guilty eyes as Jin's soulmate took Ha-Na's unconscious form into her arms. The man wished that there was a better way to do this, but there wasn't any other choice. Everyone felt that if Ha-Na were to lose herself to whatever was inside, there would no way to get her back. Sure Ha-Na had control over it, but that wasn't enough to soothe their fears. Extra precautionary measures don't hurt, right?
Jungkook felt absolutely terrible that he betrayed her the way he did, but it was the only way to keep her from fighting such a dangerous war. Ha-Na was too fragile of a soul to let her fight on the front lines. Jungkook wasn't ready to let her fight alongside him. If he had to take the heat from her when she woke up, then so be it- she would be doing so in a safer environment.
The man fiddled with the Tokki mask with guilt as he followed Jin's soulmate down to the safe room. Deep inside of him, he could feel the Tokki trying to break free of the chains keeping him at bay. Jungkook's jaw was clenched tightly as he forcibly held the alter-ego back, once the girls were in the safe room, he could let Tokki go.
Just as Jin's soulmate was about to walk down the stairs, she suddenly fell backwards and Ha-Na fell from her arms. She groaned in pain as she clutched her stomach, suffering from a sudden elbow to the gut. Jungkook's eyes grew wide as she was moving, acting as if there was no sedative in her bloodstream. Even Jin's soulmate was shocked, the pain in her stomach having no effect on her mindset.
Ha-Na struggled to get up on her feet, her legs feeling like jelly.
"How mean Jungkook," she huffed in a breathy voice. "Ha-Na only wanted to help you."
The man in question shivered under the sudden change in her voice- that wasn't Ha-Na. He remained rooted in his spot as she turned around and saw her eyes, her black eyes. Despite this cold look of her orbs, the ego holding Ha-Na's body currently held no animosity. She knew Jungkook only wanted the best for Ha-Na, but he could have done so in a more gentler way. She saw the fragile girl as the other side of their coin- she could not exist without Ha-Na. What good would it do to have a chain of tension between them?
"W-Who...?" he gasped.
The woman shook her head.
"That is not important right now," she spoke in a lukewarm tone. "Ha-Na is asleep, I have control of her body. The moment you injected her with that sedative, I switched places with her." She sighed softly, before walking up to Jungkook. The man momentarily dropped his mask, and Tokki seemed to have stopped trying to break free himself. The sight of Ha-Na's alter ego stopped his desires to take control.
"Jungkook, Ha-Na values your safety. She doesn't care if she gets hurt in the process, as long as you aren't hurt then she'll be happy. She's pleaded to me countless times that we have to protect you too, and I agree with her. You can only do so much when Tokki has control over you. Does it really hurt to have Ha-Na watch your six?"
Jungkook's eyes widened as her words began to sunk in. They sunk down into his soul and they reached Tokki as well.
"Jungkook! Hurry up!" Jimin exclaimed from the top of the stairs.
The man turned his attention back to Ha-Na, and bit his lip.
"I don't want either of you to get hurt," Jungkook said with wobbling lips. "I've spent years hurting people who have found happiness, now that I have found my own happiness, I just don't want to lose you."
"Do you think letting Ha-Na fight beside you would make her happy?" she asked softly.
Jungkook shut his eyes tightly, clenching his hands into tight fists. The man sucked in his breath, and looked up into her black eyes.
"One scratch," he huffed. "One scratch and you are on the bench."
