Chapter 4:
RM POV
The night slowly crept in on us as we somehow managed to start a fire on the cold cement floor.
Old sleeping bags, wood and some matches had been provided, by our anonymous speaker, for us to stay overnight......for how many nights was still unknown......
J-Hope, Mia and Jimin sat in a circle around the fire, shivering as they put their hands in front of the fire.
Mia snuggled up next to J-Hope as his arm rested around her.
Jimin sat on the opposite side of them, obviously lost in his worrying thoughts.
I, however, sat away from the fire, gazing up at the dark and gloomy night sky just behind the hanging little boy, hugging my knees as I felt sorry for his unfair fate.
A pile of blood had leaked underneath him into what now seemed like a pool.
I occasionally stared at the blood puddle, wondering if any of us would end up making our own.
"Watcha thinkin'?" J-Hope asked as his eyes focused on the sky above and he sat next to me.
"Trying to figure out this dumb riddle." I answered, not bothering to look at him.
"Any clue what it's about?" He asked, looking at me part worried, however, part relaxed and calm.
Relaxed? How could he be so relaxed and calm at a time like this? Our lives are on the line and it's up to me to solve this riddle.
"Nope." I sighed, looking down.
A moment of silence creeped up on me as all I could hear was the small chatters from Jimin and Mia.
"You're not alone, you know?" J-Hope spoke, finally breaking the silence as he looked at me with empathy.
"I'm responsible for this, it was my idea to take a break and look where it got us?" I snapped, eyes still glued to the floor below me.
"Take your own advice RM." He spoke softly. "Take a break. This isn't your fault, no matter how much you think it is, it's not. We are all responsible for what happened to us and for what happened to Jack. He must've snuck in the car with us without us noticing. We are all responsible for that. Do you understand?" He spoke sternly, as if he wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer.
Finally, I looked up at him to see he was still waiting for an answer so instead of saying no directly, I thought I'd give it to him differently.
"But I~" Before I could even start my argument he sternly cut me off.
"Uh uh uh no buts! This isn't on you, it's on all of us, got it?" He spoke that last part softly, this time reaching my heart as I realised he was right.
I may be the oldest and most responsible but that doesn't mean I'm responsible for......well......all this. But neither was anyone else. This wasn't my fault, not Jimins fault, not J-Hopes fault, not Mia's fault, it was none of our faults! This was the fault of the anonymous speaker. When I get my hands on them they're gonna wish they were never born.
"Thanks bro." I respond, shaking his hand in a high five as we (as the girls say) 'man hugged.' I still don't understand why they call it that.
I returned my gaze towards the starless sky above me as J-Hope and I sat in silence thinking of one thing and one thing only.
The riddle.
Well that's what I assumed he was thinking of.
"You must first find the terror that looms through the knight, then and only then, will you learn how to fight." J-Hope repeated the words from the anonymous thing we encountered earlier today, making it clear he really was thinking of the same thing as me. "What do you think it could be?" He asked, looking at me with great confusion on his face.
"I don't know......" I responded, still half lost in thought of what it could've possibly meant. Were we going to be in danger tonight? Would we go back home tonight? Should we be prepared to stay for more than one night?
Suddenly, two loud voices came booming around the corner just as Mia and J-Hope had done earlier after discovering......well......his death...
"Get this thing off me!" A familiar voice boomed with yet another familiar figure following behind.
"Come here! No no! This way!" V yelled, chasing after a man dressed as a knight. Wow. Who would be dressing like a knight in this he-wait! V!
"V!" We all cheered happily in unison, standing from our spot and chasing after him as we tackled him in a warm embrace which he gladly accepted.
"Hey guys! Where have you been?" He asked as we all separated from our hug.
"Where have we been? Where have you been?" Mia questioned, pointing a finger at his chest.
"Wow, what happened to you?" He questioned, staring at the dry tear marks her cheeks held.
"Nothing......" She muttered, looking away as she wiped one last tear that prickled her cheek.
J-Hope put a comforting hand on her shoulder partnered with a comforting smile as she smiled weakly back.
Jimin put a hand on V's shoulder and gestured for him to look up at the lifeless body. He did so and his reaction was......well the same as everyone else's. Shocked.
He covered his mouth with his hands as he stared at the body in disbelief.
"I-Is that......?" He stuttered, looking at me in horror.
"Yeah......" I spoke softly, gently closing my eyes as I put my head down.
A moment of silence once again creeped up. Wow. There were a lot of silent, sad moments. I guess that's what happens when you get separated in a maze of doom. You know what? That's what I'm gonna call it now; maze of doom.
CLANG!
Something clanged up against the wall. Something loud and heavy.
"Uhhh guys? A little help here!" The man inside the knight suit yelled.
"This is what you get for putting on weird suits, sugar!" V yelled, standing up and running over to him, trying to at least pull the helmet off.
"Sugar?!" We all yelled in unison, sharing the same shocked, yet excited face.
"What are you even doing in there?" J-Hope chuckled.
"It was glowing red so V said it might possess magic powers! I thought we could use it to get us-ow! V!" He yelled, throwing his hands to the side of his helmet which still seemed to be glued to his head.
"I'm trying to get it off! Hold still!" He shouted, still trying to pull the helmet off his head.
"Uhhh guys?" Jimin questioned, shakily backing up as if something was wrong.
"What is it?" Mia asked, raising an eyebrow at Jimin.
Jimin pointed to the suit which began to slowly glow a bright red.
"What? What's going on?" Sugar questioned, snapping his head around to try and find us.
"RM?" J-Hope spoke as we all began to back up.
The knight suit began to glow as bright as the sun. I couldn't even see the body anymore, just a bright, blinding light.
J-Hope looked at me straight in the eyes as I already knew the words that were about to escape his mouth.
"I think I figured out the first part of the riddle."
