Chapter 1 - The Return to Narnia

2021
Y/N's POV

"You've got to stop getting into fights, Y/N." my friend said to me, as we walked out of our school.
"I don't get into fights. I was only defending myself, because the boys were being bullies." I argued, touching the blood streaming from my nose.
"Well, to be fair, they did find those stupid drawings you did in your notebook." she said to me.
"They're not stupid!" I shouted.
The drawings she was talking about were rough sketches I drew in my free periods. They were of the Fauns and Griffins and Centaurs and other magical creatures.
"Whatever. Well, take care of yourself. I'll see you next week!" she called to me, as she got onto her bicycle.
"See you next week." I said.
I sat down at the bus stop and opened my lunchbox to eat a sandwich.

Every time I was alone, I thought about Narnia and the Pevensies and Edmund. I sighed, remembering how I blacked out in Narnia only to wake up in my bedroom. It had been a year. Every morning since then, before I opened my eyes, I hoped I would wake up next to Edmund in our chamber at Cair Paravel. But it never happened. Still, I never gave up. There was not a day in the past year that I hadn't thought of them.

Just as I was thinking about this, I noticed a curious thing. There was a tile that was getting sucked into the ground. Suddenly, as if something had pulled it from below, it disappeared and a black hole was left in its place. This started happening to the other tiles too. I looked around. Nobody seemed to care. Had they even noticed? Suddenly, a strong wind blew in my face, causing me to stand up. The seat below me vanished and so did the people. It felt like I was in a mild whirlwind. Soon, there was nothing around me and all I could see was white. Then, a beach appeared in front of me. It was a very familiar beach. Like, from a dream. Then I noticed that I was in a cave.

Lucy's POV

Edmund dumped his trunk onto the ground and sat down heavily on the bench.
I stroked Peter's arm comfortingly. "Your Welcome." Edmund huffed out.
"I had it sorted." Peter stood up.
"What was it this time?" Susan asked in a fed up tone.
"He bumped me." Peter looked back at us.
"So you hit him?" I asked.
"No. After he bumped me, they tried to make me apologise. That's when I hit him." Peter turned around fully, facing us.
"Really, is it that hard just to walk away?" Susan said.
"I shouldn't have to!" Peter exclaimed, "I mean, don't you ever get tired of being treated like a kid?"
"Uhm, we are kids." Edmund scoffed.
"Well, I wasn't always." Peter said, and the others knew what he meant.
"It's been a year. How long does he expect us to wait?" Peter sat back down.
"I think it's time to accept that we live here. It's no use pretending any different." Susan folded her arms.

Edmund's POV

"I think it's time to accept that we live here. It's no use pretending any different."
I sighed. Susan always did this. It was so annoying when she acted like a grown up. Didn't she miss Narnia? Or, more importantly, Y/N? And even if she didn't, couldn't she be sensitive to the fact that I did?

"Pretend you're talking to me." Susan suddenly said.
"We are talking to you." I snarkily replied.
She gave me a look.
"Ow!" Lucy suddenly jumped to her feet.
"Quiet, Lu." Susan said.
"Something pinched me!" Lucy said.
"Hey, stop pulling!" Peter looked at me.
"I'm not touching you!" I shouted back.
"Would all of you just-" Susan started, before we were all standing up.
"What is that?" Susan asked.
"It feels like magic!" Lucy exclaimed.
"Quick. Everyone hold hands."
"I'm not holding your hand!" I yelled over the noise.
"Just-" Peter grabbed my hand.
Strong winds blew in from everywhere, and Lucy's hat flew off along with half of the station walls. Soon, the station was no longer there. And we were standing in the middle of a cave. Outside was a beach; but in front of us, was the figure of a girl. A very familiar girl.

"Y/N!" I called out.
She turned around.
"Edmund?" she breathed out.

Y/N's POV

"Y/N!" I heard from behind me.
I recognised the voice immediately.
I turned around, breathing out, "Edmund?"
"Y/N!" Lucy shouted and ran up to me hugging me excitedly.
"Lucy." I wrapped my arms around her lovingly.
Before I knew what was happening, the others had already joined the embrace. After a few minutes, we broke apart.
"What happened to you?" Edmund asked, referring to the river of blood situated below my nostrils.
"Fight." I said, not wanting to explain the whole story.
"Peter knows how you feel, don't you, Peter?" Susan joked.
Peter rolled his eyes.

"I've missed you guys so much!" I said, still registering the fact that I was standing right next to them.
"We've missed you too!" Edmund said, on behalf of them all.
Then, we all turned to face the beach. The relaxing sounds of the waves and seabirds filled our ears. Lucy stepped in front and grinned at Susan and me. We giggled with her and ran towards the water, Edmund and Peter following.
"Shame you're not as quick as me, Ed." Peter called.
"Last one in's a rotten egg!" I shouted.

We stripped ourselves of our bags, shoes, socks and blazers, running into the sea. The boys held up their ties, splashing us with water. We ran around, kicking and jumping over the waves. Suddenly, I felt a pair of arms grab me around the waist from behind.
"Ed!" I screamed as Edmund picked me up and dunked me into the water.
I pulled him in with me, and we got out in fits of laughter, not to mention extreme shivering. Lucy tried to kick a wave at me, but slipped, giggling hard. After five minutes of playing around, I noticed that Ed was staring at the hills that were overlooking this beach.

"Ed?" I called out, drawing the others' attention.
"What is it?" Peter asked.
"Where do you suppose we are?" Edmund questioned.
"Well, where do you think?" Peter laughed out.
"Well, I don't remember any ruins in Narnia." Edmund said.
We all looked up at the hills. I certainly didn't recall there being any ruins in Narnia.
