Chapter 8: Friends?
Sanskaar paused his walk and sighed looking at his watch 7:10 AM and he was supposed to be here at 7:15 AM Uff, that was too close. He pushed the glass door of the Classic studio and walked inside.
Walking through the straight corridor he was able to hear a fast beat song which echoed with someone's counts and some whisper. He halted his pace and looked to his right only to witness a group of people dancing according to the loud rhythm of music and the counts given by a instructor. His eyes scanned the crowd in the studio and there she was, laughing and dancing happily.
Swara was very much happy since she was back again with the dance workout session she missed so much. She loved how refreshing she felt whenever she attended the sessions which was forced by her parents and it later turned into one of her daily routines. When the song ended everyone had clapped with smiles and laughter that echoed.
"Well done, let's meet again tomorrow." The instructor said cheerfully and everyone started dismissing taking their own materials they brought.
Swara pulled the band she had on her wrist and her hands ran to her hair to tie them in a ponytail while her eyes travelled to the entrance. She remembered calling Sanskaar here yesterday and there he was already looking at her. Sanskaar's eyes widened a little when she saw him and waved her hands at him with a smile and asked for two minutes to collect her things. He nodded his head.
She quickly opened the locker, took her things, wore her hoodie and went to Sanskaar after bidding bye to her friends there.
"Hey Sanskaar, Good morning and I hope I didn't make you wait for long." Swara asked as she looked at him.
"Good morning and no, I just came few minutes ago." He replied and the opened the door for her. Mumbling a thank you, Swara walked out followed by Sanskaar and they walked towards their school dance studio.
"Swara?" He called her.
"Hmm?" She asked as she inserted the key in the door and opened it.
"You go to classic studio everyday?" He asked out of curiosity as they both entered the dance studio.
"Nope, only one day in a week. It's so refreshing to start your day with some good music and dance for a better day." Swara said enthusiastically placing her things on the bench and her mobile out.
"That's nice." Sanskaar admitted.
"Okay Sanskaar so the thing is our dance master already sent me the choreography and I've already learnt it so just give me few seconds I'll refresh them and then let me help you out." Sanskaar mumbled a okay and leaned on the wall.
Swara took few minutes to brush up the steps she learnt yesterday and asked him to join her. Sanskaar stood facing her with distance and when Swara walked closer to him, he was disturbed with their closeness since has never been too close to any girl before.
"Okay Sanskaar first show me your right hand." When he did she placed her hand in his. "Now close your hand." and obliging her words he closed his hand with hers in his.
Sankaar obliged every order Swara gave and followed them leaving behind his unknown emotion that brought a conflict in his heart and Swara noticed that her closeness kind of affected him but he was still doing it well.
"Sanskaar if you keep this much distance between us I'm not sure if we can continue the dance." Swara said with a little glint of tease but he seems to be quite indulged with her words that he reduced the distance between them and continued dancing with her.
She couldn't help but smile at his innocence when he obliged every order she gave and went accordingly. Swara also didn't miss not to notice his ears turning red and couldn't help but chuckle.
"What happened?" Sanskaar asked as he twirled her and caught her in his arms again.
"You have not danced with any girl before?" She asked again with a smile. She still couldn't believe that he had not danced with any other girls. Sanskaar nodded in no quite embarrassed making his ears flush red even more and Swara couldn't help but adore how cute looked that way.
"Aww, Sanskaar are you embarrassed?" Swara teased with a laugh as they continued their dance.
"No!" He replied quickly making her laugh even more and he smiled.

It was nearly 6 PM when they walked out of the dance studio after showing their performance. Robin was amused seeing their dance with no flaws and encouraged them with lots of good words and asked them to practice whenever they got time.
"Ah Sanskaar, I'm impressed! You were really a fast observer and a great student. Keep it up." Swara showed him thumbs up.
"I told you so." He smiled remembering him challenging her yesterday at the end of the lunch period.
"Well I didn't expect you to win the challenge yaar. So yes ask me something and I'm getting it for you and I really truly mean it." Swara said while Sanskaar looked at her as they walked towards the café.
"Your eyes are- shining." He sounded amused and barely whispered instead of answering her. Swara smiled as she watched the sky filled with thousands of stars with the crescent moon. "Because I'm happy." She smiled looking at him and he smiled back looking at her for an instant and back again.
"I was thinking.. mm.. can we be friends?" He whispered softly with smile as he halted his steps away from the café. A soft smile played over her lips and her eyes shined as she was about to put her hand into his for a handshake suddenly she withdrew hers making Sanskaar confused.
"I thought we are already friends." Swara winked at him as she walked and opened the door of the café but paused. "Since you didn't choose what you want I thought of having a small coffee party with my new friend, coming?" She asked and Sanskaar nodded and took huge steps to reach her and both entered the café.
Swara took her usual seat upstairs and Sanskaar excused himself before she could place the order of what she wanted. Sighing heavily she looked outside the glass panel which gave a clear view of the busy city life with vehicles, people and traffic lights with some green shades hear and there. Texting Reema, her maasi that she could come soon she placed her mobile on the table.
She felt happy and peaceful after a long time. It's been a month and half already but still she and Jay didn't have much time for each other. Jay was very busy with the state level match that was approaching and along with that he had to tag along with studies as well. Even though she understood his situation she somehow missed their days together and that time Aditi was just a good friend to both of them. Those days had always been a bliss for her but at the present it was not bad too. Sanskaar was a good company and it unknowingly made her feel as she if she knew him long ago.
Her musings halted when her nostrils smelt the chai... Ah! how much she loved it. She looked at Sanskaar who was approaching her with two clay cups and Swara couldn't help but smile.
"I hope you like chai." Sanskaar sat opposite to Swara and forwarded her the clay cup and Swara quickly grabbed it.
"Who could refuse and not like chai? I love chai." Swara smiled. She loved drinking in clay cups and it was one of the major missed thing when she was abroad. Her eyes twinkled as took the fragrance of the fresh chai. The hint of elachi mixed in chai engulfed her nostrils making her heart contempt instantly.
"But as far as I know chai isn't sold here right?" Swara asked lifting her eyebrow at him.
"Well we've planned to sell chai this time for the upcoming winter and yes for now its only for special customers." He said giving her cheers.
"I'm waiting for the winter to come soon only because I can drink chai daily here." She giggled and took a sip of chai. Heaven! That's what she felt at the moment. A soft smile spread on his lips seeing her enjoy the chai.
"So my dear friend what's the weekend plan?" Swara asked enthusatically.
"Nothing big. Just my grandma and me."
"That's nice." She nodded and took another sip.
"You--"
"Hey babe!" Swara and Sanskaar turned around to see a young girl dressed in party wear that reached till her knees, hairs opened and tons of make up on her face. Sanskaar's eyes widened while Swara was still confused with the situation happening here.
"Natasha?" Sanskaar walked towards her. "You-- What are you doing here?" He asked still astonished with her sudden appearance in the cafe.
"Come on babe. Shouldn't I come?" Natasha threw her hands around his neck while Sanskaar shifted his gaze uncomfortably on the ground cursing.
"No that's not it nats, you know someone looks so beautiful today." Natasha's eyes quickly widened and she looked around.
"Who?"
"Tell the first letter I told you now."
"You-- Oh my! You are such a flirt." Natasha flushed and Sanskaar laughed. Swara blinked her eyes thrice as she sipped her chai. She never even imagined Sanskaar had such cheeky lines with him. She looked at both of them who were engaged in a conversation and every time he told something the girl laughed and he had this kind of smirk which made him more attractive.
Both broke into laughter when Sanskaar whispered something into her ears. Swara was actually quite surprised to see him flirt openly. He couldn't even stand their closeness when dancing but here he was flirting with a girl so easily but still she could see how he maintained distance even though the girl was literally throwing herself at him. For the past ten minutes they were standing and flirting and she got bored seeing them and his cold chai. She huffed, atleast she would have had it.
Something crossed her mind and Swara smirked. Maybe she should really spice up this thing.
Swara walked towards them and wrapped her arms around his biceps. Sanskaar was shocked but he quickly hid his expression. Swara felt how his muscles hardened at her touch but nevertheless continued her play..
"Who's this?" Natasha pointed at Swara with a frown. He swirled his head at her direction.
"My--"
"His girlfriend." Swara gave the best fakest smile of hers to Natasha and looked at Sanskaar sweetly.
"You never told me you have a girlfriend Sanky." Natasha yelled with her hands on her hips huffing.
"Uh--" Sanskaar didn't know what to say because he himself came to know just now that he has a girlfriend just like Natasha. Swara on the other hand had a urge to laugh hearing Natasha's harsh voice which didn't suit her looks.
"If you are done talking to my boyfriend then.." She tip toed and placed a peak on his cheek making Sanskaar shocked while Natasha burned. "I'm taking him with me Miss. Red lipstick and I really really hope not to see you again with him."
"What will you do?" The girl walked closer to Swara. Sanskaar eyes widened again. No way he wanted to witness a wild cat fight.
"Girls--"
"I'll handle her." Swara withdrew her hands from his biceps and crossed her arms near her chest and took a step forward too.
"If you don't want your Gucci heels broken, Your Wang's dress ripped and your beautiful face red with my hand printed by my slap then you can eye on him." Sanskaar looked at her amused. He never expected her to say that and the smirk Swara had put on was telling that she definitely meant each and every word.
"Do you think I will be afraid?" Natasha scowled at Swara.
"No b, should I give you a trial? No probs I'm always ready." Swara walked even more closer and Natasha's eyes widened in horror.
Throwing daggers at Sanskaar who had the I-don't-care-about-anything look she walked away stomping her heels in anger.
"Ah! My work's done. See I even threw a girl away from your list. I'm such a good friend, aren't I?" Swara winked and she sat back on the chair.
"Damn! I never expected that Swara!" Sanskaar sat on his place. He had no idea of Swara coming to them as his girlfriend and that kiss? His ears turned pink again as he sighed.
"Even I didn't. You were openly flirting with her while you hesitated dancing with me just this morning. Such a drastic change." Sanskaar grinned scratching his neck hearing her comment.
"Urgh.. it's just.." He trailed off but started again. "She was one among those sticky ones and come on yaar how long will I stare at the book and do my part job? I am a human too! A little flirting won't hurt, would it?" Sanskaar complained as moved closer the table. His school had only tagged him Mr. Nerd and nothing else and of course he needed a change. This was him in real.
Swara broke into a small laugh. She understood his point of view and admitted to it. Everyone needs some time for themselves and a little bit of flirt won't do anything wrong, right?
"I agree with you completely Sanskaar." He had gave a satisfied smile and leaned back on the chair.
"I'm so sorry Swara, the chai.." He looked at the chai which was completely cold. "I ruined our small party." Sanskaar said.
"Then--" Swara got up, placed the money for chai and took her things. "You owe me this time, a chai party with me." She smiled sweetly.
"Sure, Goodnight Swara." Sanskaar smiled warmly as he saw her leaving.
"Goodnight Mr. flirt." He heard her voice and her hands raised in the air, waving at him as she was walking away.
