3) Part One

I'd just known that it hadn't really been an accident.

I'd known it all along, but no one had listened to me. The world really wasn't all daffodils and rainbows after all.

Holding a hand to my chest, I  scanned the room for the same monster that had lurked within my dream, coming up empty. Something was here, it had to be. Inside, I was holding in a bubble of hysteria that was threatening to come out and when it did, I had no idea what I would do next.

The... thing had been vile, shooting out from nowhere when it had pushed my body violently off course as if it were a piece of trash. Only when I'd smacked helplessly against the pool edge had it disappeared from sight, leaving a vile scent in the air.

In. Out. In. Out. Just breathe, I told myself. Breathe.

Trembling, I sharply exhaled.

Its intent had been to kill me, and it had failed. It was coming to get me and soon.

"No one is going to save you, little girl. No one..."

"...I will take pleasure in watching you drown."

The voice sounded even more threatening now.

What the hell was I going to do? Another bolt of lightning almost had me screaming in fear. How was I-

A shadow in the corner of the room made me freeze. "Hello?" I asked shakily.

Outside, the thunder rumbled loudly. The sound of the wind increased. Looking down at the clock from the corner of my eye, I panicked when I saw that it was just one in the morning. "Who's there?" I whispered.

Nothing.

It would be hours before dawn.

I made sure to inch closer towards the bed rest, further away from the corner. "Please..." The same vile scent from my dream suddenly filled the air. I trembled. This wasn't happening... "Please..." I tried again, pleading with the invisible force that I knee was there. "Don't hurt me."

Again, nothing.

I was going to die. I knew it. My breathing quickened.

A strange hiss came from the corner followed by the sound of metal clashing. It sounded as if a sword was being pulled from a sheath but that wasn't possible.

I'm going crazy, I must be, I thought as I tried to look for an escape. When I saw something glint from the corner in the near-darkness I tried to let out a scream, but found my jaw locked in place.

What the hell was happening to me? I thought as I instead pressed my back tightly against the bed. I could feel splinters digging into my back. Black swirls filled my vision. I was going to pass out.

God, no... Panicking even more, I tried to climb off the bed - do anything in fact, but much to my dismay my whole body was frozen. NO!

This was it.

Not my best I know, but I found this really hard to write. I don't know why. It was really hard to capture her emotions.
