Part 2
Back at Alexandria, Rick and Daryl returned from their scouting trip, exhausted but carrying a strange sense of wonder. The day had been full of unexpected turns, and as they walked through the gates, they were greeted by the group, who had been eagerly awaiting their return.
Rick noticed the curious looks from the others-everyone was eager for news, for any hint of potential survivors or supplies. As they made their way to the main building, Rick and Daryl exchanged glances. Both had something weighing on their minds, something they couldn't quite shake from their encounter.
Glenn, Maggie, and the others were gathered inside the house, discussing their plans when Rick and Daryl finally stepped into the room.
"So, what did you find out there?" Glenn asked, standing up to greet them, a faint smile on his face.
Rick exhaled deeply, glancing over at Daryl. The two men didn't immediately answer, and the group's faces fell with concern. Daryl rubbed his hand over his face before looking at them all.
"You're not gonna believe this," Daryl said, his tone serious but a little softer than usual.
Rick nodded, leaning against the table. "We found a couple," he began slowly, looking at everyone's faces. "A man and a woman. They were... different."
"Different how?" Maggie asked, raising an eyebrow.
Rick sighed and ran a hand through his hair, still thinking about the strange encounter. "They were... together. Taehyung and Jihyo. They were completely different from anyone we've met out here. It's like... they weren't even part of this world anymore. The way they acted-how they were so connected, almost like nothing else mattered. They were... a little too perfect for this apocalypse, if you ask me."
Daryl leaned against the wall, his arms crossed, looking out the window as he spoke. "They were linked, you know? Their hands were always touching, always together. They didn't separate. It was like... like they were each other's only world."
A pause settled over the group. The idea of people so close, so together in a world full of chaos and loss was almost hard to comprehend.
Rick continued, "Jihyo... she was wearing a dress. A dress... in the middle of the apocalypse." He shook his head, still trying to wrap his mind around it. "She didn't look like she belonged here-like she didn't belong in this world at all."
The group was silent, taking in what Rick had said. Tara was the first to speak up, her voice soft but curious. "A dress? How could she wear that in this mess?"
Rick shrugged. "I don't know. But she was. And she looked... unbothered. Not worried. Not in a rush. They both had this... peace about them. And their connection was so real, you could feel it when you looked at them. It was like nothing in this world could touch them."
Michonne, who had been quietly listening, exchanged a glance with Carl before she spoke. "It sounds like they've got something that the rest of us have lost. Something we've been fighting for. But they seem so... different from all of us."
"Yeah," Daryl chimed in. "They're not like anyone we've met before. They're not running from walkers, not fighting every day. They're just... together." His voice softened as he spoke the last word, a hint of something deeper behind his usual tough demeanor.
Rick crossed his arms. "They said they have their own place. A camp. They've been surviving on their own. But when I saw them... holding hands like that, it hit me. We don't get that. Not anymore."
The group was quiet again, contemplating Rick's words. To see such a connection in this broken world was rare. It was a reminder of what they had lost, but also what they could still fight for.
"Did you try to convince them to come to Alexandria?" Maggie asked.
Rick nodded. "We did. But they didn't want to join up. They were... content with their life. Taehyung said they've made it this far on their own and didn't need anyone else. They have what they need, and that's enough for them."
There was a brief moment of silence before Glenn spoke. "It sounds like they've figured something out that we haven't. Maybe... maybe that's why they don't feel the need to come with us."
Carl, who had been listening intently, glanced at his father. "Do you think we could be like that? Like them?"
Rick paused, deep in thought. "I don't know, Carl. But it's something to think about. Maybe there's something we can learn from them."
Daryl stood up, heading for the door. "Well, they didn't want to come. So we leave 'em be. But it was... something. I won't forget it."
As the group continued to talk, a few of them exchanged glances, wondering what it meant to live like Taehyung and Jihyo. To live so freely, so peacefully, in a world that had been turned upside down.
Back outside, the wind rustled the leaves, and the silence of the moment seemed to settle over them all. It wasn't just about survival anymore. It was about remembering what it meant to live. To be together, even when everything else was lost. And maybe, just maybe, that was what they all needed to fight for.
