6) Police

Once they got downstairs they were each handed a granola bar before being rushed out the door.

"I got the time wrong, we're going to be late at this point. I'm sorry, we can get some lunch while we're out later too." Amy said as they all went into the car before she drove them all to the police station.

They arrived at the station with two minutes to spare from their previously agreed time with the police so they all went inside quickly.

"Hello, how can I help you all out today?" A man asked politely from the front desk.

"Hi, we're here to talk about my son and his friend's abduction. We just got them back yesterday and the police at the area where we found them told us to come to this station to try and get information about their abductors." Amy said as the others stood there somewhat awkwardly.

Jazzalyn and AJ both looked uncomfortable to be in a place like this, Cassie looked like she was trying to keep her happy facade on for as long as she could, and both Jack and Aiden looked not only uncomfortable but also nervous and overwhelmingly anxious.

"Oh yes, I was told about you guys showing up today. Give me one second and I'll call Officer Adam down to come and get you." He said with a small smile before calling the officer on his desk phone.

"You can go wait in the waiting room over there, he should be over here shortly." The man said before Officer Adam even answered the phone.

"Okay, thank you," Cassie said with a small smile of her own before everyone walked over to the waiting room and sat down in their own chairs, Aiden and Jack the farthest away from the group and closest to each other.

About five minutes later a tall man with short black hair and a cop uniform approached them.

"Hello everyone, I'm Officer Adam but you can call me just Adam if you would like. Now if you would all please follow me then that would be greatly appreciated." He said with a clearly forced smile before turning around and walking away, expecting the others to follow him.

The group got up and followed him quickly, not wanting to be left behind.

The officer suddenly stopped and turned around. "Alright, young man with no name as of right now please go into here, they will take your fingerprints and try to match your dental records so we can all know your name and then know your family after that. They will also question you about anything you remember so please be compliant," he said as he pointed to a room with an opened door.

Aiden stepped out of the group and into the room, waving bye to Jack as he did so.

Jack waved back sadly before rushing to catch up with the officer who had already begun to walk off again.

When the man stopped this next time it was at a closed door, "Jack, this is where you will be. This is an integration room but you're not in trouble, we're only trying to figure out what happened to you and your friend so please don't be intimidated." He said with the most care in his tone he had this entire time.

Jack nodded before going inside the room.

After that, the officer took Cassie, Amy, AJ, and Jazzalyn to a room with couches and large soft seats to question them as well, knowing they would get the most information from them.

In the room Aiden went into there was a lady with an ink pad and paper along with another lady who looked like a cop.

"Hey, baby my name is Betty and I need you to put your fingers on this ink pad and then on these spots of the paper for me so we can try to match them to hospital records to see what your name is and who your family is! It won't hurt at all, though, your hands will be stained for a few days from the ink." the kind lady, now known as Betty said as she turned the ink pad and paper to him.

"After you answer a few questions from Officer Morgan here you'll get some photos of your teeth taken so we can try to match your dental records as well so we know for sure you're you." She continued, pointing to the other kind-looking lady in the room as she said her name.

"Okay, I'll do my best to answer any questions but I don't remember much of anything," Aiden replied as he began to stamp his fingerprints onto the paper like Betty had asked him to.

"That's fine Hun, anything you know or even think you know can help us in the long run." Officer Morgan said with a smile as she moved to sit down next to Betty.

Aiden smiled back before the questioning began.

"Hello, my name is Officer Gina but you can just call me Gina or G if you wish. What's your name?" A lady asked Jack as soon as he stepped into the room.

"I've been told that it's Jack Jane," Jack answered as he sat down awkwardly in the seat across from the officer.

"You've been told? Did you not already know your name?" She asked, her tone was genuine and she seemed to truly be curious about the answer to the question.

"Well I'm sure I knew it at some point but as of yesterday no I didn't know it," Jack answered as he kept his head down, his eyes glued to the table in front of him.

"And what happened yesterday?" Gina asked as her eyes swept over his body, taking in his body language and noticing how uncomfortable and anxious he seemed.

"I woke up in some field with my friend and neither of us can remember anything from before yesterday. I was able to see what my name was based on the name on my phone and I was able to call my family to pick Aiden and me up because I had them labeled as 'mom' and 'mum' in my contacts. They took us both in and took us to the hospital. The doctor said that we were both majorly lacking vitamin D and that we're both on the more malnourished side of the weight scale but other than that we're healthy. Then we went to my house and Cassie showed us around the place before we took showers, ate dinner, and fell asleep." He answered as he played with the loose strings on his hoodie sleeve.

"How did you figure out his name is Aiden?" She asked, taking in all the information he was giving her.

"Well, I don't know for a fact that his name is Aiden. I just had this really foggy memory of being in a really really dark room with him and him calling himself Aiden K something. But I could have just made that up in my head." He answered, still not looking up at Gina at all.

"Do you remember anything else about the room? Were there any windows, was it cold, or hot, did it seem damp, were there leaks anywhere?" She asked, happy that he remembered that much but she would need more information if she could use anything to help find where they had been held.

"No, I'm sorry I can't remember anything other than it being dark." He answered, this time bringing his knees up to his chest and pulling his hoodie over his legs to make himself as small as possible in the chair.

"Are you positive? Because anything could really help us out in finding out where you were kept and who took you. Even if it's something so small as the color of the walls, that could be a big help." She pressed, really trying to get more information out of him.

"I- I don't remember anything other than it being dark, like almost pitch black. I don't think I could even see my hand if I put it in front of my face." He said quietly, he could feel tears begin to form behind his eyes, he could feel the lump in his throat and he hated it.

He didn't want to cry in front of this nice cop just because she was asking him questions he didn't know the answer to. He just felt so useless, so helpless, he felt terrible.

"Okay, well that's better than nothing. Do you remember anything else about anything? Not just the room but about what food you were given, if you saw anyone there, how they treated you, anything like that?" She asked, this time growing startled and concerned when she heard his reply.

"No, I don't I'm sorry." He answered as he choked back a sob.

Tears began rolling down his face as he tried to hide himself from her, his face red with embarrassment.

"Hey, it's okay honey, we can take a break, is there anything I can get you?" She asked once she noticed how distraught he seemed.

"Aiden." That was all he replied with.

"Okay, I'll see what I can do." She said before leaving the room, leaving him all alone.
