   an issue i have plentiful with fanfictions is /not/ that everyone is white, cis and fucking straight but rather how everyone is a carbon copy personality wise.

insecure, clumsy, perfect but not so perfect characters who are alwways sarcastic and a pushover. bland as fuck one dimensional bullshit

If you let the factors like that always impact you, it's sorta shallow to me? Like I feel as if relating to characters is more of a deep, personality level instead of "IM SAD BC SOMEONE CALLED ME A FAGGOT NIGGER"

I feel as if when some authors do its like a cop-out because readers won't care about the actual quality as long as you add a trans black male

I know it's something a lot of people will argue against, but I couldn't fucking care less if the mc was purple. If they have a fleshed out personality, that's all that fucking matters.

You shouldn't care if the mc is black. You shouldn't care if the mc is gay. You shouldn't tell a fic writer "it would be better if ___ was _____"
