It was a windy evening in Toadtown, winds were rushing through the town, and in the distance on the sea, a storm was on the horizon. At the Peach Castle, Peach and her friends were taking shelter in the castle that evening and sleeping over. A late season storm was coming off the ocean and going to cross through Toadtown at night. There had already been damage in other areas of the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and Luigi notably were not at the Peach Castle they were riding out the storm at their own house.

"Are you sure we shouldn't ask Mario and Luigi again if they don't want to come?" asked Toad

"We already have Toad and they don't want to come, we're going to be protecting all the doors in the castle, especially the main entrance we can't have any water or damage" replied Peach

Toad peeked outside the window to see flashes of light filling the sky, and the wind picked up. As nightfall came over Toadtown, the storm was settling in waves crashed along the beaches and quay. Within the town, the streets were empty as the wind whirled through the streets of terraced houses and in the park the creek was overflowing and the trees rustled in the wind.

At Mario and Luigi's house outside of the town in the suburbs, they had already retired to bed early. They expected minimal to no damage and thought Peach and their friends were being quite dramatic. At the castle, the lights were flickering and all the friends were in Peach's bedroom in their sleeping bags on the floor.

"Oh my this is SO FUN!!" exclaimed Toadette

"No it's not look at the door," replied Birdo nervously.

The balcony doors were shaking as the wind and heavy rain were taking place.

"Don't worry as long as we're in here everything should be fine. Toadsworth made extra sure the castle was prepared for the storm," replied Peach.

Soon everyone fell asleep and outside the storm continued getting stronger. At Mario and Luigi's house, they were sound asleep when suddenly. Luigi's eyes opened as he heard a large snap.

"What the hell was that??" asked Luigi to himself

He ran up to the window to open a curtain and gasped as he saw a large tree start to collapse. He went to go wake up Mario, to alert him abt the trees. Luigi was now wishing they had stayed at Peach's Castle.

"Maybe we should go to the castle??" asked Mario

"We can't go, do you see how bad it is outside," replied Luigi.

"Well I'm not staying here," replied Mario as he grabbed his keys.

"Wait for me," gasped Luigi.

In Toadtown the storm was continuing as the street lights were flickering throughout the storm. At the castle, all the friends were asleep but Toad was in the bathroom. He wasn't able to sleep because of all the noise. He walked back out into the hallway back to Peach's bedroom when suddenly. He heard a large boom and suddenly all the lights cut off inside the palace. Toad gasped as everything in front of him suddenly became pitch black. He then heard a large noise and some of the lights in the hallway turned back on. Suddenly the power cut back off again and that's when Toad realized the generator must've failed.

Outside on the streets Mario and Luigi were just arriving at the castle, all of Toadtown had completely lost power but luckily they had made it before the town went pitch black. Luigi saw that the door had been barricaded and Mario tried to look for an alternate entrance.

"Look there's a vent," pointed Mario.

"Here," replied Luigi passing Mario his screw.

Mario began unscrewing the air vent and they peeked inside.

"Oh it looks scary in there," replied Luigi.

Luigi and Mario began crawling into the vent to try and get inside the castle. In Peach's bedroom, everyone was sound asleep once again and even Toad had been able to get some shuteye. All of a sudden there was a large bang and everyone in the room woke up.

"What is that??" gasped Birdo nervously

"Is it a ghost?" asked Daisy

"NO IT'S A TOAD EATING MONSTER!" yelled Yoshi

Toad and Toadette screamed and began hugging each other in fear. In the air vents, Mario had accidentally fallen into a different vent which had caused the bang but Peach and her friends had no way of knowing what was going on. Peach picked up a phone near her bed to call security but there was nothing.

"Ugh, the power went out quick everyone we need to find ways to defend ourselves," Peach said.

Peach turned on her phone flashlight and Daisy pulled up her suitcase which had all sorts of sporting equipment in it.

"They might be robbers," said Peach annoyed.

Toad got a bat, Toadette got a tennis racket, Peach got a golf club, Birdo got a small tennis ball shooter and Yoshi got a plastic toy sword from Toad's suitcase which he had for unknown reasons. Daisy would rely on good old fist power to take down the robbers. They opened the bedroom door and crept down the dark hallways. Yoshi offered to patrol the kitchen, Daisy went to the guest rooms, Toadette went with Birdo to the bathrooms, and Peach and Toad went downstairs to the state rooms.

In the bathroom, Birdo and Toadette opened the door and peeked around. Toadette looked at the bathtub to see if anyone was hiding to find a bathtub full of standing water. Suddenly they heard a noise above them and then suddenly the ceiling broke. Toadette and Birdo screamed as Mario and Luigi fell into the bathtub. Water splashed everywhere, Toadette started whacking Mario and Luigi and they screamed.

"WE GOT YOU," screamed Toadette!

Birdo ran out of the bathroom to alert the others. In the hallway, Peach and Daisy were patrolling when suddenly they heard screams coming from the bathroom and then saw Birdo. They all ran back to the bathroom and Mario and Luigi were screaming at Toadette to stop.

"What the hell?? MARIO?? LUIGI??" gasped Peach

"Peach we had to break in we needed to get in," replied Mario as he got up from the bathtub drenched.

"You could've texted me," replied Peach

"Oh yeah, I didn't think of that," replied Mario.

Peach helped Mario and Luigi get out of the bathtub and took them to the guest room.

"Well you were a real hero Toadette," replied Birdo.

Toadette hugged her friend. It was nice to know she would be ready if there was ever a home invasion.
