The ocean is my friend

My love for it will never end.

She was there

We nobody else seemed to care.

When I'd reach for the stars

But they were too far

The ocean didn't forsake me

Instead she comforted me.

She was my only friend

Before I'd met the stars.

She never made me pretend

To be something I'm not.

She encouraged me to continue reaching for the stars.

I tried and tried again.

But they were too far.

I finally had one in my grasp.

But I hated the dark

I ran back to the ocean

She welcomes me back with open arms.

I told her the sky wasn't meant for me, as I longed for my feet to stay on the ground.

But occasionally when the ocean isn't near,

I look up, the stars calm my fears.

I once was lonely.

But who needs him,

When the stars and ocean know me?
