Chapter 11.
Grace
I can't believe another year is coming to an end. But I have to say I'm pretty darn proud of this one.
I'm loving my classes, I have great friends and am doing what I love to do, whenever I want.
For a second my mind flies to the memory of Ali and Blake kissing, but I remind myself it's for the best.
What good could a crush, and a silly one for that matter, do for me right now. Absolutely nothing. I have to be focused on school and getting that internship at UniStar and on that only.
Crushing on a guy would be a distraction and nothing else.
I'm having dinner with the girls at 8pm tonight. It's 5pm now. That gives me a good two hours to get ready and write my resolutions.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of changing yourself just because a new year is starting. If you want real change, you should start working on it right now.
That's why I only make one.
Buy a Sky-Watcher. I have been putting off buying this telescope the whole year. I almost have the money and I promise to myself I will but it as soon as I can.
With that done, I head to my closet to pick out an outfit.
Instantly I reach for a black top, but I stop myself. I meant it when I said I would listen to Ali's advice.
Instead I look for a sweater I'd bought a long time ago with Becky. I don't usually wear white, but today I'm feeling it.
I run through my closet to find a white camisole to go under it. Its v-line is deep just enough that a bit of lace can be seen.
I even pair it with ripped jeans, a very rare style for me.
Before I put it all on, I go to the bathroom and do my makeup.
I don't go to heavy, but I do pay a bit more attention to my eyes. I'm feeling good about myself and tonight I want to have a glow.
Since warm colours suit me better, I choose gold eyeshadow rather than silver. I leave my hair down and straight, and apply just a touch of a light-pink lip gloss.
It's already seven thirty by the time I'm done. I get dressed and put my essentials in my purse. My essentials consist of lip balm and lip gloss, my wallet, keys, tissues, my phone and some gum. Also known as the things I cannot leave the house without.
I step in front of my mirror and I have to say I'm very pleased with my look. I can't say I don't feel good in my skin.
I feel ready for the new year, I am going to crush it. I have to.

Another brunch with my mom went great. I do still feel bad about not spending New Years with her, but I know she's going to have a great time with her work-friends, just like I'm going to have a great time with my friends.
Some of our other teammates are coming over for a small gathering, because not that many have stayed at campus.
I'm happy all of us are here, all because of different reasons, but we all have each other.
I don't think it should get too wild tonight, except if Jimin and Tae had something to do with it, but as far as I know Jin threw this party together.
Because it doesn't start until at least 10pm, I'm going to read a bit before our guests arrive.
I have to admit I'm pretty proud of myself. During the vacation I bought a shelf for my books, only to realise I have way too many of them to fit on just one, but I'm working on it.
I've also started working on a piece for my room. I'm going to draw all over the wall behind my bed to make this room feel more at home for me.
I'm busy sketching on the wall when I start to hear voices from the living room. I guess the party is starting.
I just need to change and I'm ready to go.
I wanted to wear my usual black cargo pants, but Jimin forced me to "dress up". I think he wants me to be his and Taehyung's wingman. Sorry, brothers, that's not very likely.
Alright, let's get this year over with.
Grace
When I arrive at La Rosetta, the girls are already at the table and I'm pleasantly surprised. I wave at them and they greet me with the biggest smiles.
Becky's eyes look like they are about to fall out, and Maya's mouth is opened wide. Liza pulls herself together and says hi.
"Hey, girls," I say back and sit opposite Becky and next to Maya.
"Babe, you look great," Becky says.
"Thanks," I say and try to divert the attention away from me, "you all look absolutely stunning."
They really do.
Becky is wearing a pink shimmery short dress, Maya is in her essential colour again, in her blood-red skirt and crop top. And Liza looks killer in her black high-heel knee boots and black tight camisole and leather skirt.
On top of everything their hair and makeup looks flawless.
I start worrying about my own makeup now. I'm not good at it, what if I look like a clown?
I'll just go take it off when I go to the bathroom.
"Stop it, you look great," Becky says like she's reading my mind.
"Yeah, the eyeshadow looks so cool," Liza adds, while Maya shakes her head in agreement.
Okay then. I trust them to tell me things exactly like they are and I decide to go with it.
We get our food and Becky seems a bit out of it. She keeps checking her phone like every two minutes.
"What is it?" I ask her when she looks down at her phone for the hundredth time tonight.
"Hm?" She clearly wasn't listening.
"Who have you been talking to the whole dinner?" Maya chirps in so I don't have to interrogate Becky alone.
She looks up with deer eyes and I can already feel a change in our plans is about to happen.
And I'm right.
"So, listen..." Becky looks up at us, "are we a hundred percent sure we want to go to Con's after dinner?"
Judging by her tone the we is meant to be you, because she clearly doesn't want to.
We just stare at her blindly.
"Cuz' we just got invited to another party," she looks at us hopefully.
"Where?" Maya asks.
"Hoseok's house," Becky is starting to look a bit desperate now.
And Maya looks excited and a bit embarrassed at the same time. "Is Jimin going to be there too?"
That's right, they had a thing at Becky's birthday party. Now I feel bad for her, because she's hoping for something more, whereas Jimin probably thought of it just as a hookup. I can tell Becky and Liza think the same.
"Of course, he lives there too," Becky says and Maya is set to go, just like that.
Slowly Liza gives in, too and now all perfectly made-up faces are looking at me.
What else can I do than agree. A party is a party, and at least it won't be so crowded there.
"Let's go," I say and Becky's face breaks into a big smile.
