I am writing an open letter to one of the most complex characters of the Jayagatha,”Shakuni.”

Accept my greetings, O Son of Subala!

The people of Kaliyuga remember you as a soul which was tainted with lies, corruption, revenge and evil. Some people also regard you as the incarnation of dwapara but I regard you as a grey character who took his revenge in the most lethal way a man could take. You took your revenge, which was more lethal than the holocaust. You took your revenge by destroying the 80 percent of the male population of that time only by your brain and intelligence.

But my question is, “what do you get from that? Did your nephew become the king of hastinapur or did your sister become happy?”

And the answer to the above question is nothing, you didn’t get anything from your intelligence. Though you died by Saying, “gangaputra I completed my revenge. Your whole dynasty is finished and you are lying on the death bed of arrows!”

You could have used your knowledge and intelligence for the welfare of your nephews and your sister, but you haven’t used your knowledge to guide your nephews. You took pride in conspiring against the kuru's and that’s why people of modern aryavrata regard you as a man, “who destroyed the family of his sister.”

You know, people of Kaliyuga remember you by the men, “who orchestrated the dyut sabha”, which no one likes.  But sometimes, I feel like it was your masterstroke to make Duryodhana the emperor of the whole aryavrata till the fire born princess was staked and sometimes, I feel like the staking of draupadi was your masterplan to destroy the dynasty of kuru's.

But, you know, I have done some research on the history of Gandhar during the times of dwapara and after that I came to know that you had a very liberal thinking and that was the reason why Gandhar had very different rules from the whole aryavrata. Why didn’t you use your progressive knowledge in the right way? Your progressive thinking is also mentioned by the maharishi ved vyas in the karna parva when you cried for karna after his death.

I know you were the devotee of Lord Shiva and according to Sanatan dharma,  you had some positive elements in your character and that’s why the Kauravas community of Kollam district of Kerala has dedicated a temple for you. If you have wanted the whole aryavrata could have praised you for your intelligence but you choose your own path.

I know you had a twist in your life which no one knows as history is written by Victor’s!
