I sat there, watching my child read. Elena is beautiful. Wavy, blonde-white hair tumbled down her back, her dark blue eyes absolutely stunning, her pink lips pressed into a tight line. Her lips would have been perfect for a smile. But that was the problem. She never smiles. Not once, not ever.
I sighed for what felt like the hundredth time that day. I blew my dirty blond hair out of my eyes. Elena is constantly unhappy, having cardiomyopathy. Being confined to our home made Elena miss most of her childhood. Maybe it was my fault. My train of thoughts were cut short when Elena looked up from her book with a scowl etched on her face.
"Why are you staring at me like that." It wasn't a question, but a statement. Elena wanted me to look away. I couldn't help it.
Why can't I see you smile? Why won't you smile? I would give anything to see you smile.
She stalked out the kitchen, me watching helplessly. As always. She's 18, I might as well give her some freedom. But I can't.

Elena hated her life, she hated everything in it. The way the sun shone down on her, the summer breeze rippling through her body. Maybe it will be easier just to... It was simple.
She picked up a razer from the pencil sharpener, and cut it deep into her wrist. She bit her lips in pain, it hurt. But somehow the physical pain distracted her from the pain she felt inside. She subconsciously made her way across to the piano, fingers yearning to play a tune. Music always helped her in times like this.
Her fingers danced across the keys, intermingling with the blood dripping from her wrists. She played one of her originals, sorrowful and full of hatred, as the music mixed with her hate and fury.
Red droplets splashed across the white keys of the piano,as her eyes filled with unshed tears, blinding her from the horrors of the world.

It's how the world goes, you learn how to move on, but most importantly, you get up and live your life to the fullest. Elena gazed at the photo she always kept at her bedside table. It was a photo of James, her older brother, smiling at the camera. James was standing with his best friend, Ivy. Elena had stole the photo from his photo album when she knew that he had died.
Elena had always wondered if they were more then just best friends. She stared at the photo for a minute and she saw the words in the background. "And in that moment, I swear we were infinite." Elena sighed. She knew it. Ivy wasn't James' best friend.
Even though Elena never smiled, that didn't mean she never felt the need to feel loved.
Elena
My heart fluttered at the sight of the quote in the background. I wanted to be loved, loved by other than my mother. I wanted to have a shot at normal life. My days were numbered.
