jack manifold's stream

Absent-mindedly, George tapped on the keyboard, deftly moving the cartoon-like character on the screen as Jack continued talking, discussing stuff with George while he played. To be honest, George was more in his head today than he had ever been, the promise of green eyes and blond hair after the stream was tempting, too tempting. Focus, George. Focus. Slowly, he shifted his attention back to the stream, talking with Jack. For some reason, Jack seemed to soothe him enough that the raging waters in him stopped turning into hurricanes, and he slipped back into conversation with Jack, shifting in and out of his headspace. Green eyes and blonde fluffy hair still swam into his memories, demanding his full attention but he resisted. Though that pair of green eyes and fluffy blond hair was about as persistent as their owner was, lapping up against George's resolve like waves, waves that would eventually water him down.

Suddenly, Jack mentioned something that caused his ears to perk up. "I think Dream was talking about kissing you,"

George's heart thumped a little harder hearing that name, doing little cartwheels in his chest. He struggled to keep a straight face hearing that, the corners of his mouth twitching up slightly in amusement. Deciding to ignore the slight jab, for now, he grabbed the bottle of water on his desk, uncapping it and drinking it. Cool water ran down his throat, cooling the internal heat he was battling.

Somewhere behind a screen, Dream was wheezing. A giant grin crossed his face as he looked at the flustered state of his boyfriend, though most couldn't pick them up. The slight flush of his cheeks when Jack said that, or the shifty look in his eyes, the way his shoulders relaxed in his pink t-shirt as Jack said that. His eyes devoured the pixels hungrily as George swallowed his water, loving the way his water ran past his lips, trickling down his shirt.

Maybe he should get his head out of the gutter.

Beside him, Sapnap raised an eyebrow, but a knowing look lay behind his eyes, a smirk forming on his face. Dream glared silently at him, daring him to do something. Or not do something, depending on what he was about to do...

Sapnap simply tapped away on his phone, sending anxiety spiralling in Dream. "Sapnap!"

Barely throwing him a glance the younger man rolled his eyes, pausing only for a moment before resuming his rapid typing. Dream glared daggers into his skull, stabbing the back of his head over and over again. Finally, Sapnap gave a dramatic sigh, turning his phone so the blob could read the words.

Seeing the contact name, Dream let out an all-suffering sigh and shook his head, rolling his eyes. Karl, the contact name read, with more purple and red hearts that Dream thought was technologically possible. I swear, if this guy modified his phone just for this...

"I didn't do anything stupid, just focus on George." Came the half-hearted reply. I said that out loud didn't I? "Obviously."

Dream glared at him, "oh, so now you can hear my thoughts?"

"I can't, you just say everything you're thinking out loud when you get in your head. Or when you're with George. I can't wait for him to come over."

George over here? Dream felt his heart accelerate thinking of that. Suddenly, all he wanted to do was touch. To run his fingers through hazelnut brown hair, to hold him close. He wanted to know how George's body fitted against his, wanted to know how his lips tasted, wanted him next to him close to him, even if they ended up with arms in awkward angles. I want him here so badly, he thought. Want you here with me. Taking Dream's silence as a sign to leave the room, Sapnap silently slipped out, leaving Dream alone with his thoughts.

In the short minutes he'd been thinking, he'd missed George's answer. Shaking his head frustratedly, he tapped on the cursor, moving it back to show exactly what had happened...

George finally composed himself, putting the bottle down. "Okay, which time?"

"GEORGE!" Dream's loud voice echoed through the house, sending it vibrating. Distantly, he could hear loud, sloppy chuckles.

"You're a simp, dude!"

"Like you're any better!" Dream shot back. If he could, he'd chase after Sapnap for that. Still, the words brought a smile to his face. Knowing his boyfriend knew he was loved, that he was adored, made him happy. It was moments like these that made everything easier, made everything feel okay.

Sometimes the distance between them felt like a weight on his chest, or like a liquid in his lungs, weighing him down. It drowned him, but it felt like he was on fire. A fire he couldn't put out, no matter what. George only made the flames hotter, simmering even more, and Dream loved it. Adored it, the same way he adored the British boy. He watched just in time for Jack to burst out laughing, a look of "I am done here" evident in his face, the same way it was for most of their friends when the topic came up.

Silently, Dream wondered if they knew. But George said that's probably already suspected and Dream wasn't going to argue on that point. Still, the knowing looks and tweets were mildly unnerving. It wasn't easy having to hide it, harder still to bear being apart. But he'd gotten used to it over the years, even as the weight of the space between them grew heavy. But it was moments like this, moments when they are happy together, when they could tell and remember how much and how deep their love ran, that soothed Dream, closing the distance between them.

Because the distance between bodies didn't mean distance between hearts, and God would keep them safe while they were apart.

A soothing warmth swarmed Dream, and he sent George a quick text message. "You're such an idiot. I love you."

Almost immediately, he heard the phone ring through his headphones. He grinned at the familiar sound, at the song that had been on his playlist for ages. Sometimes all I think about is you, late nights in the middle of June.

That couldn't be truer now, except he thought of him every day.

Seeing Dream's text, the brunette on the screen chuckled, deliberately making eye contact with the stream for a split second. He knows I'm watching, Dream thought, a silky smile making its way into his face. He knows I'm there.

He loved seeing the way George melted in front of the screen, fond memories flooding his mind when he re-enacted a scene from Heatwaves with George.

"I burn you?"

"You melt me."

The words sent a feeling of déjà vu through Dream, only their version of it had been odder.

"I terrify you?"

"You destroy me."

George sighed, hesitating for a while before continuing. "It feels weird, Dream. I can't explain it. There's something about the way my heart beats when I'm with you. It's like I want you close, but when you get too close I get anxious, and it unnerves me. I love it, though. The way I feel when I'm with you."

"I don't have to worry about anything when I'm around you. I'm the happiest I am around you, there's nothing that can compare to that. The way I feel bolder around you, how I'm completely myself around you."

Dream felt his breath catch in his throat. George's voice was soft, almost breathy. Something in his stunning hazel eyes looked vulnerable and open, sincere. Dream wanted nothing more than to sprint over the ocean separating them. The words sent a feeling of warmth to his stomach, overwhelming warmth that could be compared to a beacon. "I feel the same way with you,"

"I love you, George."

"I love you, Dream."

Things picked up from there, and it'd been almost a year since they'd started dating. And his love for George only grew stronger.

If there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that I'm falling harder in love with you every day.

Giving the phone a quick glance, George let out a surprised chuckle, tucking his head in. But Dream didn't miss the flush of pink on his cheeks, and the light in his eyes when he saw the text. A wide smile crept over his lips, and he waited for his response. "Dream...Dream sent me something," George managed out, his hand lifted just under his chin. "and it was so funny because it was unexpected."

Jack looked at him with a confounded look in his eyes, but Dream swore he saw a glint of amusement somewhere in his eyes. A knowing look, almost. "What did he say?"

Dream's heart stopped for a moment.

"I can't say here, but I can show you. But you can't say or show anything on stream."

Jack looked sceptical for a second, before just going with, "Okay."

One, two, three, and ...

"GEORGE!" Jack's voice stunned Dream for a while. 'What happened? What did you-' but before he could send the second line of text, George sent in. 'don't worry, didn't show him what you sent. It was one of our jokes from a while ago. Love you too, miss you!"

A fire bloomed in Dream's heart, setting him on fire. He couldn't tell when they'd gone from that to this, to this ease that whispered I-love-yous and sweet texts were now sent comfortably, and every word was meant, every word was heard. And every word was treasured.

"Call when you're done?"

Mm-

Words slipped into his mind and he tapped against the screen once again.

I loved you as the moon,
You became my sun
On days where shadows are blue,
You were my clue
My secret to where to run
My love that came undone
Growing as time slipped by
With every little Hi
But when my love was returned
It was then that I had learned
That love was not love
That came from above
love was something that came from the heart
Even if it was hard
And mine beats faster still
Even as the winters chill.
One thing I'm sure of in the day
I fall more in love with you everyday
