Chapter Forty

*Mature content*

A vow is a lifelong commitment of how one will act. So many people take these earnest and sworn words for granted or lie about them; even in front of a priest. They swear to always love and cherish... until they no longer do. But when these promises are kept true, they're strong and they hold tight.

But listening to Chandler and Sienna's words, seeing their cries, I know they mean their words. The two of them hold hands and stare into each other's eyes. There's so much love and passion that I'm not sure how they can keep from sealing their marriage.

He vows to love her and their children for as long as he'll live. She vows to hold him to it, causing laughter to fill the space. He vows to protect her and Sienna does the same. The two of them share how they came together, how they loved, and how they'll continue to love. Sniffles and wet faces are a result of their words.

The grip on my arm tightens as Seren hugs herself closer. It's a rooftop wedding and the wind blows firm and unjust around us, though no one seems to care. It's a beautiful affair and I don't think anyone would protest the location.

Then they're finally able to exchange rings and kiss. Cheers sound around us along with clapping and stomping. The married couple walk down the aisle where a white rug lays, grabbing their son on the way.

"That was actually kind of beautiful," Seren whispers to me as we stand with everyone else. She wraps her arms around my waist and I envelope her before deciding giving her my suit jacket is better. "I might just propose one of these days, Sutton. Don't get surprised to find me on one knee."

I know she's teasing, but I can't help the butterflies I feel in my stomach. Smiling down at this beautiful woman, I kiss her cheeks before we're ushered out. It's time for the reception where everyone will party and get drunk.

The wedding party goes first, as it should be, then the guests follow.

"Jesus, they didn't even have that many people and there's still a lot of traffic," Seren says from her place behind the wheel. She shifts and pulls at her silk dress. The lavender fabric is doing something strange to me, but also very appreciative. "I'm ready to taste rich people's champagne."

A boisterous laugh leaves me as I look at her with wide eyes. "Seren... you and I both know you can afford rich people champagne."

"Okay, let me rephrase." She glances at me with a grin. "I'm ready to taste rich people's champagne that I didn't buy. It'll taste much better that way."

With a shake of my head, I let us fall into silence. Our hands fiddle with each other as we listen to the soft music that plays through the radio. Everything around us feels like a dream. So many things have happened in the past year; good and bad.

All I can do is be happy that we've come this far.

"The Hustle" blares through the speakers. People do the dance in a stumbling fashion from the alcohol in their system. Seren herself is out there and she throws her head back whenever someone bumps into her. The blonde locks swish against the top of her ass after growing out for the past year. Her hourglass figure looks scrumptious in her dress and she's easily one of the most beautiful women in this room.

Someone drops into the seat next to me. I look over and connect eyes with a newly married Chandler Novak. The smile on his face is permanent and there for the night. He leans back in the chair, his eyes trained to his wife who spins with her babbling baby in her arms.

"Done dancing?" I ask, resting an elbow on the table and smiling at my boss.

He shrugs, but shakes his head. "Just thought I'd come see what my assistant is thinking. Shouldn't you be on the dance floor?"

"I'm a bit of an awful dancer," I tell him, grinning wide and returning my eyes to the guests. I've lost Seren with the crowd, but I know she's safe. "Seren's enjoying herself though and that's all I care about. She's a sight, to be honest. And I think she may be one of the only sober ones there... even a few of those kids look drunk."

"You know, Sutton... I'll admit that you've proved me wrong. Before, when I told you to be careful, I was wrong. One terrible experience blinded me, but I shouldn't have used that as a way to tear you down. I was very out of line for that. Believe it or not... if I knew you two would stay together, I wouldn't have meddled like I did."

Furrowing my eyebrows, I regard him with a confused look. It's been so long since we've had that discussion. Now, it's just a distant memory. While I had been angry at the time, I can appreciate that Chandler had just been looking out for me.

I give him a smile and reach over to pat his shoulder. Shrugging, I shake my head and cross my arms into a relaxed pose. "That's in the past now, Chandler. I know you only had my best interests at hand. That's okay, but nothing will ever change how I feel about Seren."

"And how do you feel?"

"She hangs the sun for me." I laugh, the sound light and quiet. "I've never loved someone before, but I know this is what it feels like, and this is it. I look forward to waking up next to her and spending our day in bed. Our dates give me life because anything with Seren is a good time. Even if that consists of us just watching a movie on her couch. Being away from her makes me feel sick and all I do is miss her.

"Whenever I picture myself doing anything, Seren is by my side. For the rest of my days, she's there and I wouldn't want it any other way. It's funny because she made a joke earlier about her proposing... but she doesn't know that I wouldn't hesitate to say yes. I love her and I'm ready to spend the rest of my life with her."

Arms wrap around me after a hefty silence. The surprising gesture causes me to jump and I turn to see just the woman I've confessed my love for. The glossy sheen on her eyes doesn't go unnoticed as a single tear falls. And giving me a watery smile, Seren presses her lips to mine.

"I love you so much," she whispers against my lips. "So much."

We spend the rest of the reception in each other's arms whether that's dancing or sitting at our designated table. It's not our wedding, but this night has become about the two of us and not anyone else. There's only Seren and I.

Before the party ends, the two of us sneak away. We can't keep our hands off of each other the whole way there. And when we get home to Seren's apartment, we fumble all the way to her door. As soon as it's unlocked and we enter, our clothes are coming off.

"I've never loved someone as much as I love you, Sutton," Seren whispers, cupping my cheeks and kissing me over and over. She yanks at my shirt until she pulls it off of me. "Unzip me." When she turns, I yank her zipper down and watch it pull around her feet.

Turning, she pulls me into her and connects our lips again. We don't make it anywhere. Not the room, not the couch, not even a wall. Instead, we fall to the faux fur rug Seren bought several months ago. The softness over the fabric has made for a long list of nights on it where we haven't been able to make it to a higher surface. That's something that hasn't changed. Our sex drive.

Kissing down the center of Seren's border—between her breasts, to her navel, and down—I bury my face into her sopping pussy. Placing her leg over my shoulder, she moans delicately above me as I swipe my tongue over her without stopping.

Before long, her legs are shaking around me and she's reaching her peak. I'm gifted with her delectable sounds; moans, groans, huffs and puffs. Lifting my head from between her legs, Seren's chest heaves with her breathing. Catching a hardened nub in my mouth, I suck the pink tip and nibble it.

"I love you," I mutter against her chest.

"I love you," Seren says back before grabbing my face and pulling me to her.

We kiss again as I move up and bury my cock inside of her. The deep breath Seren takes gives me time to press my tongue against hers. Everything feels deeper today—our kiss and our love making.

Each thrust I give is slow, but hard. We feel so much more and I guess it's true what they say. Being with someone you love is just so much better. As I continue to love Seren, there's a tightness in my stomach. Her pussy clenches around my cock, milking it, suffocating it. All until the two of us come around and against each other.

We shift and she climbs on top of me. Without a chance to catch my breath, Seren envelopes me again. Rolling hips makes me completely lose my mind. The pace is slow and intense. Things differ from today and I know it's because we've said that four letter word for the first time.

Lifting up, I hug Seren to me so our chests touch. We moan together, breathe together, scream together. She comes again, throwing her head back and pressing mine into her neck. I peck, nip, and kiss at her tender flesh.

I hold Seren to me in a tight grip, not wanting to let her go. For however long she'll have me, we'll do everything together. For however long she'll have me, I'll love her and even beyond that.
