Chapter 12: Dearly Departed Sister

As you stormed down the stairs worry and anger radiated off of you. How could she take my baby?! I don't care if she was conceived out of rape, she's my baby. Not Vieri's. Mine. Her name is Theodora Auditore; not Theodora de'Pazzi. She's Ezio's daughter as far as I'm concerned.

Your thoughts were interrupted when you hear Claudia calling your name as she ran after you, "(F/n)!" you stopped in your tracks and you looked behind your shoulder.

"What?" you asked harshly. You never took that tone with her before. You were beyond furious. You just wanted to get your little girl back as soon as possible.

"I think you should wait for Ezio." she pleaded with you. You let out a scoff and turned on your heels to look at her.

"You really think I should wait for him?" you sneered, "Do you realize he won't be back for weeks or months?" you shook your head, "I can't wait for him. I need to do this on my own. A mother protects her young!" you breathe heavily, "Lucia has awoken the dragon and she will pay."

"You are going mad with revenge." she told you, which made you roll your eyes.

"Of course I am." You scoff, "How could I not. Lucia took away everything from me. My parents, my home, now my only child." Tears then began to run down my cheek, "You tell me to wait for Ezio. By the time he comes back, Teodora could be dead if she isn't already." You then wipe your eyes with the back of your hand, "I won't let her do that."

Claudia sighs and placed her hand on your shoulder, "I-I just don't want you to do anything you're going to regret."

"I told her that I would kill her." you tell her firmly, "I won't regret fulfilling that promise. Lucia deserves to die. I need her to die."

Claudia nodded and took her hand off your shoulder, "Just...be careful, alright." she said, "I need you to come back so you can be my sister-in-law. You let out a laugh through your tears and you hugged her tight.

"I already consider you my sister." you tell her and you step away from her, "Goodbye, Claudia." you gave your future sister a small smile, "I'm going to Venezia after I get Teodora." you told her. She nodded and pulled away from you.

"I wish you the best of luck." Claudia says. You then turn back on your heels and walk down the steps. You walk out of Monteriggioni's gates and mount your horse.

You then force the horse to gallop and you make your way to Firenze, "Mama is coming." you breathe out over and over. You haven't been back to Firenze since your parents died. You wished you didn't have to go back. You wished you had Teodora with you. You wished you were heading towards Venezia. That just wasn't the case. You had to rescue your daughter. Venezia (and Ezio) had to wait.

In the manner of just a couple of hours, you arrive just outside the gates of Firenze. You hop off your horse and run inside the city. You knew this city like the back of your hand. You push past crowds of people walking the streets. Behind you, you hear men and women shouting at you to he more careful. You even heard someone curse at you. If only they knew what you were going through.

You then stopped in front of a very familiar villa; where you born; where you were raised. Your family villa. You let out a breath as you gaze at your family home. Your father you and Lucia that your home has been there since the first century AD. Since after your ancestors escaped Pompeii during the eruption of Mt Vesuvius, so your father used to say.

From the outside, it looked like any other home around her, but on the inside, it was like turning back in time to ancient Rome. Beautiful Roman frescoes painted the plastered walls. Statues of Roman gods like Venus and Minerva could be seen throughout the halls and in the garden. Roman vases on pedestals, greyish-blue marble flooring. A very beautiful home.

You look around and I strangely don't see any guards around the entrance. You place your hand your sword handle and cautiously walk towards the villa entrance. You then open the door slowly and walked in and close the door behind you. You still didn't see any guards. Either Lucia is stupid or too confident. Then again, is there really a difference between the two.

You look at the frescoes of the walls and run your fingers around the painted figures. Pictures of men, women, animals, and architecture littered the plastered walls. This place was home. The villa in Monteriggioni was home as well, but your family villa was the place you grew up in.

"I'm home papa." you whisper and you felt tears fall down your cheeks. The silence was then broken when you started hearing a child crying from one of the upstairs rooms.

"Teodora!" you gasp. Just as you were about to run up the stair you were stopped by a sword at your neck.

"Where do you think you're going, sorella (sister)?" Lucia asks as she cocked her head to the side.

"Lucia." you hiss.

"Sì." she smirked, "I'm so happy you came." she says.

"I only came for my daughter." 'and to kill you' you wanted to add. You hear your sister scoff.

"Your daughter?" she rolled her eyes, "Juliet is mine."

"Juliet?" you frown, "Her name is Teodora."

"What kind of name is 'Teodora'?" Lucia scoffs, "What an ugly name, you were always bad at picking names."

"One, I name her Teodora because it means 'gift from God' and that is what she is." you tells, "And two, you always had a horrible choice in men." you smirk.

"Don't you dare talk about Vieri!" she shouted, "You have no right to talk about him puttana!" she hissed, "You temptress! Succubus!" you almost wanted to laughs.

"Call me whatever name you like, but the fact is that he never loved you, sorella." you tell her, "Right before he..had his way with me for the first time he told me he had eyes only for me." you tell her the hard truth, "He tied me to a bed and took my innocence and told me over and over again that he loved me like the sick bastard he was. All I could do was cry and wish for Death's sweet embrace."

"Shut up!" she growls.

"That was the man that you killed our parents for!" you raised your voice, "You turned you into a monster! The sister that I once loved, admired; she's now gone." you turn to look at her. Her green eyes filled with hatred, "You loved a rapist."

"If he was truly a rapist, why didn't you get rid of her?!" she shouted and pointed her sword in the direction of where the crying child was.

"Because she is my child, not his, mine." you turn around and point your sword at her, "She is not my rapist's child, she mine." you felt tears run down your face, "And I will not let you take her away from me like you took mama and papa from me." you hiss through your tears, "I am not weak like I was when mama and papa!" you shout and then you attack her.

Your swords clash together and you swing it again and again in a fit of rage, "You could have just eloped!" you shouted, "If you really wanted to be with that horrible man you could have run away and got married!"

"You think it's that simple ragazza stupida (stupid girl)?!" she yelled back and then dodged your next attack.

"Sì, I do!" you yelled and kicked her stomach. She quickly gasped for air and just as you were about to deliver a fatal blow she dodged it.

"Father would have found us forced me to end our marriage!" she tried to explain, "I did what I did for Vieri and I. Mother and father had to go!"

"If the marriage was consummated, then it is a valid marriage by law, and in the eyes of God." you tell her, "Father wouldn't have been able to end it!" you then parry one of her attacks and punch her in the nose. She stumbled back and held her nose, "You made a horrible, stupid, rash decision. You killed our parents because you thought it was the only way to be with your 'beloved' Vieri.

All of a sudden Lucia runs towards you. Before you could react she knocked you to the ground, your sword falls out of your hand and sliding across the room. The first thing you hit was a table and some things fell off it. You land on your stomach and quickly try to scramble to your sword. Lucia was quicker. She grabbed you by the collar and flipped you onto your back and pinned you to the marble flooring.

You struggle to get out from under her. You began kicking and growled as you tried to push her away. She laughs at your failed attempts, "Not weak anymore?" she scoffed and then grabbed your neck with both of her hands. She then began chocking you. You start to panic at the lack of oxygen going to your brain. You try to gasp for air as you look up her smirking face. You try to pry her hands from your neck, but she only lifts your head up and bashed it against the floor. You wanted to scream out in pain but couldn't get it out of your lungs.

"You will always be weak, little sister." she sneered into your ear, "After you're dead, I'm taking Juliet with me to Roma where she will marry Rodrigo Borgia's son, Cesare, when they come of age." you began to see dark spots in your vision, "She will know nothing of you." you quickly turn your head and see a bronze bust on the floor. It looked to be within reach. You reach out for it and manage to grab it. It seemed heavy enough to do damage. You then hit her on the side of her face.

She screamed out in pain and released you as she fell on the floor. You gasp for air and hold your throat and began coughing. You quickly got to your feet and got on top of Lucia. You saw some blood run down her forehead.

"Remember that promise I made to you the day you killed mama and papa?" you sneered as you held the bronze bust tightly in your hand. Your other hand held her neck tightly.

"Very well." she hissed and spit at your face. You close your eyes and wipe the bloodily fluid away with disgust.

"I intend to keep my promise." you hiss and lifted the bronze bust over her head and hit her skull with it over and over again. Blood hit your face and began covering your hand. You hit her with the blunt object until you could barely recognize her. Tears streamed down your cheeks because you finally avenged your parents. You the angerly lift Lucia's corpse by her collar and scream in her distorted features.

"Ti maledico! Ti maledico nella parte più profonda dell'inferno! Ecco dove appartieni! Ti meriti un'eternità di tortura, mostro! (I curse you! I curse you to the deepest part of Hell! That's where you fucking belong! You deserve an eternity of torture, you monster!)" You scream. You then drop her and threw the bronze bust across the room and began sobbing. You look at her body and couldn't believe you killed her in such a brutal way. Your breathing shakes as you look down at your bloody hands. You had to get the blood off you. You try not to look at the body as you stand up and saw a full water dish you could clean yourself with. You dip your hands into the cold water and wash off the blood. You then splash water on your face. You then hear your daughter crying again.

You let out a breath of air and quickly run up the stairs. You found your baby in a nursery and look inside the crib. You began sobbing once again and picked her up. You held Teodora tightly in your arms and kissed her cheek.

"Never again." you whisper, " I will never leave you again." you say as she continued to cry in your arms.
