To You Whom I Left
"Hey..." A sweet melody drifted into this hollow expanse of my mind.
"Hey...Hey...Hey" She sang, her words echoed tender and sweet.
Ah how I've missed her voice.
My eyes fluttered open, Light flooding my vision, piercing through the haze. Enveloped by the blanket of calm, I sat awake.
The taste of iron lingered in my mouth as I coughed up blood, Yet I heeded it no mind and turned to the left. There she was, perched on her golden throne, bathed in elegance and splendor. Hair flowed like golden silk, her beautiful hazel eyes staring back at my browns, shimmering with the same brightness I once knew. She smiled, radiant as the sun, her hands resting gently on her cheeks.
"Good morning," she murmured, her voice a soft lullaby.
Her gown, woven with threads of gold, danced around her. The porcelain glow of her skin, dusted with gold, shone even in the surrounding darkness.
My gaze never faltered, it was fixed on her and only her.
My biggest mistake.
"Am I your biggest mistake?" she purred, her tone a teasing melody. "Or your deepest regret?"
Forgive me.
She laughed. Gentle and musical ladened with warmth and joy. It flowed with ease, untouched by malice, a song that had once soothed my troubled soul.
I remained silent, my smile the only reply.
"Why the smile?" Her voice wrapped around me, both comforting and distant.
A reminder of what was lost. A woman whom I loved, a woman whom I've hurt and abandoned. Forgive me.
Tears fell freely from my eyes, overwhelmed by the unbearable pain. My body trembled, and blood flowed freely from my mouth.
Forgive me.
"Let it go." She whispered.
Slowly she leans forward, her hazel eyes piercing through my soul. "Let me go." She murmured. Each word a knife, tearing through my heart.
"I can't." I cried.
"Let it go." She whispered.
