Dust

-"How could this have happened?"

-"Who did this?!"

-"Is he alright?"

-"Alex call Doctor Stinson! Now!"

-"Who could have done this?!"

-"Give the guy some space! he's bleeding to death!"

I heard all this but I couldn't see anything. the voices were different and I couldn't recognize them. I tried opening my eyes but I only saw blurry figures in a blurry background and before I could say anything, I passed out again and the voices stopped.

Next time I opened my eyes, everything was quiet. everything was blurry and it took my eyes a couple of seconds to adjust and I saw my Casablanca poster. I groaned a bit and slightly rolled over which made me yelp.

-"Hey hey hey easy no! you're awake!" I looked up to see Alex sitting by my bed.

-"W-wha..." I said and he got up, opening the door.

-"Dad! Doctor! Elsa! he's awake!" Alex yelled and not a minute later, Alpha, Elsa, Doctor and even Ignis ran in.

-"W-what's going on here?" I asked and moved a bit but regretted it immediately and held my shoulder.

-"You shouldn't move so much tonight. it's not good for your scar." Doctor said. Doctor Stinson was in our pack and family doctor ever since I could remember. he was mostly bald but the hair on the sides of his head were silver and cut short and he wore a glasses. he was wearing a light grey suit and white shirt with a light blue tie even though it was very late at night.

-"You have scars and bruises and bite marks almost everywhere. but they're not too serious and are expected to heal within a few days. but that on your shoulder, that's a big deal." he said.

I looked at my shoulder and just realized that I was only wearing a shorts. someone must have changed my clothes. I looked at my shoulder and even through bandages, I could see three big, long and deep scratches running from my left shoulder to my chest. it was still red and burned when I moved it.

-"It's a very deep scar. it's probably caused by very sharp fangs-"

-"Claws." I said, cutting him off.

-"It doesn't matter. I disinfected and cleaned and it should be fine but those marks are too deep to heal. I'm afraid you just have to get used to them cause their marks are gonna stay."

-"That's the least of my worries now..." I said and rested my head. "how did you find me?"

-"We heard your howl. it was really loud." Alex said. "Ignis and I went after you and found in the middle of the street. the people probably thought it was some dog fight so none bothered to come and check. we got you and brought you home and called Doctor."

-"You and... Ignis?" I looked at him then at Ignis and he nodded.

-"Dust, what happened?" Alpha asked and sat on the bed. "who attacked you?"

-"I don't know... I was walking home and I saw these wolves. they shifted into human when they saw me like they were giving me a sign. there was one with leather jacket, one with long hair and another one with ginger hair and a scar on his face. they attacked me in their wolf form. I tried to fight them back but they were trained and I couldn't take them alone."

-"But why did they beat you up? what were you even doing in town that late?!" he asked. I sighed.

-"They weren't satisfied with my mate..."

-"Your mate? w-what are you talking about boy?" Alpha asked confused.

-"I...I found my mate..." there was a couple of seconds of silence in the room.

-"You found your mate...why didn't you tell me? who is she?" Alpha asked.

-"She's the girl who was at the Christmas party. the red haired girl." Alex said.

-"I don't understand. why should they beat you for her?"

-"She's a human..." Elsa said slowly.

-"What?! Dust is this true?" Alpha asked surprised. I sighed again.

-"Yeah, yeah she is. she's a human and my mate. I figured it out when she got too close to mansion one day and I was gonna scare her off and accidentally touched her and...I felt it. she's my mate. she lives in town alone..." I said and suddenly realized. "Alex! she's all alone! they could-"

-"Don't worry bro. way ahead of you. I checked her place, it was fine. I told one of the guys in town to guard her place." he cut me off.

-"I still don't understand. why would they beat you for that? you're not the first werewolf to have a human mate."

-"I don't think that's the reason they beat him Henry." Doctor said as he took off his glasses and cleaned it.

-"Doc is right. it's just an excuse. he wants to show off his power." I said.

-"Who does?" Alpha asked.

-"Alpha Liam."

-"You think my uncle did this?" Ignis asked.

-"I don't know, but maybe you should tell me."

-"Me?!" he asked surprised.

-"Yeah, you. isn't it kind of odd that I got attacked on the very same day you arrived here?"

-"This is ridiculous. I didn't even know you had a mate and you were gonna see her."

-"You could have overheard me on the phone. I was talking in the dining room and you could have overheard everything! then what did you do? called your uncle and he sent his thugs to show his power?"

-"Dust!" Alpha said. "he was in my office with me. Jonah lead him there and we got talking. non of us left that office for the next half an hour."

-"But...then how did they know about me? about Robin?"

-"I don't know but I'm gonna find out!" Alpha said angrily and got up and walked around the room before stopping in front of the window. "two against one, beating my Beta in the middle of the town! it's outrageous!"

Then there was a few seconds of silence.

-"Well I should be going, it's very late." Doctor said. "take care Dust, and try to rest more until that scar gets better. later, Henry." he said and walked out of the room without waiting for the reply.

-"Dust..." Alpha said and I turned my face towards him. "this mate of yours, Robin, does she know anything about us? or being mated with you?"

-"No..." I said.

-"What are you gonna do about her? cause it's too late for rejecting her. whoever did this to her knows her and that makes her and obvious target. mate or no mate."

-"I didn't want it to come to this. I didn't want her to be in trouble because of me. I should have rejected her sooner..."

-"It's too late for feeling sorry now. if you're gonna reject her, you can do it later. but now, she has to know everything so she can be safe. when you see her next time, you tell her everything and bring her here. it's the safest place right now." he turned to us then. "whoever did this to you, had an intention. it was a message and I got it. somebody wants a war and I have my suspicions. "he said and peeked at Ignis and sighed. "take some rest. we'll figure it all out." he said and walked out the door.

-"Yeah you need some rest. we gotta go too bro. sleep tight." Alex said and walked out the room with Ignis who was silence this whole time. and then there was only Elsa in the room. her hair was braided and hanging by the side of her head and was wearing a short and t-shirt. I looked at her and she looked back silently.

-"Listen Elsa, the other day I was angry and confused, I didn't know what I was saying and I acted like a real jerk. I just don't want to continue this anymore. so I guess I wanna say... I'm sorry." I looked at her. she smiled slightly and sat on the edge of the bed.

-"You really gotta work on your temper." she said.

-"Yeah I know." I sighed.

-"So, what are you gonna do? about Robin?" she asked.

-"I...I don't know. a month ago I would have told you I was gonna reject her without hesitation. but now, I'm not so sure. I don't want her to get hurt because of me and I can't just let her go too."

-"What changed your mind?" she asked.

-"...I think I love her. I know it's stupid and cheesy but I really think I do. no wonder she's my mate."

She was silent for a few seconds that made me turn to her and look at her.

-"It's...not stupid. you love her. you're supposed to love her. she's your mate after all. and I would love to see my brother in his wedding suit." she smirked. I chuckled a bit.

-"Wedding... sounds like a different world from what we're living in."

-"That's cause it is. take care." she said and got up to leave.

-"Elsa?" I called. she turned to look at me.

-"he's not gonna make you marry Ignis. you know that right?" she smiled slightly.

-"That's what I'm afraid of." she said and walked out the door and closed it behind her. I rolled over in my bed slowly to not cause more pain. I looked up at the roof and tried figuring out a way to talk to Robin and tell her everything. I had no idea when or how I was gonna tell her but it was not gonna be easy.
