Dust

-"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" I said as I stormed in my room and shut the door behind me. I panted and looked around my room. the bed was made and maid had cleaned the room. the room was simple really. I tried to modernize it as much as possible and keep it away from mansion's old design so now it looked more like a hotel room. the only framed pictures on the walls were posters of my favorites movies-The Rear Window, Casablanca, Psycho, Some Like it Hot, Vertigo, Charade, Strangers on a Train, Gone with the Wind and The Rope- and in front of my bed was a big screen tv with two grey couches, a game console and a coffee table. my dark brown book case was on the other side of room and filled with mystery novels.

Nothing seemed different. I rushed to the bathroom and checked myself in mirror. also, nothing was different. I stared at myself for a while, trying to figure if there was something different but nothing. my hair was just as always, brown and long in back, parted in center and flopping down over my ears and a bit messy. I guess I was hoping that streak of white in my hair that I absolutely hated would have disappeared but no. it was still there smirking at me.

I was born with it. a natural cross that I have to bare because of my parents. that's what happens when your parents are not mates, a natural birthmark, like a streak of white hair.

I walked out of the bathroom and looked around the room once more. everything was normal. and that made me mad. I growled and punched the wall as hard as I could. this was the only way I knew how to calm myself: punching and breaking stuff. surprisingly it worked too but I was told I have a hot temper and I have to learn to control it which wasn't successful by then.

even if it was, this was definitely the time to be angry. I had found my mate! and she was a human! out of all werewolves, this could not have happened to me. I couldn't stand it! fortunately before I break something else in room I heard a knock on the door.

-"Hey Dust you in there?" a voice called from behind the door. it was Alex, son of current Alpha and future Alpha.

-"Yeah in here Alex."

-"Yeah my dad wants us to meet him in his study now." he called. I sighed and took a deep breath, slowly taking control of my temper.

-"Alright fine but...I just came back from my run.I need a shower. I'll be there in 15."

-"Cool I'll see you then." he said and then I heard his footsteps getting further and further.

I took another deep breath and headed in bathroom once more. I took all my clothes off and hopped in shower. the feeling of hot water running on my body relaxed me. I let the water wash away the filth of forest and my anger down. ten minutes later I got out and dried myself with my towel. I swiped my hand on steamed mirror and cleared it to see my reflection. my emerald green eyes that were staring right back at me in the mirror were calm now. I walked out in room and opened my wall closet and looked through it to find something suitable to wear for the meeting.

finally I picked a grey shirt and black jeans. I put them on and looked in mirror to adjust them. at final I just ran my hand through my hair to make it a bit presentable. the truth is that I wasn't a hair brushing guy. I liked it a bit long and that just made it messier than usual but I guess it just made me, me.

I walked out of my room and walked downstairs to Alpha's office. Alex was waiting there for me. he was tall and really white, almost pale. his straight blond hair covered his forehead and up to his baby blue eyes. despite his hard tryings, he was never able to grow a beard or even a hair on his face... or anywhere else for that matter. I think he was too white. but we were always like brothers since we grew up together too. I looked around the room to find out we're not alone. Elsa was there too.

Elsa was Alex's twin sister and was quite similar to his brother. same pale skin and blue eyes but the difference was that her hair was long and her face was thinner with a smile and reveal of her perfect white teeth she would become a living version of Barbie doll. but her similarity to her brother was just based on looks. unlike Alex, she was spending most of her time online and on her phone and the rest, wearing makeup and changing dresses. I can't really give a comment about her except that she's more sly than she looks. as always she was siting with one leg over another and staring at her phone screen.

-"Hey man. I thought you took a shower." Alex said.

-"I did..."

-"Then why does your hair still looks like hell?" he smirked.

-"Like you ever saw my hair looking neat." I said.

-"I can fix that!" he walked over running his hands through my hair, tidying it up a bit.

-"Hey stop it!" I said annoyed.

-"Why? I'm just styling it!"

-"It already has a style!"

-"Yeah center parted and long? we're not in 90's anymore!"

-"I like and it looks good!"

-"It's messy!" he said.

-"Not that messy! and also it looks good! you just wanna mess with my hair." I said.

-"You know I don't lose a chance to run my hand through a boy's hair~" he said winking.

-"And here is the gay line I've been waiting for." Elsa said while still keeping her eyes on the phone.

-"Hey I'm Bisexual! I had 3 girlfriends!" he said.

-"And 3 boyfriends." she simply replied.

-"3? I never saw the third..." I said raising a brow.

-"That's because you're either here with my dad or you're running outside or you're cooped up in your room!" he said crossing arms.

-"Still you're my best friend and half brother! I had to know!"

-"Don't worry they only slept together twice and broke up." she said, still keeping an eye on her phone.

-"And I'm not upset anymore." I said smiling and then suddenly remembered my problem and my smile faded.

-"Something wrong?' Alex asked.

-"Nothing...I'll tell you later." I didn't want to mention I found my mate in front of Elsa. in this case that my mate was a human I thought this was special. there was no need to run around, yelling it out loud to anyone I saw. at this point, I wasn't even gonna tell Alpha. I was only gonna say it to Alex because he was closer to me than anyone and because I trusted him not to give away my secret until I figure out how to deal with it. at this time Alpha Henry walked in, announcing his entrance with clearing his throat.

He was tall and well built and when he was young he had blonde hair. now they were all white, completed with a white beard. he always wore suits and ties and he walked with the help of a wooden cane. his leg was hurt in one of werewolf battles.

-"Alex, Dust." he nodded at us then he turned to Elsa. "Elsa please leave the room. this is official business."

-"But daddy I'm an Alpha too!" she said annoyed. she was always fanatic about her position. the rules mentioned that in case of twin Alpha children, the future Alpha must be the male. Elsa was aware of that and she was fine with not being an Alpha but she couldn't stand not being treated like one, after all she was from Alpha bloodline.

-"I know you are." Alpha said. "but still you are not in charge of pack. you know the rules."

she growled and got up walking out and slammed the door behind her.

-"Well that went well." Alex said. "at least she didn't shout this time."

-"She's your sister." Alpha, said walking to his desk and sitting on his big red leather chair. "I'll just get straight to the point. there was something important I wanted to talk to you about. it concerns the safety of pack." he said, looking at us with his blue eyes from behind his glasses.

-"Is something wrong sir?" I asked.

Even though I was raised in his family and was his children's half brother and he treated me no different than his own children and did everything a father does for his son, I didn't want to call him dad or by his first name. I called his wife mom before she dies but I always either called him Sir or Alpha. he said I could call him dad but the word 'dad' did not mean anything to me.

-"As a matter of fact, yes." he said. "this recently, I noticed some movements around the woods. I even saw some wolves and I could tell these were not from our pack."

-"Lethal Howl pack?" Alex asked, aware.

-"I'm not sure. it's a probability though. they always had an eye on this pack and mansion and in the right time, they will not hesitate to attack."

-"So why don't we attack first?" Alex asked,

-"we're not sure if it's them. I don't want to risk a war. we'll wait and see who are they and what do they want and in the right time, we'll take action. you're always guarding around the house Dust, did you see anything today?" he looked directly at me with his blue eyes.

-"uh, yes sir. it was just a human girl... nothing important. I scared her off." I said, remembering my earlier collision with my mate.

-"Good. I hope it wasn't too harsh. you know what the town's people are already saying about us."

-"pfft. rumors." Alex said.

-"Exactly. anyways we have to be discussing the Christmas party. I like to add Alpha Liam to the guest lists."

Both me and Alex exchanged a confused look with each other.

-"Alpha Liam dad?" Ale asked.

-"Yes. and his family too."

-"But sir...he's the Lethal Howl pack's Alpha."

-"Exactly. I want to make the first move with peace. if those wolves that I saw earlier are from Lethal Howl pack, then they're making themselves familiar with the area and preparing themselves for a war. that's the last thing anyone wants around here. I can't risk having a war and endangering the pack or town, so I decided to decide Alpha Liam to our Christmas party and find out if he's behind all this or not and if so, make peace with him and his pack. it's time this old feud ends."

-"Yes sir I'll take care of it." I said.

-"Good. get to your works now and make sure nobody else realizes about this. we don't want to cause a panic in pack." he said, getting up and walking out of the office.

-"Have you ever wondered why they call it a Christmas party? it's not even on Christmas eve!" Alex said as soon as he walked out.

-"Seriously? that's all you can think of right now?" I said.

-"You know I don't concern myself with minor stuff. that's your job, Beta." he smirked and sat on desk.

-"Anyways I should tell you something." I said closing the door again.

-"Ok... what is it?" he crossed his arms.

-"I...I found my mate."

The reaction was immediate. his eyes widened and he got up excitedly.

-"Are you serious dude?!" he asked.

-"Do you think I would joke about such an important thing?"

-"Oh my God Dust! you have a mate! who is she? I want details!"

-"Well I don't know her name obviously. she had red hair and she was a little short, and she had some freckles on her face and her eyes were this really light blue."

-"She sounds really cute!"

-"The thing is that..."

-"What?" he asked.

-"She's a human."

He froze where he was looking at me and then... slowly a smile appeared on his face.

-"Well that makes sense! considering your heritage and all!"

I frowned at him.

-"Exactly because of those heritage I'm gonna reject her."

-"Wait! wait wait wait wait...What!? are you crazy? dude, I spent my entire life looking for my mate and I haven't found her or him yet! you haven't even tried and she came right at your front door and you're gonna reject her?! what the hell?"

-"I wasn't looking for a mate."

-"we both know it's not about that. it's because she's a human."

-"So what?"

-"Well you're not the first werewolf to have a human mate you know. it's not usual but it happens."

-"Not for me." I said walking towards window. it was dark now and I could see the town's lights from afar.

-"Why? I thought you'd be more fine with it considering your mom..."

In the blink of an eye, my eyes narrowed and I pinned him hardly against the wall growling.

-"Don't you ever say that Again!"

-"Dust! what the hell?!" he said, obviously scared.

-"You have crossed the line! you know what happened to her! I'm not gonna make that poor girl like her too! I'm not gonna make another human being suffer for me like she did! mate or no mate!" I yelled at him.

-"O-ok got it!" he said as I let go of him. I huffed before turning away and slamming the door open and walking outside. I shifted to my reddish brown wolf and ran in the woods. my anger made me run faster than usual through the trees and rocks. I growled once more before speeding up more and heading towards a hill and settling down, looking at the town below me.

I knew what was gonna happen to that girl if I accept her as my mate and I was not gonna let her end up like my mother. I knew that. But I couldn't help but wonder, somewhere down that hill in and among those town light, I have a mate.
