Namjoon opened the door, seeing a man in a suit standing there, hair slicked back and a professional expression on his face.

"Kim Namjoon?" The detective asked, pulling out his badge to show the boy.

"Yeah, that's me." Namjoon shut the door behind him, not wanting anyone to overhear.

"I'm Detective Park, your mother asked me to look into your disappearance." The man said, pulling out a small notepad and a pen.

Namjoon sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Look, obviously I'm alright, my mom is just...she means well. But she jumps to the worst possibly conclusion every three seconds. I just missed school because I was tired and busy working on a project with my friend here. I should have called her, and I'm sorry she wasted your time."

Jimin nodded, seeing the boy was clearly fine, and not kidnapped or dead. "What project?"

The boy shrugged one shoulder. "For my biology class. I've been staying with my class mate Yoongi since we're partners for it."

"And Yoongi is close to the campus security cop, right?" Jimin scribbled on the paper. "The one who got attacked last night at the station?"

Namjoon frowned, cocking his head as he thought. "I...I mean, they're friends? I think?" He turned suspicious. "Why? It's not like he had anything to do with it."

"Of course not." Jimin kept writing and it made Namjoon uneasy. He wanted to get this detective out of their lives and far away from what they were doing.

He scratched his inner wrist again, digging his nails into the skin to fight the tingling he felt there.

"How do you know they're friends?" Namjoon asked, wondering what else Jimin knew.

Jimin smiled. "Saw a note on Hoseok's desk when I went to visit him yesterday. A cute smiley face note, signed by a Min Yoongi. Just connecting some dots, is all."

"Mm." Namjoon knew the detective was keeping things hidden from him, and he didn't like it. The last thing he needed was this guy to start investigating where Namjoon was sinning. "What were you visiting Hoseok for?"

"Don't worry about it, just wanted some answers." Jimin smiled again, but it didn't put the student at ease.

He scratched his wrist harder.

"Are you friends with the cop? Did he tell you something?"

"What would he tell me?" Jimin's voice was neutral.

"I don't know, that's why I'm asking." Namjoon pointed out.

"You seem like you're expecting the cop to know something about you." Jimin looked the boy over, noticing his scratching. "Nervous?"

"Me? Of course not, what is there to even be nervous about?" Namjoon laughed. "I don't even know the guy, only ever discovered he existed when I met Yoongi for the project."

"A project so important that it took the university's number one student out of all classes so suddenly, without even a text to anyone about him leaving." Jimin said. "Must be one hell of a project."

Namjoon narrowed his eyes. "Kids skip classes all the time. Why is me doing it suddenly front page news?"

"It's not. I'm just doing my job. Your mom wanted me to find you and make sure you were okay."

'Well, you found me." Namjoon spread his arms out. "Good job. You can go back home now. I know there's some murders you can go investigate."

Jimin leaned slightly forward. "And what do you know about murders?"

"Nothing." Namjoon gazed at him.

Jimin held the boys stare, tilting his head slightly. "Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Nothing you know at all about any murders? Any at all?"

Was he talking about the campus murders or Yoongi's parents' murders? God, Namjoon wanted him gone.

"I don't know anything about anything." He said defensively.

"I'm sure that's not true." Jimin took a step closer, and Namjoon took a step back. "You're a smart kid, we both know it. I'm sure there's something you know."

"Likewise." Namjoon crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow at the handsome detective.

Jimin chuckled. "We aren't enemies, Namjoon."

"Well I don't feel very friendly right now." Namjoon glared.

Jimin reached into his wallet, pulling out a small business card that he handed to Namjoon. "When you do, give me a call. I think we have a lot to talk about."

Namjoon took the card but didn't look at it.

Jimin pocketed his notepad. "I'll see you around, Namjoon."

Namjoon watched the detective head back to his car and drive away, his frown only deepening as he thought.

The door opening behind him brought him out of his downward spiral, and he stepped back to let Yoongi walk out.

"Hey, was that the detective guy?" Yoongi asked.

"Yeah." Namjoon stuffed the card into his pocket.

"What did he want?"

"Asked a lot of questions. I think he knows something. About me."

Yoongi frowned. "About you killing those homeless people?"

"Fucking hell!" Namjoon smothered his hands over the boys mouth, backing him up against the side of the house. "Don't just say that shit out loud! What if he left a bug around here somewhere?"

Yoongi knocked his hands off. "You're paranoid."

"Easy for you to say, you weren't the one who was just on the hot seat." Namjoon grumbled, scratching his wrist.

"Oh calm down, you're fine. There's no way he could possibly know." Yoongi straightened up. "Anyways I'm going to Dr. Kim's. I want to see Jungkook."

Namjoon's mood brightened at the idea of being alone with Seokjin. "Have fun. When will you be back?"

Yoongi made a face as he walked to the driveway. "Why, you gunna fuck my brother while I'm gone?"

He climbed into the car and honked as a goodbye, driving away.

Namjoon just smirked.
