Seokjin parked in Dr. Kims driveway a little after three o'clock.

He was exhausted, but he had to pick up his baby brother and cook dinner still.

He hurried up the steps and knocked on the door.

"Ah, Seokjin, come on in." Taehyung greeted the young man.

"Good afternoon, Dr. Kim." Seokjin stepped inside. "Did Yoongi get Jungkook here on time?"

"He was early." Taehyung led Seokjin to the living room, where Jungkook was laying on the couch on his tummy, his legs in the air as he played with two dolls.

"Jungkookie, look who's here." Taehyung called.

Jungkook glanced up and gasped, rolling off the bed. "Koo's Jinnie!"

"Hey baby," Seokjin smiled warmly as he hugged his baby brother. "Did you have fun today?"

"Uh huh," Jungkook nodded enthusiastically. "Kookie practiced his numbers and letters, and watched 'toons and TaeTae made Kookies favorite snacks!"

"That sounds amazing baby," Seokjin said, standing up and holding Jungkooks hand.

They were similar in height, and Seokjin wondered for the millionth time what kind of adult Jungkook would be if his mind hadn't been broken.

"Thank you so much for this, Dr. Kim." Seokjin said to the man. "Yoongi and I really appreciate it."

"What's with the formalities, Jin?" Taehyung smiled. "You know you can call me Taehyung. And it's no problem at all, I'd be lonely in the mornings if it weren't for my little Koo keeping me company."

Jungkook beamed when he heard his name. "Tae? Kookie can bring home the dolls?"

"Oh, no Gukkie, they're Taehyung's dolls. They gotta stay with him." Seokjin said.

"Oh he can bring one home, it'll help his fine motor skill to dress them up." Taehyung picked up one of the dolls and handed it to Jungkook, who took it with a big smile, hugging it to his chest.

"What do we say, Guk?" Seokjin asked him.

"Thaaaaank yoooouuuu!" Jungkook said loudly, focusing on the doll only.

The brothers walked back to the foyer where Seokjin put Jungkooks shoes on for him.

"How are you on medicine?" Taehyung asked. "Do you need another bottle?"

"Yeah, I'm running low on his evening pills, but I don't get paid until Friday." Seokjin said, helping Jungkook stuff his arms through the sleeves of his puffy jacket.

"Here." Taehyung walked to a cabinet and pulled out a bottle. He handed it to Seokjin. "Take this one."

Seokjin stared. "But, Dr. Kim, I can't pay for it yet-"

"It's totally fine, Jin. I can bend the rules here and there for my favorite patient." Taehyung smiled and gave a high five to a giggling Jungkook.

"Thank you, Dr. K- Taehyung. Thank you so much." Seokjin said sincerely.

"I love you boys. Don't even worry about it." Taehyung said.

"Bye bye, TaeTae!" Jungkook waved as Seokjin led him to the car.

The oldest brother helped Jungkook into his seat, buckling him in while Jungkook babbled and played with his doll.

The drive back was short and uneventful, with Jungkook singing along to his ABC CD. Seokjin carried Jungkook inside the house when they arrived, even though Jungkook could walk on his own just fine. He just had a habit of babying the youngest.

He sat Jungkook down on the couch and went to the kitchen, turning on the heat and radio. "What should we have for dinner tonight, Goo?"

"Pizza!" Jungkook exclaimed, making his doll fly like a plane.

Seokjin smiled wryly. "We can't afford pizza, baby. What else would you like?"

"Cheaper pizza." Jungkook insisted.

Seokjin sighed with a chuckle. "Sometimes I think you're smarter than me and Yoongi combined."

He pulled out a can of dough and began rolling it out while he listened to Jungkook make noises as he played with his new toy.

He remembered the pills and pulled out the bottle. "Gukks, it's medicine time."

Jungkook pouted. "Already had medicine today, Jinnie!"

"You have to take it in the morning and night, remember?" Seokjin said, dumping out two pills. "Jinnie will crush them up for you. Do you want to take them with juice?"

"TaeTae put Gukkies pills in banana smoothie today!" Jungkook said, climbing onto a chair.

Seokjin nodded. "Good idea, I'll do that too."

He made Jungkook's smoothie and poured tomato sauce over the dough, adding cheese and sausage to it for Jungkook and Yoongi and- speaking of Yoongi, where was he?

Seokjin glanced at the time as he handed Jungkook his smoothie.

It was almost five, so even though Yoongi wasn't late, he should be home soon.

Seokjin sent him a quick text.

Where r u?

"Jinnie, Guk spilled!" Jungkook called, mopping up his mess with one hand.

Seokjin forgot about Yoongi as he hurried over help his baby brother. "It's okay baby, Jinnie will clean it up."

He wiped up the mess and cleaned up Jungkook too, kissing his head.

"Big brother Jinnie will always be here for you, Goo."

-

Yoongi read Seokjin's text and didn't respond.

He looked up at the wall he had spent years making.

It was covered in newspaper clippings, post it notes, papers with scribbles on them, and numerous colored pins keeping it all together.

Their parents had died twelve years ago, and Yoongi still refused to believe it was an accident.

He used to accept what the officers told him, that it was an unfortunate car accident, but his intuition told him it was something else.

It was their wedding night, and eleven year old Seokjin stayed home watching eight year old Yoongi, who hadn't wanted to go to the wedding. Four year old flower boy Jungkook went with their parents in their hired limo while they headed to the ceremony.

Before they even made it to the venue, their limo crashed when it accidentally ran a red light- killing their parents- who hadn't been buckled, instantly.

The driver survived with injuries and managed to save Jungkook, who had been safely secured in his car seat.

That traumatic incident had stunted Jungkook's mind, and he mentally hadn't grown a day since.

That was twelve years ago.

It didn't make sense- why would someone whose job it is to drive safely do something as stupid as run a red light? And his parents always made Yoongi and his brothers buckle up, so how could they forget car safety when it came to themselves?

He had asked questions, but no one took a grieving eight year old seriously. And now that when he was older and asked questions, they told him it was a cold, closed case and to just move on.

How the hell was Yoongi supposed to just move on from his parents death?

He reread the same news articles covering the accident, trying to read between the lines to gain new information.

He was stuck. He had nothing new to go off of and that scared him.

His biggest fear was dying before he could solve the mystery surrounding his parents death.

He sat down on a cold, metal chair, sighing. He was in a small, abandoned shack about half a mile into the woods behind the school. It used to be a hunting shack before the school was constructed and hunters couldn't shoot in these woods anymore. It was Yoongi's private space, and he went here every day after classes ended.

No one else knew it was here, and not even Seokjin knew it was Yoongi's hide out.

He didn't even know Yoongi was investigating like this.

Yoongi loved his older brother, but he knew Seokjin would just get upset at all this and demand Yoongi to stop and focus on his schoolwork.

He didn't need this added stress, so Yoongi lied and told him he was staying late to study for an upcoming test.

Which was true- he did have a test coming up. He just wasn't going to study for it.

His phone vibrated again, this time from Hoseok.

Hey Yoongles, r u free tomorrow night?

Yoongi liked Hoseok as a friend. He was playful, happy, kind, and looked damn good in his uniform. Yoongi knew Hoseok liked him, and one day, Yoongi would be honest and say he wasn't looking for a boyfriend at this time.

But only after he used Hoseok to get some new information about his parents case.

I am :), why?

I want to take you to dinner, if that's okay with you.

Sounds amazing!

"Sorry, Hobi." Yoongi whispered, grabbing his bag as he headed back home.
