"Hey Yoongs!" Hoseok greeted with a big smile, handing one coffee cup to the student.

Yoongi took it, scooting over on the bench on the campus to let the cop sit next to him.

"Thanks, Hoba."

"I didn't see you in school yesterday, where were you?" Hoseok frowned.

Yoongi hesitated, grip tightening on the cup.

"Actually...that's kinda why I wanted to talk to you."

He faced the cop. "And you can't tell Seokjin! Promise me you won't tell anyone about this!"

Hoseok looked concerned. "Yoongi, if you're in some kind of trouble-"

"I'm not, but you might be." Yoongi looked around, as if the bad guy was right behind them. "Can we talk somewhere private?"

"I'm not really allowed to leave the school grounds when I'm on duty." Hoseok glanced at Yoongi's worried look and caved. "But I think if we can make it quick, no one will even notice."

Yoongi jumped up, grabbing Hoseok's hand with his free one, tugging him along quickly to the woods behind the school.

"Yoongi!" Hoseok nearly splashed himself with coffee as he was half dragged across the campus. "Where are you going?"

"I know a place we can go and not be disturbed." Yoongi half explained. "Just come on! It's important."

Hoseok sighed, knowing he could get in trouble for this, but dutifully let the little student pull him along.

-

"What is this place?" Hoseok looked around the small shack, eyeing the firepit and chair.

Yoongi shrugged. "An old hunters shed. It's abandoned." He was glad he had hung a blanket over the wall of photos and newspaper clippings, or else he would have a lot to explain. "Look, what do you know about a car crash case twelve years ago?"

Hoseok blinked. "Car crash?"

"There was a couple on their wedding night, they were killed in a car accident. Their baby was in the car."

Hoseok frowned. "It doesn't sound familiar. Should it?"

Yoongi sighed. "No...it happened before you even joined the force. I was just hoping you overheard something or saw something."

Hoseok walked over, placing a comforting hand on the boys shoulder. "Yoongi, what does an old case have to do with why you missed school?"

"It's...for a project." Yoongi looked up at him. "Can you pretty please give me the intersection CCTV of that night? Please?"

Hoseok blinked.

"Please!" Yoongi almost begged. "I need it! It's extremely important and I can't tell you why!"

The cop frowned. "Yoongi, I can't. I'll get fired and you'll get in trouble too."

"I don't care what happens to me." Yoongi shook his head. "I only care about the truth."

"Yoongi!"

"Please, just this once?" Yoongi pleaded. "I don't want you to get fired, but I need it. Please Hobi...I wouldn't be asking this if it wasn't important."

Hoseok studied him for a long moment before sighing.  "Alright, I'll try. I'm not making any promises so don't get your hopes-"

"Thank you!" Yoongi threw himself at the taller man, giggling with relief. "I owe you a big one, seriously!"

Hoseok chuckled, heart fluttering as he held Yoongi close. "Let me take you to dinner again and we'll call it even."

Yoongi stood on his tiptoes and kissed the cops cheek.

"Thank you." He whispered sincerely.

And Hoseok decided right in that moment what he had to do.

-

He was just cleaning up his office for the night when a knock came at his door.

With a frown, Hoseok opened it, surprised to see an attractive man in a silver suit standing there.

"Hi, I'm Jung Hoseok, campus security. How can I help you?"

"Detective Park." Jimin flashed his badge. "Mind if I ask you some questions?"

Hoseok stepped back, letting the man enter. "What about?"

"Tell me what you know about the recent murders on campus and about a student named Kim Namjoon."
