TO BE LOVED
:: iii, trial two ( part 2 )
The team soon regrouped back at the station in the conference room. Thomas told them what he discovered when him and emily were attempting to put together the geological profile. Some of the team were a bit surprised because spencer usually does things like this. Figuring out the geological profile isn't necessarily hard but the way spencer does it, nobody can— but thomas here, showed them a different side.
"If you start from the middle, where we are— you notice all of the other victims are diagonal." Thomas demonstrated with a pencil.
"The unsub is moving outwards?" Morgan questioned.
"Exactly. It's kind of like a..." Thomas was trying to think of a good comparison. He had one but he couldn't think of the exact name.
"Flower. It's blooming." Jennifer finished his thought for him.
He nodded, sharing a look with her. Hotch, with a clap of his hands rotated to the profile itself.
This was a tough case. This unsub is taking women and men, beating them to a pulp while they're tied up. Exactly how are you suppose to figure out why for something like that?

Everyone sat in the conference room, they were trying to figure their next steps— the unsub's next steps. While they all chatted, thomas was getting a cup of coffee. He knew it was his first case but he couldn't help but doubt himself now. He wanted this so much that he kept second guessing now and he didn't know why.
Emily notice thomas wasn't apart of the conversation, so she got up from next to spencer and left the room. As soon as she stepped out, she looked to her right and saw him by the coffee machine. She sighed making her way to him. She simply tapped his shoulder, then he turned around.
"Everything ok, Tom?" Emily ask, in a more settle tone.
"Tom, huh?" In his voice you could tell something was off. Emily hasn't known him for long, but she could tell. Maybe cause it was the job.
"Was giving it a try." Her nose scrunched up a bit. The small talk soon became silent, so she took it upon herself to make a quick up of coffee.
In doing so, Thomas picked up his cup and quickly sipped it but it was still very hot. He analyzed Emily as she made her coffee. He noticed a few things about her, that he didn't when they first met.
She was a bit sarcastic, smart, leadership type, and she was definitely a cat lady.
As he continued to stare at her a little bit, his name and Emily's was called.
"Byers, Prentiss! We got a lead!" Derek hollered from the other side of the station.
Emily turned to Thomas, "So much for the coffee."
They both soon made their way, following derek out into one of the black suvs. Derek tossed Thomas the keys and he was confused.
Derek lightly chuckled, "You're driving. Found a new body."
With a nod, Thomas opened the door to the driver's seat and got in. He soon got the car started and began to drive to the new crime scene, which he soon found out about from Emily, which was a bit odd for the unsub.

Hotch was back at the station with jj, spencer, gideon, and rossi. They were giving the profile to the police force. Now it was time, it was time to catch this guy — to catch, Cooper Reynolds.
Soon enough the group regrouped. Morgan and Byers, headed to where cooper supposedly held resident. Everyone else went to other locations of where cooper could be.
Thomas and derek decided to separate for the time being. The sky was turning a dark blue as Thomas went around back and Derek went through the front door.
Thomas slowly walked around the corner to the back of the house with his gun held up. After checking out the back and making sure it was clear, he used the back door to get into the house. Though the sounds were faint, he could hear the unsub's and derek's voice.
Slowly but quickly, Thomas made his way up the stairs and to the room. As he quietly entered, the unsub was faced towards Derek. Thomas was about to call for hotch on the walkie talkie that was on his shoulder, but Derek slowly shook his head no. As Thomas walked closer to the unsub, cooper quickly turned around.
Cooper lightly chuckled, "You called one of your buddies here because you couldn't handle me, hm?"
"Don't do this, man." Derek spoke as he held his gun up.
Cooper's gun was aiming at Thomas and his heart was beating rapidly fast. He never had gun pointed at him before. He never pointed a gun at someone else before.
Someone people say everyone should be saved but when your the FBI and you're trying to catch the bad guy . . . sometimes they can't be saved and that's what Thomas knew. Cooper Reynolds, he was far from being saved.
"That's where you're wrong agent. . . I want to do this." Cooper was so cocky in his tone.
As the bullet left cooper's gun, it left Thomas' just as quickly. The thought lingering was who the bullet was going to hit first. Luckily, it was cooper. Though they saved people, it didn't make killing anyone better.
As everyone else came rushing in, Thomas stood there— staring at the body. He wasn't sure how he was supposed to be feeling. At the risk of saving billions, one always has to die. He knew that but it didn't make killing cooper any better.
"You had no choice." Derek rested his hand on Thomas' shoulder.
"I know." Thomas spoke softly, as his eyes were glued to the body.
"Come on, the team's outside." Derek began making his way out the room to the front door.
Soon enough, Thomas followed him and they were reunited outside with the team. Thomas and Derek filled everyone in, then soon everyone went back to the police station to gather their things before heading to the jet back home.
All Thomas hoped was to see a friendly face when he got back but that sadly wasn't the case.
to be continued . . .
