MR. NEVER WHEN IT MATTERS

Gabriel walks into his bedroom and notices both of his daughters laying on the bed.

"So he's trying to get off the vein which I understand is hard, I mean I could never really understand because I will never be a vampire but it doesn't take a genius to know that this is an addiction." Davina rambles to her little sister who pays her no attention, much too focussed on trying to eat her feet.

"I don't think your little sister is the appropriate person so be telling this to." Gabriel jokingly tells the girl as he makes his presence known. Davina's head snaps toward his form in the doorway, her face turning slightly red.

"What are sister's for?" Davina shrugs as she looks toward said little girl. "Right Lizzie?" She grabs her chubby cheeks and makes her head nod. "See?"

He shakes his head with amusement. "I am glad you two have each other, although I am scared to see what kind of mischief she gets up too. She has a little too much of Caroline in her eyes."

"Why is that a bad thing?" Davina tilts her head and Gabriel realizes that Davina only knows his wife as the caring, responsible, mother figure. The blonde was nothing like how she was when she first met the Mikaelson's.

"Let's just say that Caroline has changed a lot from her teenage years." Gabriel smirks at the thought.

"I still can't believe that you got someone like mom." Davina tells him while still playing with her little sister. Gabriel makes an offended face. "Now what is that supposed to mean?"

"She's out of your league." She bluntly tells him.

"I'll have you know that your dad could pull-"

Davina covers Lizzie's ears and shouts. "Ew, dad!"

Gabriel roars with laughter as Caroline enters the room with an amused smile. "What's going on in here?"

"Dad's telling me and Lizzie about all the woman-" Before she can finished Gabriel quickly covers her mouth as Caroline narrows her eyes. "That I never even batted an eye at because I love you so much." He quickly finishes.

Caroline places on hand on her hip. "Really?"

"I love you?" Gabriel speeds to her and smothers her face in kisses. He throws the blonde on the bed next to the girls who all squeal as he attempts to smush them all into a hug.

Gabriel gasps awake attempting to gain his bearings, looking around he realizes he's in his bed in the compound. He quickly snaps his head toward the door when he hears someone enter. His face falls as Caroline's teary eyes fall onto his own.

Noticing he's awake Caroline freezes, unable to stop her lower lip from quivering.

"Caroline.." Gabriel trails off as he attempts to un-blur his fuzzy thoughts. He purses his lips. "What's happened? I feel weird, it feels like my chest feels empty." He absentmindedly rubs his chest.

"There was an earthquake." Caroline takes a seat at the end of the bed looking down at her hands and takes a deep breath. "You fainted but right before you did you told me to call Bonnie."

Gabriel's breathing hitches. "Say it."

"A-at first I couldn't get a hold of her." Caroline's voice cracks. "So we sent Marcel to go check on them."

Gabriel clenches his hands and looks down to the bed. "Say it." He monotonously responds.

Caroline puts her face in her hands and can't hold back her sob. "They brought her body back here to the compound."

"Say it!" Gabriel suddenly roars as the blonde only cries harder.

Klaus, Elijah, and Hayley are quick to enter the room with crestfallen expressions.

"Brother." Klaus tearfully places a hand on the tense man's shoulder.

Gabriel slams the hybrid against the wall by his neck, veins and blue eyes out for show as his own tears well from his eyes.

"Gabriel!" Hayley yells worriedly as she attempts to comfort Caroline who was still sobbing on the bed. Both women had looked to Davina like a daughter at some point. They both knew how much Davina truly meant to the man. Hayley had seen first hand while they were together how much he tried to do better by the little witch.

Caroline looks up toward Gabriel but his eyes were still fiercely trained on his brothers. Both men looking devastated. "O-our daughter is dead, Gabriel. She's gone." Caroline whispers.

Klaus can feel his brother's steady hand against his throat begin to shake and it makes tears fall from his own eyes seeing his brother break. Gabriel stumbles backward, releasing his brother as though he had been hit. Elijah is behind him to steady him.

"No." Gabriel whispers. "No, no, no, no, no.."

He grabs a nearby vase and smashes it against the wall. "No! You're all lying. This is some kind of deception, the ancestor's have gotten into my mind again I have to do something. I have to fix it. I-I need to speak to Marie. She can help me. She always helps me."

"Marie found peace a long time ago, Gabriel." Klaus tells his brother who was clearly in denial.

"That's what you want me to think." He shakes his head, his face distraught. "We don't have time for this we need to figure out how to take Lucien down."

Freya and Bonnie walk into the room unaware of Gabriel's denial and the groups worried expressions. "I'll draw Davina's spirit to a circle. As long as she's there, the Ancestors won't be able to torment her. With luck that will buy you some time to find a way to resurrect her, but I'll need to channel an Original if I'm going to sustain the spell."

Gabriel scoffs and leaves the room. The rest of the room aside from Caroline who was still crying following him. As they walk downstairs all of the candles flare making everyone pause. "That can't be good." Elijah comments tiredly.

Freya's eyes widen. "My early warning system. I think a New Orleans witch is trying to meddle with one of you."

"Lucien has the new Regent at his beck and call. It's me he's coming after." Klaus states but everyones head snaps towards Rebekah's portrait that catches fire. Gabriel's jaw tenses. "No, it's Rebekah."

"Lucien thought that killing Cami would have me charging into his lair on a suicide mission. When it didn't, he set his sights on Rebekah. He's kicking hornets' nests, until we have no choice but to confront him." Klaus tells the group.

"Presumably, he still believes she's at the bottom of the ocean." Elijah tells the group and Freya nods. "I cloaked all of you, but with the Ancestors working for Lucien, it may take awhile, but if he wants to find Rebekah, he will."

"We'll go get her." Gabriel announces, ignoring the worried groups eyes.

"It's not safe out there." Freya comments.

"I am not sitting here and leaving my sister to fend for herself against Lucien." He growls impatiently.

"Ill go." Elijah offers but Klaus stops him gesturing towards Gabriel subtly with his eyes. "I moved her. What, don't look so surprised. I never did like you two sharing secrets.I expect you to prevent Kol and Gabriel from suffering the same loss that I did. Lucien deserves our collective ire. Today, your grievances are tabled. Help our brother." He murmurs the last part lowly, quickly leaving the room to follow Gabriel who had already made his trek to the car.

Hayley appears in front of Gabriel. "Move." Gabriel demands.

"Look, Gabriel, we both know how this is going to go down. You're going to tell me that I can't come, and then I'm going to tell you that I love Rebekah, too. Then you're going to say, I'm going to slow you down, and I'm going to remind you that your brother is the one who cursed me to be a werewolf for six months, and therefore, I know every inch of the bayou. Now, unless you want to be delayed by an angry werewolf grandma with a shotgun, you should just admit that you need me. And besides, I promised Caroline to watch out for you."

"I don't need anyone to look out for me." He blankly states and she sadly sighs. Klaus walks up to them and nods toward the car knowing if someone could get to his brother it was Hayley ot Caroline. "I'll drive."

Hayley smugly smirks and hops into the vehicle as Gabriel rolls his eyes and follows.

Caroline walks down the stairs hurriedly with Lizzie in hand just as Davina appears in the salt circle, the black object hand of glory sat idly in front of the circle. "Whatever it is you did, thank you." Davina tearfully tells the Bennett and Mikaelson witch.

"Davina!' Caroline shouts as she speeds to the circle.

"Mom!" Davina cries in relief. "Mom, i'm so scared. Where's dad? Is he okay?"

Caroline sniffles. "He's okay, he doesn't believe you're gone Davina.. I barely do. We're going to help you okay?"

"Okay." Davina frantically nods. "But where is he?"

"He had to go help Rebekah." Caroline assures her just as Kol steps up to the circle heartbroken.

Meanwhile Gabriel, Klaus, and Hayley are walking through the woods in the Bayou looking for Rebekah's body. Hayley eyes both brothers unsure of who to start with but decides Klaus is the best decision because he has had a few days to grieve. "Klaus, I know that you're angry."

Said man scoffs. "I don't need advice on healthy mourning from the girl who kept her husband's rotting heart in a box, thank you."

Gabriel snorts and Hayley gives them both unamused looks. "Look, I get it. You think that if you revert to being the cruel bastard that you were before you met Cami, you can pretend like she was never there. Like she never changed you."

"You want to commiserate with me, Hayley, but our experiences of grief are not the same. Your husband is dead. It hurts, but we both know the person you share a true connection with is still breathing. So you and I are not the same." Klaus speeds ahead of the two ignoring her words and hurt look.

Gabriel sighs. "He shouldn't have said that. No one should doubt your grief for Jackson, it's not fair."

"Gabriel..." Hayley sadly tells him. "I'm sorry about Davina."

Now it's Gabriel's turn to speed ahead. "Nothing to be sorry for, my daughter isn't dead."

Hayley sighs and picks up her pace to follow along with the two heartbroken brothers.

Klaus's phone rings and he answers it. "And Freya is certain this power will be enough to kill Lucien?" He questions after Elijah explains that thye can channel the ancestors magic through Davina.

"Yes. But we'd be placing Davina in terrible danger. The only thing protecting her from the Ancestors is Freya's circle. Now, if it is broken..." Elijah trails off and Hayley frowns watching Gabriel's body tense from in front of them. "They'll rip her apart, Elijah. She's just a kid. Gabriel's kid."

"What choice do we have?"Elijah sighs with dread.

Klaus adamantly shakes his head. "No. Find another way. If we destroy Davina, we lose Kol, Caroline, Marcel, not to mention our brother. She is our niece. I won't have us all turning on each other. Keep looking, brother." He hangs up the phone looking beyond stress but has trust that both of his siblings will make the right choice for their older brother. After all that he has done for them they couldn't kill his daughter to save theirselves.

Klaus and Gabriel gently place Rebekah's coffin in the back of the car while Hayley watches.

"You know, I thought I told Camille everything. Every moment that mattered from my past, and yet, in the mere hours since she died, I've thought of a thousand things I forgot to say." Klaus confesses to the two.

"Yeah. I know the feeling." Hayley looks to Gabriel and then looks to the ground. They all enter the vehicle and get back on the road preparing to take Rebekah back to the compound. "You should speak to your daughter while you can." Klaus tells his brother, unwilling to participate in this denial fantasy he was in.

Gabriel looks out the window ignoring his brothers words just as another vehicle crashes into the side of their car momentarily knocking them all out with the shear force.

"This wasn't your fault, or Kol's.Or even my dads. The Ancestors hate me because of choices that I made. I'm not a kid. I'm not your responsibility." Davina tells Marcel and Caroline. Bonnie watches from a few feet back.

"Honey, you will always be our responsibility." Caroline gives her a motherly smile.

"What were you supposed to do? Lock me in an attic and keep the world at bay forever? You didn't let me down. I just grew up. Thank you for saving me that first time. And for everything else after. I love you, Marcel." Davina tells him before looking to her mother. "And I love you Mom and make sure Dad knows that I love him too. You guys loved me more than my blood family ever did and if it wasn't for Dad I don't know what would have happened to me. Not to mention you gave me something I never even dreamed of, a sister."

"I love you." Marcel tells her at the same time Caroline says. "Your dad and I love you too, Vina."

Elijah suddenly rushes into the room and pushes both Caroline and Marcel against the wall, Bonnie quickly straightens herself but before she can mutter any spell Freya waives her hand and knocks the witch out. "Forgive me." Elijah mutters to the two.

Freya grabs Davina and begins performing the spell to steal the magic from the ancestors. "An et ne van ça le eu. Che ke ça le aun. An et ne van ça le eu. Che ke ça le aun."

Davina stares at her aunt in disbelief. "No, please. You'll break the circle! Please, please stop this! Don't do this to me! Don't make me go back, please! Mom! Dad!"

"Elijah, he will never forgive you for this!" Caroline cries. "Don't do this." She pleads but the vampire snaps both of their necks.

"No, please, let go! Dad! No! Let go! Let go! Please let go!" Davina sobs as she's forced back into the ancestral plane. Her ghost figure disappears and Freya turns back to Elijah shakily."It had to be done. Let's go."

Gabriel groans as he pulls himself from the car wreck, he can hear Lucien and Klaus fighting. He quickly makes his way towards Hayley who was gasping in pain from the stake pierced through her stomach. Gabriel swiftly pulls it out making her cry out in pain and he shoves his bleeding wrist into her mouth making her sigh in relief. "I need to help my brother."

He leaves Hayley recovering and rushes into the barn, pushing Lucien away from a heaving Klaus. "Stay away from my family, Lucien. It's time to finish this once and for all."

Lucien smirks as he disappears from sight and Gabriel immediately registers his mistake as he finds him behind Hayley with his hand inside of her chest.

Both brothers tense.

"Thus the game comes to it's inevitable end. Killing your daughter obviously didn't wound you enough but how about killing a soulmate of yours Gabriel, and the mother to your child Nik."

"What are you proving by killing her? It's me you hate." Klaus attempts to talk him down as Gabriel growls.

"Was I not clear when I murdered Finn and Camille? I don't care who dies! But since you do, indulge me and I might just spare the mother of your child. Kneel! Get on your knees, both of you! I can feel her heart pounding in my fist. Do you really want to measure your pride against my mercy?"Lucien taunts.

Hayley's eyes widen as both men kneel with out hesitation. Elijah appears from behind Lucien throwing him away from the brunette as Freya begins reversing the spell. Lucien is now the one falling to his knees as he shuts in pain.

"His power's gone. He's nothing but an ordinary vampire now." Freya snarks.

"You can kill me but the prophecy still stands, you cannot outrun it." Lucien tells the four siblings.

"I've heard about 1000 years too much from you. For a century you lived with my name and you never did quite recover from losing it, did you? You became a man of wealth and stature but you never could crawl from my shadow, and in the end, despite the gift of immortality, you have always known what you truly are. You are nothing." Klaus mutters as he uses a piece of broken glass to cut Lucien's mouth like Tristian did to him a thousand years prior. He then rips his heart out as Gabriel answers a phone call from Bonnie.

"Bonnie?" Gabriel questions wondering if she needed something for their side project, he was unaware of everything that had happened in regards to Davina once they left the compound.

His face slowly drops as she recounts the events that took place, not to mention he could now hear his now furious and inconsolable wife in the back round. His siblings and Hayley are talking amongst each other not noticing his state. By the time they turn back Gabriel was gone.

Caroline walks into the living room after leaving Lizzie to Bonnie's care in the guest room knowing she was in no state to be taking care of a baby. They had immediately left the compound after she and Bonnie woke up knowing she may try to kill one of the Mikaelson's when they returned and she couldn't stand the thought of even seeing any of the siblings. It was late and she could barely hold herself up with all of the emotions running wild in her mind. A small thud grabs her attention and she slowly walks toward the noise, wondering if they were being attacked yet again. Realizing it was Davina's room she cautiously opens the door and the sight that she see's tears her already broken heart into shreds.

Gabriel was on his knees, head buried into the bed. His back was shaking letting Caroline know he was silently sobbing into the blankets and she slowly approaches him. Getting onto her knees she softly places her hand onto his back and he briefly looks up to meet her matching bloodshot eyes.

He opens his mouth but can't seem to get any words out.

Caroline nods her head as he begins sobbing and pulls him into a tight hug as she too cries. "I know, I know."

"S-she's gone, Caroline. My daughter is gone." He cries and she squeezes her eyes shut at the pure devastation in his voice. "She loved you Gabriel. She loved you so much and she knew that you loved her. She wanted you to know that."
